There's cake for scoffing, backs for patting, and screeching death metal for all your METALLING moments. All welcome!

Our last thread reached 1000 posts so i hope you have all found your way here! I have steaming hot Brew chocolate croissants (or as my colleague said 'chocolate pasties'), blueberry muffins, grapefruit segments and hot buttered toast for brekkie!

Settle into the mosh pit, we have special VIP area's for those on the 2WW, the new bumps metalling with segregated areas for the first/second/third trimesters and the club class cocktail bar for those who have just got AF and can get-pissed let loose for the first two weeks!

Pebs i'm really glad they finally gave you the right antibiotic Hmm if the asprin is urgent for you in PG then i'd test today. (I appreciate if you get a BFP then the mental anguish is just starting, though). Fingers crossed for you x

MandaHugNKiss · 13/02/2012 11:21

pebs I think you ought to test, on balance. but, y'know, I am a bit of a pusher!

missC I think you'd be surprised at how 'easy' it will be for you to get extra care (for care read scans in early pg). Firstly, though, you need to find out if your epu is self referal or if your GP must and then take it from there.

I've posted on my post natal thread re: my visit to chez bruce last night so I'll copy/paste it here too:

So, as I said, I expected a glass of champagne on arrival by way of apology for having to reschedule us... and indeed, we did get that. THe manager came over and was very apologetic and thanked us profusely for coming.

THe menu arrives quickly along with a parmesan biscuit and a choice of three bread (poppy seed, walnut or foccacia) all made on the premises. I choose foie gras and toasted brioche, DF the pork terrine to start and l lamb breast for main, he cote du boeuf. The boeuf is technically only for two, with a £5 pp supplement, but they agreed instantly to let us 'mix and match'. THe food is simply beyond scrumptious. And our waitress was discreetly attentive, if a little demure. But when I joked that I 'wanted to lick the plate' when she took away our main plates she suddenly came alive, telling me of a time she actually DID! At Gordon Ramsey, no less. Her boyfriend is a patissier and thinks it's funny to tell them, where ever they go, that it's her birthday. Cue a little something complimentary, sweet, with a candle... and often singing! Getting fed up of it she warned him on the way to GR that 'you know them all here; if you say it's my birthday I WILL lick the plate' he was of the opinion she wouldn't dare. 'It was only boeuf bourguignon, but delicious and you know I've never seen a birthday candle since!'

After her confession, she became much chattier and then, when she came to get our dessert order I said 'Oh, I can't decide between three...' she asked which three and then took DF's order (which was blood orange sorbet, the simpliest, most 'boring' if you will, on the menu! She joked it was a wussy choice and I explained he wasn't a dessert fan at all... She says to him 'If I surprise the lady, do you mind?' and he said of course not).

Well. She bought me ALL THREE!! And DF got just a single scoop of his sorbet rather than the full amount... but even so, it was a lovely, lovely gesture as the menu is set at one choice per course. And what were they? Of course a hot chocolate pudding with praline parfait, a creme brulee which was to die for, so creamy and rich, and 'Poached Yorkshire rhubarb with champagne granita, orange flower water and pistachios' which translated as champagne 'mr frosty' flavoured ice, sitting in an edible sweet cup atop the poached rhubarb in the orange flower water/scattered pistachios.

I valiantly battled my way though at least half of each but 'mr doesn't like dessert' DF polished off the rest, making 'mmmm' noises as he went!

You know when you feel so full that you're ever so slightly sick? Yeah, that was me. Waitress asked if we wanted coffee (commenting she'd never seen anyone smile so much eating their food!) I said 'my head wants it but I just haven't got room!' (was kinda kicking myself as I knew there would be petit four too... I think it was them my head wanted but stomach couldn't accommodate!). She then appears with two little gift bags of truffle and shortcake saying 'I thought you'd say that - these usually come with the coffee'.

So, the bill! THe menu is set, as I mentioned, at £45 per head BUT I'd gotten a deal through toptable for £29.50 per head. DF was driving so only had one beer (not a wine man. £3.75) and we had two bottles of still mineral water (£4 each). Then there was the supplement for the beef. The 'extra' 1 1/2 desserts. The petit four.

