About to start TTC#2 - does anyone want to come along for the ride?

Hi there,

So, DD is going to be 3 in June and I'm going to be 38 two weeks later. About a year ago I wanted a 2nd DC but DH didn't. I then changed my mind at Xmas.

DH has now changed his mind and persuaded me so finally we're in agreement and ready to go.

CD1 is due this week and then we can start.

Is anyone else ready to TTC#2?

Pickle - deffo not! Not 100% when i ovulated but it must have been towards the beginning of the week of positives. Clear Blue confirmed 4-5 weeks which fits. Am also taking this as a sign that iot's not twins/octuplets as the HCG seems to be within normal range - phew :)

BB have you been to the doctors? Could you have PCOS or something?! Prob worth seeing if you can get bloods done to confirm ovulation is actually happening soon as you are not getting the right signs?

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 19/06/2012 22:05

Sounds about right, i think I'm going to get twins as my payback my stomach has swollen right up! That will teach me.

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 19/06/2012 22:07

Bb I hardly have any ewcm i was taking evening primrose oil until ov and drinking plenty of water to help it, and it was a lot better the cycle I conceived.

I think you can have the odd cycle you don't ovulate which could explain why you had hardly any last month?

Grannyapple · 20/06/2012 08:44

Hi ladies...I've tried to read through a bit of the thread but there's soo much to read...u lot are v chatty Grin. Will try to read over the rest later when I'm not at work.

Can I join too please? This will be dc2, ds1 is 16 months. Been discussing with dh about no2 since Xmas...decided to start about now (agreed at xmas) so that pretty much means this w/e for us...providing dh can get confirmation that the drugs he is taking for a medical condition won't have any impact (he's on nootropil (piracetam)).

I keep thinking how exciting it will be when it happens again but worried about telling work, a teeny bit worried about money & then support network (from Scotland, live in London), but has been great with ds1 as made lots of new friends..

Took 3 months last time so expecting it to take a bit longer this time, what with trying to fit ttc in, with a toddler in tow Smile.

Best get back to work me thinks....looking forward to getting to know y'all!

EddieIzzardIsMine · 20/06/2012 08:59

Hi Granny!

I think many people (certainly us!) get concerned about finances when planning qnother baby but sure it'll be fine, do you still have some things you could use again form DS?

So hows everyone else doing?

Planning to dtd tonight as I should've ovulated yesterday (well by dates I should have but havent had any ewcm??) but DP was at work v.early morning until late last night and had had a very physical day so no action yesterday

Grannyapple · 20/06/2012 11:03

Thx eddie yeah we have loads from ds1 so kinda hoping next one is a boy (tho dh would love a girl). But it's more the whole childcare aspect, & whether to go back to work full or part time (currently part time) etc. Plus can't believe the weekly food shop costs at the mo. We've had a few extras the past couple of month's (washing machine, hen night, flights back home, family wedding coming up) so it probably just because of that I'm feeling a wee bit tight for money...after the next 2 weeks, plan is to save frantically as well as try for dc2. Like you say, I think everyone has a few wobbles but then somehow you always manage...

littleduck · 20/06/2012 13:35

Hi everyone - can I join you too please?

DD is 3 and we are on cycle 2 of ttc DC2. My cycle is 25-26 days and I'm on CD21 now.

DD was a complete surprise and so I'm finding the whole ttc thing a bit of an adjustment, as it was so easy last time. I'm finding the 2ww a real trial tbh!

I had horribly horribly sore boobs at the weekend, really painful, pain had lessened a lot by Monday morning but they are still a bit tender even now, for example taking bra off it's uncomfortable or turning over in the night. Only slightly sore/full feeling but definitely there. Have also had cramping yesterday and today like period pains in uterus type area, particularly on left hand side this morning. Pains actually half woke me up in the night on Monday night or maybe I was just dreaming. I wouldn't have thought that was ovulation pain as I don't have any pain when ovulating and I would have thought pain on CD20 and 21 would be a bit late for ovulation on a 25-26 day cycle. I'm also getting strange fluttery feelings.

So clearly I'm not symptom spotting at all (ha ha) but the last time I remember my boobs being that sore was when I thought I might be pregnant with DD and it turned out that I was right! At the weekend I really thought we must have cracked it but now not so sure.

I've been dying to test since the weekend but cracked and bought some first response yesterday and tested first thing this morning, BFN but then this would be the earliest day I could test. I am going to try and resist testing again until Friday morning. It's torture, I want to be testing all the time and can hardly concentrate on work, I'm being utterly rubbish! I hope we get a BFP soon or I fear I may be sacked.

I can see a few recent BFPs having had a quick look through the recent message, many congrats to Bazzle and Sunshine and here's to some more for the rest of us!

jessi0343 · 20/06/2012 14:13

Hi everyone! And welcome newbies! This is a good thread to be on. Lots of bfps! I think we should start a new stats list soon!

I think I'm on cd26, but not entirely sure how long my cycle is. Might try to hold out until after the weekend, and if I don't have AF by then i may test. Haven't really been paying attention to symptoms, so that may mean I don't have any, who knows.

