Conception

When's the best time to get pregnant? Use our interactive ovulation calculator to work out when you're most fertile and most likely to conceive.

Those rats are jolly well going to be smacked this cycle and AF shall have arrows, hatred and misery cast upon her! No argument shall be brooked on both points.

Rubbish thread title, apologies.

Morning Imps! How're you? So lovely to read your post about your OH being on board, and offering to do a SA and everything - that's great! Not that you'll need it, of course Xmas Grin My DH was so worried about TTC that he'd offered to have one before we'd even started trying, bless him... not that I think he'd have agreed so readily if the time had come!

How's everyone else?

Who's next for some testing? We need some Christmas BFPs!

Popcorn, my parties were good thank you!

GreenOlives, so sorry about your rubbish day yesterday :( I think lots of people would get upset by such things, so it's only natural that you would get even moreso.

SweetieTinselandBaubles · 20/12/2011 08:35

Morning ladies - rat smackets I think is the new term?? Xmas Grin

GreenOlives so sorry to hear of such a terribly sad day at work for you, really put into perspective things that go on where I work. I take my hat off to all who work in your profession and deal with such things on a regular basis.

Beedle sorry to hear about the disagreeable pee stick, fx for a more agreeable one later this week

I think the evil witch is circling for me too. Had terrible cramps, very painful, last night and a bit this morning. It is very unusual as I don't really suffer with painful periods, especially not before she arrives Xmas Confused. Am currently 12 DPO and usually have regular LP of 15 days, have been spotting more pinky CM Xmas Blush since 8DPO too. All very bizarre, goodness only knows what is going on. I might risk PIACR tomorrow if AF hasn't shown up. Xmas Confused

beangrower · 20/12/2011 08:45

Oh Olives - that sounds heartbreaking. I hope you did get a good cry; it's a must. Having DS/DH is one thing but you've still experienced an MC and it must have been an awful shock when you realised it was ectopic. I don't think my cousin - who lost twins around 23 weeks (virus sent her into early labour) - will ever really be the same again and told me she was concerned about Christmas as this time last year she was imagining her first Christmas with little ones. I feel so sorry about it all. Your work-life sounds very hard indeed at times, but I imagine rewarding at others.

Pop - great SWI. Christmas time - as mentioned above - is a real toughie. But your BFP is due and will happen.

I agree with Imps, Far - might as well give preseed a go if you don't have much CM. Def don't need much Pre. We're using it as there's nothing to lose really though it aint cheap.

Imps - good luck with your timing around 25th. If I remember rightly Little got a BFP with some very weird SWI dates so restrictions might be helpful. Xmas Wink To answer your question re charting - it didn't help me pinpoint ov (I still used an OPK for that) but it did confirm that ov probably happened as I got the temp rise on cd15. Then scan confirmed ov from the left (though the scanner didn't seem that sure tbh). Temps now sticking at around 37C apart from big rise followed by big dip on 7dpo but DS has been ill so... I'm cd 25, 11 dpo but emotionally quite premenstrual so there you go. After the last couple of months convinced that I was pregnant at this stage in the cycle I'm not going to be so daft.

Beedle - hope you have fun with parents visit. Well done for tidying/cleaning.

Friend just announced a birth. Her fifth! A boy after 3DD and 1DS. She got there before Christmas day, but one of her DDs is a Jesus baby. Funny how you can have two so close together when you reproduce in gangs.

beangrower · 20/12/2011 08:48

Yes - sorry Beedle - missed your BFN. How annoying. But like you say. No AF so your still in the game.

Sweetie - my hat's off too. But importantly - it sounds like you're updiffed to me, btw! Implantation bleed at 8dpo and now cramps. Defo pg. Please confirm tomorrow.

beangrower · 20/12/2011 08:49

Sigh - you're/your get's me all the time. And I'm an editor!!!

farfallarocks · 20/12/2011 08:58

olives that sounds really heartbreaking, poor you and poor lady. I am sure it must have brought all sorts of emotions to the surface again, have some hugs and I am glad your lovely DS has cheered you up.

pop I ma sorry you are feeling low, I think milestones are always a bit tricky, it will happen for you though.

