TODAY is the day!

sunnyg · 21/03/2012 17:16

Josie I am so sorry your scan didn't go as you had hoped. Really hope your 4pm appointment brings happier news. Don't give up and don't feel like you have let anyone down. This journey is such a roller coaster but you are doing really well.

Italian you star showing us all how to be positive and calm. And don't you worry about that lining for a second. It can definitely change quite quickly and I'm sure when you are back next week it'll be muchos plump

Mini and pocket darls fingers crossed for your appointments. Will be waiting to hear.

Lexie your consultant sounded knowledgable and fair. They aren't always. I can also confirm a HSG isn't too bad. If you do decide to look into egg-donation in the UK perhaps look at those clinics that also do egg-sharing. I know the clinic I'm with says they can sometimes find a donor (like me) for a recipient in 6 months.

Today I feel like singing from the rooftops. Finally some news and some FANTASTIC NEWS! Yesterday I picked up DH's records finally and rang clinic. They told me they had started matching. And today, less than 24 hours later I got a call from clinic to say wooo hoo they've found a recipient! OMG egg sharing here I come!!!!! It never rains it pours eh! Thank you all for your support with the dramas of getting those records and getting to this point. It's been quite a wait but I feel like things are really happening. Starting on pill (yes ironically) in next few days and off to clinic in next week to get rest of schedule.

WOOO HOOO WOOOO HOOO WHOOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!

big hugs to everyone oxoxo

Italiangreyhound · 21/03/2012 17:38

Hi all, please do send up a quick preayer (if you are a prayer) I am having problems breathing and also palpitations when I exert myself at all, which I do not do a lot. It is frustrating as not sure if the medication is causing it or something else. I am sure I will be OK - looking forward to next week and no work.

Love to all.

Lexie1970 · 21/03/2012 18:10

Josie - sorry your news has not been better. Today has been a horrible shock for you and hopefully when things settle you might find that there is another route you can take..

Italian - I hope your breathing has improved and the palpitations have stopped - is this all tied up with your medication or do you have underlying health problems? If the weather stays nice it could be a nice week off :)

Thanks for the reassurances that the hsg is not quite as bad as I have read - best get some nurofen and ST's in stock [ grin]

Re my consultant - I am pleased that he didn't give us false hope and so for the time being I will keep taking my temperature and using the clear blue fertility monitor. Every month I ovulate is a potential chance we may strike lucky and I am eternally thankful that we have got DS. TBH I am not sure that donor eggs and IVF is where we want to go. I am 42 in a few weeks and britain's oldest mother said in paper today that she left it too late - jeez I feel knackered with a 5 year old so realistically if we haven't conceived this year it will be time to move on.....

Tomorrow is another day

Xx

Lexie1970 · 21/03/2012 18:11

Oh and I love the apprentice [ grin][ grin]

MiniH · 21/03/2012 18:45

Sunnyg - congrats on your match! I always thought the whole pill thing pre-egg sharing was ironic Grin

Italian - seriously doesn't sound good. I'll be thinking of you and hope everything is o.k.

Well, appointment for me went o.k. We both had to practice injecting the air - I know, not exactly sure how that helps prepare us, but I guess we had to practice putting the needle on and pushing the needle down. It all feels a bit surreal tbh. Am a bit worried as day 1 of injections could be next wednesday, which is the day we're at a friends wedding. The prospect of doing first injection in hotel toilets surrounded by wedding guests is crazy, but i'm ignoring that as knowing my cycle I should be fine and not need to inject until the next day - fingers crossed. I didn't get much of a straight answer on gym/exercise, but they confirmed I can carry on as normal until my day six ultrasound, so that's the plan for now and then i'll ask them again then. We also had chat with finance woman and, gulp, bill will be a little under £5k. That does include ICSI charge though of almost £1k so we'll have that refunded if DH's swimmer's are strong enough to go it alone on the day. Just need to digest it all really now and keep my brain active on other stuff to stop me pondering it too much.

Apprentice could be just the thing........

hugs to you all xx

Scrummybumb · 21/03/2012 19:30

italian hope you called a nurse to check whether you should go to hospital. I hope it's just exhaustion. You sounded so positive. Will say my prayers for you. and will relax in front of apprentice tonight!

josie sorry to hear about your scan. I hope the blood tests brought better news. Hang in there darling.

sunnyg that's amazing news! Grin Grin Grin

pocket hoping we'll be cycle buddies....

minih ARGC said moderate excersise before IUI and none after. I'm sticking to moderate plan - walking/yoga/Pilates - anything that is safe in pregnancy

lexie I hope you get your natural BFP. 42 is not old!

