Conception

When's the best time to get pregnant? Use our interactive ovulation calculator to work out when you're most fertile and most likely to conceive.

Those rats are jolly well going to be smacked this cycle and AF shall have arrows, hatred and misery cast upon her! No argument shall be brooked on both points.

Rubbish thread title, apologies.

Oh, and dammit, I forgot to make it Christmas themed. Arse.

Xmas Smile - there, that's better.

Thank you Imps, it feels very festive and jolly in here Xmas Grin

I forgot who asked because it was in the other thread. DH is phoning for his results as I type...

Stasi · 15/12/2011 14:09

I made myself some green tea with mint, to see if it'll help me feel less sick. However, it looks like very cloudy wee.

farfallarocks · 15/12/2011 14:14

Oh imps I love the title!!

bean just saw that thing about your results, I think your FSH looks really good?

There is lasy on the MC thread who just got preggerse with FSH at over 12.

farfallarocks · 15/12/2011 14:17

stasi you feel sick as well, you are soooo up diffed

DeckTheHallsWithPopcornMice · 15/12/2011 14:17

Xmas Grin Imps

Stasi that is soooo exciting, you are officially late today, is that right? And it hasn't dipped on your oral charts which is sooooo positive!!! AND your sick! (not that that's cause of celebration, but, well, you know )

Ask and thou shalt receive - EWCM has arrived! Hurrah!

DeckTheHallsWithPopcornMice · 15/12/2011 14:18

*you're!

Stasi · 15/12/2011 14:27

I'm staying in control of my hopes, and not letting them get too high. It's been too many months of AF showing up when she's not wanted. Still no sign of AF, but a bit if cramping, so maybe she's just been held up by the weather.

DH phoned for his results, but has been told they're not back yet. We put his SA in at the hospital last Wednesday, so I expected them back already. Been told to call again next week.

Me feeling sick is a double edged sword. It was my first sign of the cancer, and with my check-up on Monday I think I'm subconsciously stressing "what if it's back?". I could be feeling sick with nerves, which is self-perpetuating as the longer I feel sick, the more sick I'll feel.

Sorry to put a bit of a downer on that. OFC I'm totally upduffed and everything is fine, and will continue to be so!

beangrower · 15/12/2011 14:28

Stasi is so updiffed. Christmas gift supreme. Hurray. And just married too - what a gossip! Xmas Smile Of course it is bound to be your month if you are waiting for SA results! Let us know as soon as you can.

And hurray to EWCM Pop. Get busy girl.

Thanks Far - yes it seems like my FSH is quite good for my age and apparently (well - Googily at least) this can be more valuable than reading AMH levels too closely anyway (as AMH really only indicates how close/far you are to/from menopause and I kind of knew that anyway!). As I read recently - "if you are ovulating you can get pregnant". Full. Stop. So back to brooking no arguments - one good egg might come along and shake hands with that little wriggler - but holding on to the philosophy that things really are v lovely as they are now so a new beanlet is just an extra joy and I shouldn't feel too bereft to be mum of one. (In fact, v blessed indeed.) I really would like to adopt but DP may require some talking into on this front. But that's a year away at least. Hope you are still feeling v loved up with DH - so appreciated that post. Xmas Smile

Imps - you have a beautiful way with words.

Hope you all flossed last night?

beangrower · 15/12/2011 14:33

Oh Stasi - that's tough on you. Didn't realise you had a meeting with consultant. We are brooking for you that you are updiffed and that all goes really well with the Docs. You sound like you live a very healthy life and surely all the good vibes with marriage etc will do your immune system the world of good?

Brooking story for today - one of DS' little mates at playgroup is so sweet and I enjoy chatting to his mum - also exceedingly lovely. She was telling me today it took 5 years to conceive DC and eventually they had IVF because her DH had a lot of chemo in his earlier years. Their DS is an absolute honey and the pregnancy went really well etc, so they got there in the end.

Where's Olives? Hope she's ok.

musicalmrs · 15/12/2011 14:41

Such a lovely shiny new thread Imps!

Stasi, your temps sound exciting. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Hurrah for EWCM Pop! (seems like a weird thing to be cheering....)

DeckTheHallsWithPopcornMice · 15/12/2011 14:57

Stasi gosh, what a stressful time - I'm sure it'll be fine. It's good that they monitor you so regularly, though. Try not to worry too much :)

I have just finished crocheting myself some winter mittens, they're super soft and squidgey and they have a furry cuff too, nom nom nom

Did your son like his jumper, bean ? :)

beangrower · 15/12/2011 15:21

DS does seem to love jumper, thanks Pop. Loving the persian mittens.

Stasi · 15/12/2011 15:37

Thank you. I go through this each year, but it doesn't get easier. Will be good to have it all over and done with again. I've also got an appointment with a psychologist on Tuesday, I'm going to talk with them about the stress and worry. They're a specialist from the oncologist, so I'm hoping will have something helpful to say. Though if I'm honest I don't know what to expect.

