About to start TTC#2 - does anyone want to come along for the ride?

Hi there,

So, DD is going to be 3 in June and I'm going to be 38 two weeks later. About a year ago I wanted a 2nd DC but DH didn't. I then changed my mind at Xmas.

DH has now changed his mind and persuaded me so finally we're in agreement and ready to go.

CD1 is due this week and then we can start.

Is anyone else ready to TTC#2?

Hello can I join?

DD is 21m, and I'm 30 (just!!). We sort of started trying for #2 this month... We had some frozen embryos which we'd made before some medical treatment last year and wanted to try them before trying naturally (DD was natural - first month, which was nice :) ). Anyway, one didn't make it defrost properly and the other had pretty much stopped growing when they transferred it back (week ago today) so I'm not holding out much hope.

Although I've been feeling rough rough rough the last few days. Huge waves of nausea, cramps (low, front ones) etc. Very unusual for me in my LP. So obviously I've got all excited, POAS today (9dpo) and BFN. Unsurprisingly - DD wasn't a BFP until 12dpo and even then it was super-hold-it-up-to-the-light-and-squint-faint. However I'm just feeling ill this morning rather than nauseous, so maybe it's just a bug. So mean that it's right when I 'might' be feeling pg symptoms.

Anyway.

As of next cycle, we'll be SWI. Desperate to get going: was ill last year so had to wait, and am fed up with everyone else getting pregnant with #2 (or #3..)!

I've been taking vitex - not sure if it helps or not but it doesn't seem to hinder. Although I do o quite late (cd18-21 normally) so I'm thinking of reducing my dosage next month to see if that can bring forward o (since vitex increases progesterone and decreases oestrogen, and you need oestrogen to o. So goes my GCSE science anyway).

What an essay ;)

oceanstwo · 16/05/2012 08:21

Oh and I've had an 'implantation dip' on my chart the day before the cramps, as well as a blocked nose the night of the cramps (which apparently can be a good sign). So looking good on paper but I'm not convinced. I 'knew' I was pg with DD-was just waiting for the tests to confirm it!- but don't feel like that this time..

Wish it was next week and we cd start our proper ttc cycle!!

somethingwittynot · 16/05/2012 09:06

we start out proper cycle the end of this week beginning of next am i theo nly person not charting and temping? i tend to have sex every/other day take my supplements wich i need to go and buy and check cm and position

PickledFanjoCat · 16/05/2012 10:27

Hi oceans just read through your post, hope you get some good news and don't need to stay on the thread for long.

I've started taking 2 vitex a day in the hope it will regulate my periods, I am a late ov too day 22-23 last month and usually day 20 I was hoping it would help! Looks like it might not.

I've also ordered some b6. To be honest I rattle I'm taking that many tablets.

Keep us posted how you get on fx for you.

EddieIzzardIsMine · 16/05/2012 10:43

Hiya, just updating to say I'm out this month too, AF arrived 4 days late so trying again this month...

Sorry to hear everybody elses news too, heres hoping for a better month this month and a mini MN baby boom!

PickledFanjoCat · 16/05/2012 11:55

I was late too Eddie, annoying! I'm sure I was never late before I started this monitoring!

oceanstwo · 16/05/2012 12:59

Thanks Pickled - really hope you're right but I'm not getting my hopes up. Keep thinking there's a line, but it's clearly an evaporation. That and keep standing in front of the mirror without a top on to examine my boobs!! Plus the nausea has massively decreased: it was so so strong during the tww with DD, and it has been up until today. Today though I've had a few waves but nothing major and definitely less than yesterday.

Just so frustrated that the one month I could actually be pregnant is the month I get massive 'pregnancy' symptoms. Why couldn't I have got them the months I knew for sure I couldn't be pregnant??

Anyway.

I've cut down on the supplements I was taking!! Was taking 5-6 a night which seemed a little excessive when I don't know of any fertility issues (other than o-ing a bit later than I'd like to - clearly works though since DD was conceived on cd23!). But I'm scared to stop the vitex entirely in case it's the only thing holding me together!! Don't want to stop it, everything stop working, and then have to wait months for it to have an effect again!!

Sorry Eddie - rubbish. But at least you've got another shot fairly soon :)

oceanstwo · 16/05/2012 14:46

And now I'm having a major hot flush. My hormones are totally out of whack.

(I'll stop hijacking the thread now ;) )

Artura · 16/05/2012 16:20

Hello all,

Just thought I'd pop back and see how everyone is getting on. I miss you! Sorry Aday and Something that this hasn't been a lucky month. I'm trying to get round to joining the antenatal thread but it's so MASSIVE, bit scary to walk into such a big room of new people.... Anyone else from this thread taken the plunge yet?

We're currently on our hols, and I'm trying to disguise my disgustingly massive tum (must be progesterone bloat or something, look around 16 weeks preg already) and trying not to retch each time we enter the hotel buffet.
It seems like tempting fate to sell my CBFM at this stage (not getting rid of it until the little'un is actually in my arms) but I'd really recommend it. It worked out my OD much later than I'd been working it out from temping.