beedle its still way too early to test, give it a couple of days and try again wish I could follow that advice>
sweetie and bean FX for you for some lovely BFPs in the the next few days, it all sounds very promising indeed

cupackes you would have been proud of me yesterday, no booze and we DTD, hoorah!
Actually my new technique of letting DH initiate whilst i was cooking dinner worked. It felt a lot more like SFF than SWI we might have done it in the kitchen but because it was spontaneous I had no opportunity to grab the pre-seed. We are out for a couple of nights now so unlikely to DTD again until thurs so I hope the egglet hangs on until then.

p.s. Boots are doing buy one get one half price on all preggo tests and ovulation sticks, just in case anyone needs them

Loooopy · 20/12/2011 09:07

i've charted this month using fertility friend. completely new to me, but hoping it will give me an idea what my new post baby cycles are like.

So it says i'm now on CD23 and it reckons i could be 6dpo. I thought temps were meant to stay raised past ovulation for 18 days before AF or pregnancy or have i got muddled? as that would make it a long cycle at 35 days! And i thought they were meant to stay raised and above the coverline? Mine dropped below the coverline on 4dpo and 5dpo but now back above coverline at 6dpo. Highly confused. Have no idea when to expect AF or when to be able to test. But at least it does think i ovulated!

sweetie sounds like a BFP on its way to you.

and cannot begin to imagine what it's like losing a baby that far into pregnancy and must be awful having it happen at work, and trying to hide your own emotions in the process.

beangrower · 20/12/2011 09:09

Great SFF-meets-SWI work far. That's what we like to hear, and so nice to be seduced with a spatula to hand, did I really write that?. Time for a bit of morning nooky to compliment the evenings out? I don't think you need Preseed when it's spontaneous and meant to be, do you Far?

PopcornMouseInAReindeerJumper · 20/12/2011 09:16

Olives that sounds awful and, like everyone has said, tears are a totally understandable reaction :( I hope today is better.

sweetie Implantation!! You are so upduffed :o

Beedle it's faaaar to early ? I'm sure the naughty pee-stick will agree nearer AF's not-due date :)

Loopy it's not unusual to have a few dips in your temps; you just need 3 raised temps and a generally high temp following that, iirc. Normal luteal phases are 12-16 days, so you'll end up with a cycle 29-33 days long I reckon :)

farfallarocks · 20/12/2011 09:22

Yes agreed bean, morning SWI is quite tough as DH gets up at 6am but I suppose needs must!!

loopy I don't temp but I think the raised temperature can be anything from 10-16 days, your dip sounds promising as I have read about implantation dips!!

Loooopy · 20/12/2011 09:38

far i'd set an alarm to wake you up "by accident" and then once he is awake too, have your wicked way with your DH! (trust me, once you get your longed-for DC, morning nookie will be a thing of the past so you might as well indulge whilst you can Xmas Grin

and i didn't know you could get implantation dips?! but wouldn't 4/5days dpo be a bit early for implantation?

god, was so easy last time round, didn't chart with DS, was relaxed about it all, figured it might take a year to happen, but he just happened first month of trying, but had read so many things about people having problems conceiving their second that i thought it would help to chart and pay more attention to what my body does, but i think it just makes it worse as its all i think about now!! and about age gaps. and that a September baby would be amazing (as the three of us have b'days in Oct and Nov and then xmas in Dec so Sept would be lovely!) although having said that, a baby in any month would be great!!!

so popcorn you think i could potentially test between 6-10 days from now?

must stop getting excited, the chances of it happening first time again must be very low indeed, but can't help thinking what if....and we did SWI CD14 and C16 with OV on CD17....someone please slap me!!

so is there anyone else out there who isn't the slightest bit ready for xmas and hasn't turned into a domestic goddess?? or is it just me?!

(would offer a platter of home baked goodies, but the best we have here is a half eaten shop bought yule log and some mint and orange club biscuits!!)

PopcornMouseInAReindeerJumper · 20/12/2011 09:53

Are you able to link your chart? Yeah I reckon you'd be able to test about 14dpo, though you're supposed to wait til AF would have been due (I only have a 13 day LP though) iykwim

SantaAndHisChristmasImps · 20/12/2011 10:52

Kitchen sex, eh Far? Not done that before - wouldn't be the easiest in our rather small galley kitchen plus I think we have a resident mouse at the moment but may well give it a shot!

