TTC first baby

Hello all! DH and I are TTC our first baby, I'm 31, he's 32. We've only been trying for a month so it is extremely early days but I'm so excited at the prospect.

DH may have some fertility issues (picked up on a scan) but I was pretty convinced it was going to be a BFP straight away as I had so many symptoms - but that shows how much I know! Blush

Is anyone else TTC their first baby? Please join and keep me company!!

Hmmm...EWCM today and twinges!

H2B is in for a treat tonight, ha ha! :-)

Newbie2 · 07/06/2012 12:24

Did I read someone say a few days ago that you can't use pills or creams to clear Thrush if TTC?

weefee · 07/06/2012 12:30

I admit to being absolutely outrageously jealous of anyone who falls pregnant just by the sight of a winky.

Trying for 4 years now, proof it did happen though at the start of this year but we lost it. Back to the drawing board :(

Give it time girl ! (and yes, the worst word know to anyone TTC.....relax)
x

Kittenkatzen · 07/06/2012 12:32

er....i think that conversation may have been that you shouldn't take the pills if you think you might be upduffed (so avoid in 2ww then just in case). The creams were ok though I think. Where's kickingtheguru when you need her?! :o

Lucky H2B nicola - enjoy! :)

Oh and purple hot water with lemon is lovely and really refreshing but SO SO SO bad for your teeth! Drink only if you have lovely strong pearly whites!

Pinkie29 · 07/06/2012 12:33

Kicking sorry didn't mean it that way just that I know I'm a minority Smile

Weefee that's been the case with everyone I know, none of them planned their babies it all 'just happened' without even trying!

Kittenkatzen · 07/06/2012 12:34

sorry - first para was for newbie re thrush treatments :)

Newbie2 · 07/06/2012 12:40

Thanks Kitten :)

DulcetMoans · 07/06/2012 13:26

More BFPs! Yay! Congrats bryony!

Wish I had a flat stomach before TTC! lol. Don't remember ever having a flat stomach! Still, hoping to break the 3 stone loss mark this week. Fx.

I have twinges today, thinking AF could be on the way. Onto the next month I guess... This thread should help though, seems productive (or reproductive!) to me!

KickingUpQuestions · 07/06/2012 13:30

Erm the only thing I would check about the cream is if it is sperm friendly.

Barring that, nothing needs to be changed when TTC. You're only getting sperm shot into you. Your lifestyle doesn't need to change.

Pinkie29 · 07/06/2012 13:42

On the subject of thrush plain natural yoghurt works wonders! Bit messy so might want to do it in the bath just coat a tampon in it and insert, the cooling relief is amazing! Something to do with rebalancing the good bacteria

Newbie2 · 07/06/2012 13:48

Thanks. All good advice and ideas.. I thought maybe I'd DTD too much this month. I think I might need to try yoghurt and rest! I really can't wait to find out my window!!

mrsbugsywugsy · 07/06/2012 15:44

hello all, just thought I'd pop in and see how you are all getting on. Massive congratulations to Bryony and Pinkie on your BFPs. When are you due?

I've had a bit of a stressful time as I had some bleeding last week, but I went for a scan today and all looks well and they saw a heartbeat Smile.

I've been feeling sick as a dog and all I've been able to stomach is toast and rice cakes - so much for the healthy eating!

Good luck everyone and have some Wine for me cos I can't Wink

KickingUpQuestions · 07/06/2012 15:53

Yay mrsbugsy! Nothing wrong with toast and rice cakes! They won't make you put on a lot of weight.

How you feeling other than that?

mrsbugsywugsy · 07/06/2012 16:04

Very, very tired, massive sore boobs, and a little bit nauseous. But very happy Smile

Haven't put on any weight yet - in fact I think my beer belly is shrinking due to lack of beer Blush

KickingUpQuestions · 07/06/2012 16:12

Very happy for you too! Sometimes you just think that you don't care about the discomfort - I would vomit for days if I could only be pregnant!

And yay on beer belly loss (over exaggeration, I'm sure!). But at least you've not put on weight. You can get things to help with the nausea can't you?

Pinkie29 · 07/06/2012 16:12

Thanks bugsy my edd is feb 14th

My cramping has suddenly stopped after a sharp shooting pain across the bikini line earlier :/ really worried

Newbie2 · 07/06/2012 16:15

Congratulations bugsy! I was wondering if anyone is planning to tell friends/family once you have got the BFP or you plan to wait for the 3 month mark? I can imagine its really hard to keep it a secret once you know!! I guess you have this thread to shout about it :)

DulcetMoans · 07/06/2012 16:27

Oh no pinkie! I am sure it's fine, did the midwife call you back and arrange a date?

KickingUpQuestions · 07/06/2012 16:29

Pinkie - just call the doctor and be on the safe side.

Any concerns, you ring the doctor or the midwife.

That's why they're there

QueenOfTheDrama · 07/06/2012 16:30

Brilliant news bugsy Smile

Big congrats to bryony Smile

pinkie has the midwife called you yet? Maybe you can talk through your worries with her? Its only natural that every twinge is going to freak you out, I'm sure everything is fine though! And a Valentines Day baby - how sweet! Grin

mrsbugsywugsy · 07/06/2012 16:43

A Valentine's day baby will be lovely.

I agree with the others, call the Drs if you are worried about anything. Although I think some twinges are normal as your uterus stretches.

Have been drinking ginger tea and nibbling on ginger oatcakes which keeps the sickness more or less at bay.

I have told one or two friends but no family yet. When I thought I might be miscarrying last week a couple of my friends were really supportive, so I think it is good to tell the people you would want to talk to if the worst happened.

My parents are visiting next weekend and I might tell them then. I will be 8 weeks. Otherwise I won't see them for a couple of months and would probably have to tell them on the phone. Also, my brother and SIL have just announced their pregnancy, she is due about a month before me. My parents are super excited (first grandchild) and won't be able to talk about anything else when they visit, so I think I'd burst if I didn't tell them.

Pinkie29 · 07/06/2012 16:50

Just rang again in a bit of a flap the receptionist said I'll defo get a call today, feel a right muppet Sad I thought I'd be shouting from the rooftops but I'm just frightened something will go wrong Sad

Kittenkatzen · 07/06/2012 16:51

Yay bugsy glad everything is going well for you :) are you going to think up an extravagant/fun way of breaking the news to your parents? (inspired by amazeballs' thread on chat the other day perhaps?!)

pinkie definitely get on the phone to the doc/midwife if you're worried - you don't need the stress and they can put your mind at ease

BryonyJ · 07/06/2012 16:53

Thank you everyone! i think i should be due around middle of feb too which would be lovely as it might just coincide with my 1st wedding anniversary!! :)

Newbie2 · 07/06/2012 16:53

Bugsy - that is so lovely that you and your brother will have babies at the same time. So sweet! Your parents are going to burst with happiness!

I think I'll be telling my mum straight away but no one else. She will know anyway as she knows me too well.

Pinkie - if it helps, my friends complained about pains in their tummies at first. Made them sick with worry but there was nothing to worry about. Just natures way of saying something is developing inside you I guess. Definitely call the the GP/midwife to put your mind at ease and you'll know for sure then!