Can't recall who asked, but I'm trying to get my FSH down by acupuncture, hypnotherapy CDs and that moderate excersise - and wheatgrass, although I know that's a bit risky with immunes, but my cytokines were ok so I figured I could take the risk.

I'm 4DPO having had really painful ovulation pain on Friday night. So bad in fact, I couldn't stand. So decided to use Moxi (Chinese herb that you alight and keep close to your skin - it generates heat) and that really helped. Otherwise, just enjoying my new role at work and the sunshine Smile

Hello to lucy lissy mo teds keziah and others.

Am feeling better and seeing my GP on Friday. Thank you.

hugSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS to Josie thinking of you.

bugsylugs · 21/03/2012 20:57

josie I hope this afternoons appointment gave better news. What a torrid time you are having of it. Hugs
italian hope you are ok that seems along time to wait if you are breathless thanks for letting us know re apprentice had no idea is now series linked.
sunnyg great news you sound really upbeat as you should
pocket how did it go how is it stepping back on the roller coaster.
minih love the idea of injecting the air!!!

Sorry for not name checking more. Dh did his repeat sample today they were meant to phone but did not. GP has agreed to all but one of the level tests and karyotyping as not avail on nhs, referral went last week to recurrent m/c clinic. Do I do immune testing?

Waves to all the rest and hope new mummies are doing well

JosieSmith1 · 21/03/2012 21:54

Just a quick update. Nurse phoned to say the blood results showed that not a lot is happening so they're going to discuss it tomorrow and get back to us in the afternoon. I'll update you then.

P.S Italian I hope you're ok? And fab news SunnyG

Will name check properly tomorrow but thank you everyone Thanks

MoJangled · 21/03/2012 22:01

Josie, big big hugs, what a devastating disappointment after all your work. Any chance they could increase the dose of stims? Hang in there Chickie, they often say the first cycle's a trial run to learn how your body behaves. Just remember, you're invincible.

Mini loving the Easter eggs!

Italian heart stuff does not sound good, I hope you're taking it easy. Maybe caused by all the blood rushing womb-wards to make a luscious lining...

Lexie you're a spring chicken! And you sound remarkably together. If you want to talk donor cycles abroad drop me a line. I had DS by DE at 42, best thing I've ever done, but I was devastated to need DE.

Sunny whoop whoop! That happened incredibly fast! Good luck good luck Xx

Pocket any news?

So my clinic are now talking about intralipid and strong steroids support for our final final final (pah) cycle having found evidence of chlamydia in my menstrual sample. I tested negatively for it before but apparently it can go into cells xnd hide. We both get a month if mega antibiotics to try to nuke it, but my immune system us likely to be inflamed. Don't know whether to be irritated (i TOLD them I was worried about immunes last time) or relieved (at last I get immune support). Likely to be cycling in May.

Pocket1 · 22/03/2012 07:22

Josie sweetie so sorry to hear your news - am hoping that you get better news when they call you.

italian you poor thing. am so glad you're going to gp - wouldn't hurt to get yourself signed off so that you can rest over be important net week or so x

Brilliant news Sunny. 24 hours is just amazing. May those eggs be juicy for you!

Scrummy very happy to buddy up - will likely be going for FET mid May. What are your dates?

Mini glad today went well. I think/hope the injections get easier for you. I think everyone is warned icsi is a possibility but hope you dont need it and you can spend the money on shoes and baby clothes.

Mojangled bless you, sounds like you've got a tonne if stuff being thrown at you. Hope you get some clarity soon! Welcome to the May cycle troop, you can join me and possibly Scrummy too!

Bugsy great that you can get most tests done by Nhs - would they treat you too or is it just the testing?

Immunes is a huge question and one I'm struggling with at the moment too? Its so expensive. I have been told its not scientifically proven and yet have read so much about it's success on mn. Can anyone give me an idea on testing and treatment costs as I'm getting my knickers in a twist looking online!

Clinic also looking into all options for us. I may do presnisolone, aspirin (poss celaxine instead). Humira has been mentioned too. we may go for preventative meds without testing. I am going to get thyroid function tested by gp too.

af due next week so 3 ish weeks after we get downreg jab (hated that last time as it made me so ill). Then its countdown to FET probably mid may!