Looopy can you post your chart?? You too Bean! I love looking at other people's charts!

Stasi if you're about - have you got DH's SA results yet? And Whim how are you getting along??

Hello to Solars too if you're out there. Hope we see you again soon Xmas Smile

Oh, god, how could I fail to mention Sweetie and her A.MA.ZING symptoms???? You sound like a prime contender for our next BFP!!!!!

beangrower · 20/12/2011 11:35

Ooh, thanks for asking Imps - I think I've managed it here: My Ovulation Chart

Oh - the mice love a bit of Nooky, Imps. And now your DH is being so lovely don't you think you need to christen that worktop?

I have just applied to be a Chair to a local Trust. You will all appreciate my warped logic, Smacketers: this way I will magically forget that I am TTC and oopsadaisy there's that BFP that I've been gurning over for 12 months.

No illness in our household. Limey.

Yes - haven't heard from Stasi; am worried as she had to see consultant for check up I think maybe yesterday? Sad

18 days high temps (above coverline) means you are prob upduffed Loopy. When AF comes (12-16 days after ov) you get the temp dip below the coverline. Sounds like you don't need to worry too much about conceiving but I think it's good you're charting so you can understand your cycles post DC1.

Sweetie - we're brooking like buggery.

Good luck with the 'early start' Far. Xmas Grin

xxx

Trying again My Ovulation Chart Imps...

beangrower · 20/12/2011 11:37

Gah - dunno how to do it.

SantaAndHisChristmasImps · 20/12/2011 11:40

Looks like OV could have been 14 or 15 DPO Bean - either way, excellent work on the rat smacketing. There's no way that rat will escape unharmed. And your local Trust plan is genius! Guaranteed BFP for you m'lady.

Yes, really hope everything was okay with Stasi's consultation yesterday.

Here Bean!

OP posts:
PopcornMouseInAReindeerJumper · 20/12/2011 11:46

I'd say CD15, bean with your +OPK :)

beangrower · 20/12/2011 11:57

Thanks all. I got cd1 wrong so cd2 here is cd1 IYKWIM! Doh! I think I ov'd eve of Fri (cd14 wot is cd15 on chart). Shows you that those OPK sticks can be a bit slippery as ov was hot on the heels of the +OPK. Anyway - it's all a bit random as times are pretty rubbish and I was up out of bed at weird hours so not really worth taking much notice of. But am glad it will help with not wasting pg tests (18-day rule) and also glad that I appeared to actually ov as I wouldn't have known for sure before. I wish I'd temped/understood all this years ago. Thanks to all of you for encouraging me! Not that I'll have time when I'm Chair of a Trust, don't you know.

CupcakesAndCocktails · 20/12/2011 12:31

Hello everyone

Sorry I can't add anything to the charting as I'm clueless in that area. I'm hoping to find out where my new job is soon and If I get the one without night shifts I'll be joining all you lovely charters. How sad to be excited at the prospect of charting Blush I need to get a life!

Olives sorry to hear about rubbish time at work. It's hard to keep on top of your emotions in those situations especially when you've had a similar experience. I have to try really hard not to empathise too closely with patients and I find it so difficult when I can relate to their situation. Plus it's winter which makes everything so much harder. Well it does in paediatrics so I assume it's the same for you A & E guys. If I look after one more patient with bronchiolitis I'm officially going to go insane! Am glad your feeling a bit better after getting home Thanks

Far I'm impressed with your behaviour, you get a gold star for SFF at the right time of the month Grin

Sweetie you are most definitely diffed. Congratulations! Looopy you too!

CupcakesAndCocktails · 20/12/2011 12:33

Pressed send too early

Beedle it's way too early, wait a few more days to get your obvious BFP Grin

Stasi hope the appointment went ok and your just busy getting ready for Christmas.

PopcornMouseInAReindeerJumper · 20/12/2011 13:30

3dpo, my first coldsore in ten years = totally upduffed :o

beangrower · 20/12/2011 13:38

Xmas Grin Thank goodness it waited til after SWI eh Pop?