Good luck everyone and see you soon xx

PickledFanjoCat · 16/05/2012 17:08

Glad it's all going well. I bought one and am starting it this month so I hope it's does the trick! Grin

somethingwittynot · 16/05/2012 17:09

my SIL due in november has gone to hospital with bad pains in her stomach

oceanstwo · 16/05/2012 18:00

Thoughts and prayers are with you something.

SuperSlattern · 16/05/2012 20:35

Oh something, fingers crossed its a false alarm.

Just thought I'd pop in and say hello. I've been a bit busy with the run up to the wedding.

sounds promising! I had flushes with DD before I POAS.

Pickled I find making an expensive purchase like that usually does the trick. Sods law you wont get your monies worth Wink

PickledFanjoCat · 16/05/2012 22:22

My DP said he wants three now to get our moneys worth! He has since retracted that!

oceanstwo · 17/05/2012 06:36

Any news something?

Is the CBFM any good? I'm fairly sure that I know when I o based on pant snot but would consider getting it if it would help...

So had a huge nausea episode on the train home last night - felt awful. But then felt fine again. Have woken feeling rubbish, but that's mainly a cold I think.

And BFN this morning (10dpo..). So have put the tests in the glove compartment in the car so I am unable to test.

Am just concerned that there's something else wrong if (when) I'm not pg: have been feeling really off colour this last week... Starting to get a bit worried..

SuperSlattern · 17/05/2012 06:50

Oceans when would you AF be due?

oceanstwo · 17/05/2012 06:53

Monday evening/Tuesday morning. Normally have a 13/14 day LP.

thehomesecretary · 17/05/2012 07:43

AF here this morning so I'm out this month.

An 8 day LP this month though. I'm really worried- that's way too short isn't it?

And I feel PMSy, and tired.

Triple boo Sad

PickledFanjoCat · 17/05/2012 08:37

That is on the short side, I think you need 10 days. Is that normal for you? Might just be a freaky cycle there are lots of them around this month!

PickledFanjoCat · 17/05/2012 08:37

Are you sure about when you ovulated?

PickledFanjoCat · 17/05/2012 08:38

How you feeling today ocean?

oceanstwo · 17/05/2012 08:52

I agree - could you have ovulated earlier than you thought?

Pickled - not feeling great. Mildly nauseous, still a bit blocked up, and just feeling generally under the weather. Haven't been able to sleep (woke up at 4am and couldn't get back to sleep, and was up from 4 yesterday with DD) which probably isn't helping. Also very light headed.

Just fed up. Without going into all the gory details, we went through a round of IVF pre-chemo which ended up being pointless since the chemo didn't ultimately harm my fertility (thank God). It was horrible. And then we had the trauma last week of being told one embryo died and the other wasn't looking at all good. And then we did the transfer since we wanted to give this embryo the best chance (I'd rather it died in me than in a petri dish...), so we went through that knowing the embryologists and doctors thought it was a waste of time (they were lovely but even so).

And now my body seems to be playing tricks on me. I had no expectation at all that it would work until I started feeling rough at just the 'right' time. Which has got my hopes up although I know the odds are very small. So now I'm worried that there's something else wrong.

And DH is away with work as per usual. Not back until Friday and in a totally different time zone so can't speak with him until this afternoon.

Boo.

PickledFanjoCat · 17/05/2012 10:07

Ah thats rough. I suppose its only a couple of days and you will know one way or the other - you may be having symptoms or if not coming down with something. I dont think its anything to worry about if you did get your BFP this month that you feel rough, I think that quite a few women I have spoken to, and seen on the internet have sickness etc quite early sometimes, and as well you are probably quite stressed out with it.

At least you know that you have given it your best chance like you say.. it would have been a hard decision not to try with that embryo, and now you know you have done the best that you can with it.

Not long to wait now, it must be horrible for you, I am normally on pins anyway cant imagine how you feel.

I have decided to ditch all herbs and stick to vitamins. I took Royal Jelly last month and I recently saw it can delay ovulation. I dont even really know why I started taking it, I got carried away and ordered loads of stuff. Ditto Vitex.

oceanstwo · 17/05/2012 12:43

Thanks for understanding.

It's not that I'd be upset about not being pregnant: more that my hopes will have been raised and then dashed. I honestly had no hopes at all from this cycle due to the state of our embryo after defrosting, and my 'symptoms' over the last week have raised that little 'what if?!' in my head. Which is why it'll seem so mean if/when I'm not pregnant that I got sick THIS week rather than any other...

And if I'm not pregnant, I'd rather just get my period today and start a new cycle than have this lingering hope for a few more days which is then destroyed.

I go through phases of buying lots of supplements/herbs too! They all sound such miracle workers :) My latest thinking is soy isoflavones - nature's Clomid apparently. If I don't get pg this month or the next then I might research them a bit more (am so impatient!!).

somethingwittynot · 17/05/2012 13:29

so SIL sand baby are fine shes 13-14 weeks along and had high heart rate and has been given medication to take pressure of her stomach
