TTC first baby

Hello all! DH and I are TTC our first baby, I'm 31, he's 32. We've only been trying for a month so it is extremely early days but I'm so excited at the prospect.

DH may have some fertility issues (picked up on a scan) but I was pretty convinced it was going to be a BFP straight away as I had so many symptoms - but that shows how much I know! Blush

Is anyone else TTC their first baby? Please join and keep me company!!

Pinkie - calm down, mate. Flapping isn't doing you any good. Go get a cold glass of water and close your eyes and (sorry this is stupid) but repeat the word "key ring" with your breathing in and breathing out. Don't' let any other thoughts invade - just breath.

There are 9 months for this to get exciting. Right now, you're riding on a wave of emotion that happens when hundreds of flapping TTC women get together and shit happens to some of them.

So try to relax and calm down and wait for the midwife to ring.

Everything will be fine :)

mrsbugsywugsy · 07/06/2012 17:01

Kitten can you link to that thread. Am in need of inspiration!

QueenOfTheDrama · 07/06/2012 17:04

fab advice from kicking - pinkie hope that the midwife calls soon and is able to reassure you. x

Kittenkatzen · 07/06/2012 17:12

here it is bugsy :)

Pinkie29 · 07/06/2012 17:14

Key ring?? I'm out at the minute but will try when I get home, just about to go into a meeting bet she'll call then! Thanks tho ladies!

Will make a drs appointment tomorrow to talk about the anxiety issues, was doing so well and all managing it

Kittenkatzen · 07/06/2012 17:18

ohhhhh please start deep breathing and chanting "key ring" in your meeting.... :o:o

Pinkie29 · 07/06/2012 17:20

Hahaha Grin

KickingUpQuestions · 07/06/2012 17:24

Key ring is because it's a completely neutral word that has no other connotations and it has two syllables. Pick another word if you like but it needs to be random and mean nothing...

I would be a mess if I fall pregnant. Literally. I would be like...a terrified, nervous mess.

NicolaHazel · 07/06/2012 17:38

Hugs to Pinkie...hopefully the doctor will put your mind at ease.

I've no doubt I'll be as anxious as you are though.

Just keep on the key ring mantra :-)

QueenOfTheDrama · 07/06/2012 18:11

I'd be terrified too, its completely normal how you're feeling pinkie Hope your meeting went well Smile

Popinda · 07/06/2012 18:16

Pinkie- I'm going to be the same when I'm pg! Every twinge ill be panicking! Have you heard from your mw yet?

Pinkie29 · 07/06/2012 19:43

Hello, refrained from chanting mid meeting!! It a very random word will try it next time!

I feel better now and had a few more twinges like the ones I've been having all week. Think i just had a little freak out and found myself very snappy with dp. Well midwife still hasn't phoned am very annoyed!! Angry

Pinkie29 · 07/06/2012 19:45

Dp also said I should only worry if I start bleeding which is true but you hear of ppl not knowing they've mc'd Sad trying to stay positive!

KickingUpQuestions · 07/06/2012 20:20

well done on on not chanting!!

i think worrying is just something you are going to have to get used to

apparently you worry when they come out the womb too :)

QueenOfTheDrama · 07/06/2012 20:28

How annoying that the midwife hasn't called yet pinkie Angry You should call the surgery back first thing! My doctors is crap, you have to harass them before they bother to do anything for you. Your DP sounds great and very calming - listen to him! Grin

Pinkie29 · 07/06/2012 22:25

I was so AngryAngryAngry at the midwife! Will be 3 days I've waited by tomorrow! Defo ringing first thing to make sure I'm on the list!

Well I called mother randomly and told her, over the moon as predicted and said its normal to feel shock and worry about what's going on down there!

Kicking my dad tells me a parent never stops worrying... Oh dear Smile

NicolaHazel · 07/06/2012 22:27

Do you feel better now you've told her?

And it would be abnormal to not worry.

KickingUpQuestions · 07/06/2012 22:31

That's exactly what I meant. We spend aol much time worrying about falling pregnant, we seem to forget that the minute that little line appears that our lives change forever

So now just try relax and enjoy it

i am envious of you telling your folks. My dad would have enjoyed being a grandpa and my mother is over the moon.

0FrillyKnickers0 · 07/06/2012 22:49

Hi all!! I know I'm not part of your thread, but thought I could offer some reassurance to Pinky Smile I'm 28 weeks with DC1 and when I first found out I was PG (at just over 4 weeks), I was so freaked out by any cramping or weirdness too. You may have heard this before, but when the sperm fertilises the egg, the fertilised egg then rolls on down to implant in your uterus. It literally embeds itself in you and this can cause cramping and very often, spotting. So, and this goes for all of you, please try not to worry. I totally understand, I've been there!

I used to get so tense that I ended up getting trapped wind (so glam) and I pulled most muscles in my stomach because I was terrified that the slightest twitch, sneeze, cough or even poo would dislodge the baby!! But it couldn't be safer. My mum described it as trying to shake an unripe apple from a tree...nigh on impossible!

So, try not to stress and just go with it! It does get better once the sickness passes, if you are unlucky enough to get it! Which I did and I ended up losing over a stone BUT the baby was totally fine and this stress will pass Smile

Hope I've not trampled on your territory, but I know what it's like to feel the way you girls are!!

Frilly, 24
28+2

Pinkie29 · 07/06/2012 22:50

Very true havent even thought that far ahead! Mums asking if we're going to find out the sex names etc I was like we slow down!

But yes bit of a weight lifted now I've told them, kicking I'm guessing your father has passed away? Sad bless you, I'm sure he's up there rooting for you to make him a grandad and will be watching over your dc when you have one, I'm a firm believer in the spirit world and my grandma looks in on me every now and then Smile

God that's a bit deep... Hormones?

Pinkie29 · 07/06/2012 22:57

Frilly thank you that's brilliant Smile not trampled at all! love the idea about the apple in the tree! going to start meditating again tomorrow so hopefully will get back to normal, I've been off work this week so not been busy in the slightest which is never good where worrying is concerned!

Oh and I worry about pooping too lol! I haven't ahem... Pushed since I found out and was scared to sneeze earlier!

So you lost a stone hmm! Grin that said I've lost 3.5lbs in the last 4 weeks

0FrillyKnickers0 · 07/06/2012 23:05

Totally normal but it won't harm your baby one bit!! I was savagely sick for 16 weeks so have done my fair share of retching, squeezing, sneezing and coughing (had a horrendous cold at 5 wks pg!). Maybe that's why my baby is such a wriggler!! Also re pooping, if you've gotta go then go or you'll make yourself constipated (your muscles get lazy), I learnt the hard way. Trust me, you won't hurt the baby!! Sleep well and fret not!

Leftwingharpie · 08/06/2012 05:53

Frilly thank you for sharing it's really good to hear directly from someone who's been there.

NicolaHazel · 08/06/2012 07:25

Hi Frilly

Thank you so much for sharing that :-) I LOVE your mum's unripe apple analogy!

Fitted in a cheeky DTD last night, even though I was exhausted...the things we do, eh?! But as I think I've been ovulating, I felt I should put the effort in. :-)

So far DTD on 5, 6, 9, 12, 14, 15 and 17.

Doesn't look much when written down, ha ha, particularly in comparison to Guru!

Hopefully I've caught it right though...keeping optimistic about 1st month success, given my family's history! Though know statistically it's unlikely.

Who's the next of us to test? Queen and Kicking? Rooting for you all :-)

Newbie2 · 08/06/2012 07:38

Just want to say that if you've been DTT overkill and end up feeling a bit tender then I can happily confirm that probiotic yoghurt overnight works a treat!