Fingers crossed for us all!

somethingwittynot · 20/06/2012 16:47

i got my BFP on first resonse at 13DPO

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 20/06/2012 19:48

8 dpo I was. Stupid testing so early! Blush

posypoo · 20/06/2012 19:56

Hello all, sorry I've not been on for days, I've been having a mental mini drama as I did the second test in my pack on Monday just to check and had a very very very ridiculously faint line (like you really could barely see it). I have been trying to convince myself it was just an evap line so as not to get my hopes up. Anyway I've just done a digital to make sure and it says 'pregnant' - so another bfp for this board (though I still don't really believe it!)

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 20/06/2012 20:02

Congratulations!

Cocochops · 20/06/2012 20:48

Evening all, welcome newbies and congrats posy we definitely need an updated stats thread I can't keep up!
CD 12 here not testing for ov but sure it hasn't happened yet as cycles are normally 34 days so try to dtd every other day for the next week or two. Not looking forward for the 2ww but hopefully we will be moving house around then so that should take my mind off it (oprlead to mini breakdown ttc and moving house at same time ! Smile )

So who is next for testing?

EddieIzzardIsMine · 20/06/2012 21:04

Posy! Woo! Congratulations! How are you feeling?

What we on, 4 BFPs? In 2-ish months? Right no pressure ladies but gotta keep up those kind of odds!

So, update of stats it is then - add yourselves in as there is no point copy and pasting with all the newbies and BFPs! I'll start...

Eddie - CD15, cycle 2, cycle length 28(ish) days, poas/af date 4th July

Cocochops · 20/06/2012 21:13

Eddie - CD15, cycle 2, cycle length 28(ish) days, poas/af date 4th July
Coco - CD12, cycle 1, cycle length 34(ish) days, poas/af date 13th July

posypoo · 20/06/2012 21:15

Thank you :) I am feeling in shock Eddie! I had had a suspicion in the last few days that I might actually be but every pregnancy 'symptom' can always be attributed to af being due too can't it. What a head wreck. How did people cope in the old days without tests? They must have had a four month wait for a kick!

Fingers crossed for many more bfps on this thread!

Em2010 · 20/06/2012 21:35

Oh my god!! Congratulations posy!! Great news. I noticed you mentioned the smep method - I googled it and i'm a bit confused (not hard to confuse me!) is it where you have sex every other night but for longer than ovulation??

Welcome granny and duck seems we need some new people, although with those symptoms i'm not sure you'll be with us too long duck! Glad i'm not the only one who has their mind on other matters when they're at work!

I'm still desperately trying not to think about 2ww and pregnancy symptoms (none, except wierd wierd dreams!!) Think i'm going to try a cbfm next month if dh lets me spend any more money on ttc! The sticks look a bit expensive though, does anyone know how many you need to use a month? No point in getting it if I can't afford the sticks!!

Feeling a bit miserable tonight. DH is out, DS has been a little terror all evening and i'm sitting here with a big pile of ironing trying not to think about ttc! x

Em2010 · 20/06/2012 21:37

WinterLover · 20/06/2012 21:40

Hi all,

We are about to start 'trying' for DC #2. DS is 11 months old, we're not going to be timing/plotting anything just having me come off the pill for a start and have some fun Wink

With DS he happened whilst on the pill so i dint have to 'think' about things. I know I need to start taking Folic Acid, but how much is too much?

In all honesty im slightly scared and nervous. I've had a mild PND since DS was born, im currently about to reduce my anti-d's. I have also got a vit-d deficiency, which is creaping back up to normal now. I am going to check with the GP next week that im ok to start TTC.

jessi0343 · 21/06/2012 04:15

Congrats posy! What great news!!

I think I may be next for testing? I'm going to do it Tuesday morning ( if no AF by then) as I have a social thing that night, so need to know if I can drink or not! Il be cd32 by that time. Not sure how long my cycles are because last period was first real one since stopping breastfeeding. But DH and I haven't dtd since day 18 so if I don't show a bfp by then then likely i'm out.

Can someone add my stats to the list? Am on iPhone...

Jessi - CD26, cycle 1, cycle length 28 days?, testing June 26

posypoo · 21/06/2012 09:31

thanks! Em - I did a variation on the smep method both times I have conceived. I am also not totally sure I know what it is (and to do it properly you use ovulation sticks and I didn't), but basically I just tried to dtd every other day or so between days about 8 - 20 (tho this month we both gave up on cd15!) and particularly when I noticed the ewcm (nice!)

posypoo · 21/06/2012 09:36

obviously when you smep would depend on how long your cycle is tho - the ovulation stick prob help if they are of differing lengths, so you know what's going on.

Jodiebodie · 21/06/2012 13:41

Sorry I seemed to have missed a few posts. Welcome Jen and BB.

I hope those who are feeling down are cheered up soon. It's rotten, I blame it on our hormones. I know I have the 'can't stop thinking about babies' hormone surging around my system!

BB I guess you could do a test based on 28 day cycle, so tomorrow (eek!) and 34 day cycle so 28th.

Also just wondering what were everyone's earliest physical signs of pregnancy? Mine was definitely my boobs being ever so slightly fuller at 4.5 weeks, the morning sickness was next at about week 7-12. I know this question is getting a bit ahead of myself!