We were only charged the £29.50 pp plus DF's beer. There's something about fabulous food with lots of little freebies thrown in at a bargainous price that clearly makes me giddy because as I said, still grinning now!

But you know what? Even paying £45 each and without the extras, it is still good value. It's michelin food but generous portions, maybe twice as much as you'd expect. And although we had no need of the sommelier a quick look at the wine list showed it included some reasonably priced wine (along with some more, eye watering ones... grin )

Absolutely recommend CHez Bruce to you all! I found it to be 'posh', y'know, special, but crucially not stuffy. And the ambiance was quietly buzzing.

The top table deal is still available, for sundays and mondays... the next lot I can see on the website are for 20th Feb. Just sayin'

pebspop · 13/02/2012 11:21

i might just take the aspirin anyway and see if af comes. it's only small doseage anyway so won't really affect me if i take it now.

really don't want to test. i will be gutted if it's bfn and stressing out if it's bfp.

crystaltea36 · 13/02/2012 11:29

I keep popping in and out of here! mc New Year's eve, was going to leave it a few months before trying again but find myself trying again now!! This is probably a bit of a TMI question but I was wondering after you've DTD if the next day you lose a blob of you know what, does that mean the swimmers didn't make it up there?! Sorry just wondered if anyone knew?!

farfallarocks · 13/02/2012 12:18

manda I am a big fan of chez bruce, you must be round the corner from me :)

pebs don't you need to take heparin as well or have I got that wrong? I can understand not wanting to metal just yet but I was told what you do before 6 weeks is very imporant (also in heparin camp)

WhyAlwaysBoris · 13/02/2012 12:19

I have no idea what the answer to that question is, crystaltea36, but I'd like to know too if you come up with one!

pebspop · 13/02/2012 12:46

I do need to take Heparin as well but they said I wouldnt need that until after they have seen an early scan (poss around 6/7 weeks) to make sure everything is ok.

I wil test in the morning then. if it's bfn then so be it!

pebspop · 13/02/2012 12:47

crystal i think the good swimmers just get straight up there more or less immediatley. the rest is just fluid to carry them on their way!

thats why some of the lie with you legs in the air advice is a bit nonsense - the good stuff have already got to where it needs to be!

Moominsarescary · 13/02/2012 13:05

Like peb said, I think I remember something about what comes out being the excess fluid they use to swim up the vagina to the cervix

leedy · 13/02/2012 14:07

[waves at everyone, passes around some nice Green & Black's dark choc]

Hello people in shiny new thread! Have been offline for a bit away at a conference so sorry if I've missed any important news. Met up with a recently updiffed friend and was actually ok about it, just happy for her, I think my head is probably in a better place than it's been for the last few months.

Of course the travelling has banjaxed my temping, so while I think I'm around ovulation time (and took, er, appropriate action) I am not sure. Hmm.

(TMI department: I got one of those ouchy bumping against the cervix things when engaged in activities this morning - am I imagining it or does your cervix get lower around when you ovulate?)

FrozenNorthPole · 13/02/2012 14:08

Sorry to charge in here being AAM having been away all weekend (my birthday, so parents came to visit) but I'm so frustrated with the lack of extra care provided to people with repeat loss in my area and finding it really hard to stay positive.

Desperate to schedule another scan before 12 weeks (I'm 8 now) but really can't afford to keep doing it privately. Asked at the EPAU (well, to be blunt, it's not a unit ... it's what the sonographers do during their lunch hours a couple of times a week!!) and their response was that I should just lie to my GP about bleeding if I want another scan. I really, really don't want to lie about that kind of thing - I like and trust my GP. Given that evidence shows that early monitoring leads to better outcomes, I was wondering whether anyone knew of any national policies on this kind of thing .. or whether, as usual, it's just down to the postcode lottery again.
Sad

whatsoever · 13/02/2012 15:09

Hello all. Anyone fancy a Brew?