I'm really, really looking forward to finishing up with work. Tomorrow is my last day, and it's pretty much a half day with drinking in the office followed by a meal out, and more drinking. So, if AF turns up I might partake a little more than usual.

I bought lots of wool when I was on honeymoon on Skye, I need to find a pattern to knit with it. However, being hand made and stuff I'll need to understand how thick the wool is, what needles it needs etc. All a bit too advanced for me. I'm also planning on making a simple knitted hand towel from some cotton I bought. I wanted to give it as a Christmas present, but I might have to keep it if it's not done. I wish I had more time at home to do fun crafty things instead of boring work Xmas Grin.

DeckTheHallsWithPopcornMice · 15/12/2011 15:56

Was your cancer fairly recent, if you don't mind me asking? I was just thinking that perhaps you will find it less stressful as time goes on and it become more routine, iykwim. I think it's really positive they monitor you, though - tbh I think everyone should get some kind of regular medical, but I know it's "not cost-effective".

If the yarn isn't labelled, you can work out Wraps Per Inch by wrapping it around a ruler and seeing how many strands fit in an inch, which will tell you if it's Double Knit (11WPI) or sock-weight (14WPI) or whatnot - knitting.about.com/od/yarn/ht/wraps-per-inch.htm
You'll have to make something to remind you of your honeymoon! :)

DeckTheHallsWithPopcornMice · 15/12/2011 15:57

;)

Stasi · 15/12/2011 16:27

AF has started. Sorry to disappoint (as always, my main concern is disappointing other people, mostly DH). I will enjoy getting shitfaced tipsy on the company dime tomorrow though.

Popcorn I was diagnosed back in 2009, but had over a year of symptoms my doctor ignored. I did a silly thing and looked up statistics earlier in the week, I won't post it, because it's depressing for all. The check-ups are good, but I sometimes wish they were more regular than just once a year.

I bought either 5 or 7 balls of wool, hoping it would be enough for a jumper or similar. I'm still a novice knitter though, so am a bit worried about knitting something before I really know what I'm doing. My tension is even and consistent, but I don't know if it's correct. I've never bothered with a tension square

ArcticMunkiiii · 15/12/2011 16:47

So sorry Stasi hope you enjoy your night out though.

13dpo here, not hopeful though feeling crampy and I am sure I saw some pink cm earlier.

Ah well!

farfallarocks · 15/12/2011 16:53

Ahhhh stasi sorry to hear that :( Boo!!

bean thanks for that, yes I love him soooo much at the moment
he is also looking extremely attractive at the moment so hoping SWI will be very enjoyable next week, wey hey

I would post a photo but I am so paranoid about being outed on here, lots of my friends are on here and they could probably figure out who I was by the detail I have given away but still...................

farfallarocks · 15/12/2011 16:54

stasi I missed the part about your appointment, you really have a lot to be dealing with at the moment don;t you you poor bean? Lots of wine for you tonight ok?

Stasi · 15/12/2011 16:59

The plan for AF evening is always a cuddly movie and a couple of glasses of wine. It's one of my favourite type of evenings, so I use it to offset the down I get from AF.

I should feel happy and healthy and "all clear" by Monday evening, and maybe mentally adjusted by Tuesday afternoon. Then I've got my Dad and nephew coming to stay! So a lovely week lined up. All is good in Stasi-land, or will be very soon.

BeedleTheBahHumbug · 15/12/2011 17:03

stasi boo hiss to AF, but at least you'll be able to have your checkup on Mon, much as you want to be pregnant, I imagine it might have been a bit stressful knowing you couldn't have it whilst preggo. Now you can have some holiday SWI and get your BFP in January Xmas Smile
Oh and enjoy your party tomorrow, we have ours tomorrow too Xmas Grin

bean sorry about your friend with the IVF twins, do they think her loss of sight is temporary? I can understand why that would put you off.

sweetie how's my cycle buddy? Still absolutely no symptoms to report here, which is strange as I've only had 1 or 2 cycles since starting ttc without sore boobs. But my temp is high so its not a strange annovulatory cycle. Xmas Smile

DeckTheHallsWithPopcornMice · 15/12/2011 17:05

I agree with far, sounds like a nice glass bottle of vino is in order, Stasi! Could you top up your NHS checkups with private ones, if it would set your mind at ease?

Tension can be fixed with smaller or larger needles, but make sure to check your tension as you knit, too, as tension squares can lie :)

Feeling very fed up with work atm. Trying to focus on all the good bits, like working from home, but I'm not sure it's outweighing the stress today Confused

BeedleTheBahHumbug · 15/12/2011 17:11

Totally off-topic but when did the Facebook like button appear at the top of a Thread? Now I'll be paranoid about pressing it whilst scrolling on my tablet. Much as I obviously like this thread I don't need to tell the whole world Xmas Shock Xmas Hmm