JosieSmith1 · 22/03/2012 14:35

The nurse just phoned... she says I have to come in for another scan on Saturday and we'll see from there. So although there's still the potential for it all to be over on Saturday, they must still have hope, otherwise they wouldn't be trying any more. I hope I'm not getting my hopes up for nothing! I don't see there being any difference from yesterday to Saturday but you never know...

Italiangreyhound · 22/03/2012 17:30

Josie all best wishes for Saturday.

Pocket only doing about 3.5 hours today and 3.5 hours tomorrow then off for two weeks.

Nurses say I need to get a replacement tablet for the one I have come off.

Hugs to all.

Pocket1 · 22/03/2012 17:33

Italian and Josie I have everything crossed for you both (and have said a prayer or two) that you both get the progress you need for your treatments over the next week or two. Keep in touch xx

sunnyg · 22/03/2012 17:35

Josie big hug and good luck for Saturday my dear.

Italian very glad you are ok. Sounds like you really need that break.

MiniH · 23/03/2012 09:23

Glad you are a little better Italian.

Josie - good luck for tomorrow.

Mojangled - that's quite scary re the chlamydia hiding, but at least you are getting immunes now so end result is good.

Am feeling quite upbeat still but dreading pms - have come to realise I get really depressed around end of cycle, and it's not even like I feel sad it's unsuccessful, I'm just get really morose - kind of like when I drink gin. So, on a mission to stave it off have lots of jobs planned for the weekend that should keep me upbeat - and maybe a little trip to the bakery for a yummy cake. Am expecting call from drug company to get my order of meds in so that's another little step forward.

On a random note, did anyone see John bishops week of hell last night? If you want to feel inspired and massively awed take a look. It made me a little teary but in a good kind of way. Seriously, seriously impressive man.

BadgerFace · 23/03/2012 18:52

Can I join your thread? I'm just starting my first round of IVF - I have to do my first Buserelin injection tomorrow whilst DH is somewhere over the Atlantic so will be on my own for it. But maybe that's better!

Did anyone get bad side effects from Buserelin? I'm trying to convince myself that I won't have any so I don't dwell on it...

Pocket1 · 23/03/2012 23:00

Mini you're so right to treat yourself to a cake. This can be a bumpy old ride and so it's good to treat yourself. I saw 'Bish' on he tv, what an incredible man and a very moving show.

Welcome BadgeFface (love your name). You are a welcome addition and you'll get lots of support here. I'm afraid I haven't had to inject so I cant help - but someone will be along soon who can. Sorry you're staring while you're on your own but we are here if you need a hand to hold. Best of luck with the ivf - looking forward your BFP announcement Smile

Pocket1 · 23/03/2012 23:02

Sorry BadgerFace ironic that whilst saying I like your name I manage to misspell it. Am rather rubbish on the mobile Wink

Italiangreyhound · 24/03/2012 00:33

BadgerFace hi to you and welcome. There can be side effects, I've had achey hands and lumpy boobs. But I've also used it and got no side effects.

Josie good luck for tomorrow.

It looks like my heart problems with palpatations last year, havecome back now I am off the tablets. I am a bit scared and fed up with my health. But doc says it should not effect treatment. I am also anemic!

Italiangreyhound · 24/03/2012 00:42

Dr did ask me a few times if I could be pregnant, I said no quite emphatically, then he asked again and I said I felt sure I was not then I remembered, I had been scanned that morning! So he yes, that was an answer he could believe!

maplecake · 24/03/2012 08:43

Hello - please can I join your thread? It looks like a great place to be. I had 2 Day ET yesterday with just the 1 embryo (5 cell) after ICSI. It was touch and go whether we would go ahead at all as scan on Mon showed just the 1 main follie. In the end they said it was our decision so we thought we would just go for it! Feel very lucky to have the one on board and feeling as positive as can be at the moment!

DH has just gone for a long cycle and I'm planning on spending the whole day in bed, although rather gutted not to be making the most of the amazing sunshine.

BadgerFace Buserelin gave me bad headaches, night sweats and terrible mood swings. My poor DH was incredibly patient - even though I threatened to divorce him in Waitrose after he picked up the wrong kind of fish and then promptly burst in to tears. That said, I think I was very unlucky. A friend experienced no side effects at all. Fingers crossed you will be fine!