Had my check-in appointment with the community midwife today. Not a lot happened and she wasn't the usual one but she booked me in for my booking appointment (now at SureStart rather than the hopsital where it was last time). She also said that the Gynae ER (the equivalent of the EPU at my local hospital) would scan me straight away for bleeding or abdominal pain, and if they could fit me in, they would scan me for worry as well because of the previous MC.

That did reassure me a bit but I've booked in for a private scan at 8 weeks anyway. I think just having it in the diary makes me feel better. Whether I get that far without panicking/ something bad happening and me rocking up at the Gynae ER is another matter.

Sorry to hear about the hard time you are having Frozen. Afraid I don't know what the national policy is - practice does seem to be quite different in different areas.

Moominsarescary · 13/02/2012 15:14

Hi frozen I was told in our area you got early scans after 3 mc, 3 seems to be some sort of horrible magic number in this area as you have to have been through 3 prem births or two prem births and a second trimester mc to have a surgical stitch.

It makes me realy angry, my last pg was high risk and I was under consultant care but I was still only entitled to a 12 week and 20 week scan

Hi leedy my cervix moves down during ovulation and af. Glad your feeling in a better place now.

Well Jacobs due date would have been this fri, we will be going to the cemetery at some point, I have bought some ornaments for his grave. I do feel abut better this week, last week was hard due to it being the time the csection was booked and going into the maternity unit to meet with the consultant. The reception women sent me to anti natal , which was awful but they got me out of there pretty sharpish!

MissCoffeeNWine · 13/02/2012 18:14

Sounds very yummy manda, wish I could go but 200 miles is a bit far for dinner.

pebs I understand the unwillingness to test, I do, but aren't you kind of metalling already - it's like a lose-lose-lose situation - no test (metal) BFN (metal) BFP (metal) Big hugs to you. Good luck.

welcome crystal can't say I've ever analysed DP's gubbins to such an extent, but what goes up must come down eh?

Hiya leedy glad you're in a better place. Fingers crossed for your appropriate cervix-bumping action.

frozen I know, I wouldn't want to lie either. Could you come up with something that's not a lie but sounds good enough to convince? Not entirely sure what, mind. Policy wise I think it's a similar three losses gets you a bit more care round here but second-tri losses seem to give a bit more 'clout' on those stats, I don't know whether that's good or bad.....I think it's because sometimes things can be done for the causes of those whereas there's hardly ever anything to be done with a first-tri, but I could easily be talking out of my bum as I've only ever read about second-tri losses generally.

whatsoever that sounds decent service, fingers crossed for you.

moomins that policy is just shit.

For my metalling, I have decided to wait until Wednesday and ring my own MW and see what she says. I've only met her once but she said I could call her with concerns. At least then I'll have hit 10 weeks and feel vaguely justified in having a metal, something about those double figures makes me very nervous. I have no idea if I've got a baby on board, or not. Not a clue. Wish I had an instinct for these things. I've started to perk up health wise though, so that's better.

newtonupontheheath · 13/02/2012 19:21

Hi everybody...I've been lurking, haven't completely gone away no such luck guys! Im a little bit in denial, trying to get through each day until I feel I'm out of my own personal danger zone. Merrily metalling away Grin

I'm 7+3 today Smile still not feeling proper morning sickness but foggy and slow enough to know its lingering under the surface. week and a bit til booking in with mw and if memory serves me right, it'll be another 3 or so weeks until I get a scan date through. Mw said they don't scan early after mc but was quite happy to refer me if I was worried, which as yet I'm not. (no more than usual metalling anyway!)

I'm on my phone so can't add to stats or name check properly but hi to all the ladies from the old thread and welcome to all the new ladies. I really hope you get lots I support from everybody Smile

If somebody could do the honours and add me to the stats:

Does anyone mind if I put the stats on a seperate thread and link to it here - still in Conception - so we can keep it nice and tidy and remember everyone and not get lost? I think a few threads do this, easier than scrolling and we can take it with us.
