Those rats are jolly well going to be smacked this cycle and AF shall have arrows, hatred and misery cast upon her! No argument shall be brooked on both points.

Hey lovely brookers

Just a very quick post from me, have sort have given up this month on the rat smacking front. I think I need to as am going a bit mad. Got my day 3 results back now that have me worried so have come back to mumsnet!

Hope you are all ok, only a week to Christmas. Cant wait to hear all about those drunken Christmas smackathons and the inevitable BFPs Wink

DeckTheHallsWithPopcornMice · 19/12/2011 09:18

Hi :)

Bean glad to hear DS is better :)

Sweetie & beedle Ooooo I sense a Xmas Day BFP? :o

Maybe I am soooo impressed by all this festive baking! Those truffles sound a. mazing, and I tried stollen the first time Saturday and loved it :d

My scones were a disaster ? they burnt so badly they were inedible. Luckily there was sooo much food there anyway that it wasn't obvious I didn't have anything to bring Blush

I did the Crimbo shop yesterday, and Tesco was dead. It was like a regular weekday. Lovely.

SweetieTinselandBaubles · 19/12/2011 09:45

Morning festive brookers Xmas Grin

Pop am so jealous of your stress free supermarket run, mine was bedlam. Took me about 2 hours to recover. What ever we don't have now we will have to go without. I can see the local co-op being a life saver.

Cupcakes I have seen you post on the other thread. Good for you getting your bloods done at all, at least you can get things moving in the right direction. Fx for you.

Had a lovely walk yesterday with dog in crunchy fields, we have to be careful where to take her that she can not bump into anything but she loves a nice flat, uncluttered field. Maybe you inspired me to get moving and take her. Felt much better for it.

11DPO here, had slight spotting over the weekend, feel like I am getting cold, slept really badly and was red hot in bed. I could go on but I know I am just winding myself up. Xmas Blush

IMaybeanElf · 19/12/2011 10:28

Morning all!!

Sorry to hear your feeling poorly Sweetie I feel the same today, not nice Xmas Sad How many days till AF isn't due? Glad you had a nice walk. We had a lovely time yesterday, think we probably walked about 6 miles. The pup kept going the whole time, he is so stubborn Xmas Grin

Cupcakes what did the results say? I agree with Sweetie at least now you can move in the right direction.

Little how are you doing?

Smegs you are having a right time ofit at the mo, hope everyone is feeling much better today and that you managed to get a decent sleep.

Bean, thanks for the proposal Xmas Grin and you're right, you have DH's chat up lines right Xmas Grin Your poor DP, how is he feeling today?

SantaAndHisChristmasImps · 19/12/2011 11:39

Helllooooooo rat smackers! I'm back after a lovely weekend of food, friends and general festive frivolities. Gawwwwd I love this time of year.

Sweetie, cold symptoms at 11DPO you say? That seems to be a very frequently occurring symptoms on TwoWeekWait.com so you are clearly and quite obviously up the duff. Hurrah!

Glad DS is better Bean but sorry to hear about DP. I think it must surely be your turn to be waited on hand and foot even though you may not be poorly!

Cupcakes, I read your blood results thread - I have no knowledge of bloods or hormones or anything really but if PCO have been identified then that is one step closer to your BFP. LOOOOOOOOOOOADs of PCO ladies go on to have baybees so don't worry needlessly about it.

Good baking efforts Maybe! I am attempting mince pies this week and then some sausage rolls for Christmas Eve. Then that'll be my Christmas cooking all pretty much done. Roll on Easter!

Right, best crack on. Catch up later!

Hello bakers and drinkers. A bit of a miserable day outside but the supermarket was quiet here too - lucky us, eh Pop? I am off to be indulged by my Mum on Weds (yes, my turn) so didn't have to get too much in. We will be celebrating DP's bonus before I go so got a wee bottle of bubbly and some steaks. Xmas Grin

DP came back from Africa - crashed with illness - then got up early and went to work today. I suppose he hasn't got much choice but it feels a bit like I run a hotel here (bah humbug etc) at least he's feeling better, of course.

Am confused about Cupcakes as haven't seen the results - but hope she's ok. I do agree with Imps that by identifying a problem you are in a better position as you can be treated straight away. I know two women with PCOS who have had babies and then there's all those supermums like Mrs Jamie Oliver. I hope that is a little comforting.

10dpo here and sorry for TMI but got some weird gungey, stretchy CM yesterday - like the sort of stuff you get dried round the edge of a glue pot... Xmas Blush Other than the usual 2ww sore boobs (always get em) I can't report anything. My temping is too amateurish. I've found myself a lot more comfortable re' the mum of one (apple of my eye) and have decided that after the next round of acupuncture and herbs I will put TTC behind me and focus on enjoying some of the luxuries that a smaller family should afford. Xmas Smile

All the dogwalking sounds lovely. Terrier is crashed out by the fire - exactly how terriers should be.

Little - don't feel too lost. It won't be long before you can relax a bit more.

Pop - glad there was lots of scoff at your do. Scones are tricky buggers you know.

TTFN, Brookers. Keep up the Christmas smacking.

CupcakesAndCocktails · 19/12/2011 14:18

Hello everyone

I think my results point to PCOS but my GP has said he has already ruled this out. I was getting a bit worried as I was told to make an urgent appointment but can't get one until January.

Anyway enough about me Smile Pop good work in tescos, I had a hellish experience myself. I left after 30 mins with only half of what I needed. I'm thinking of going very late this evening around 11ish. Sorry to hear about your scones, I'm just about to start some baking now.

Bean glad ds is better, here's hoping dp gets better quickly.

Waves to Imps, Maybe, Sweetie, Green, Beedle, Munkii, Little and everyone else!

leaves Christmas cookies for everyone

farfallarocks · 19/12/2011 14:24

Hello rat smackets, sounds like you all had good weekends.

cupcakes I also have polycytic ovaries (diagnosed from the scan not the blood test) but ovulate regularly etc Why has your GP ruled it out? Can you push for a referral and a scan?
Over 85% of people with PCOS conceive naturally and many of the rest do so with some help from clomid or other proceedures.
I am trying out a low GI diet (Although I fell off the wagon massively this weekend) and some B vits and other supplements.

smegs hope all is well with you?

CD9 here and I am definitely getting the right kind of mucus (nice!) so will try and start the SWI today. We meant to start yesterday but ended up having a very boozy lunch instead and sort of passing out so no SWI!

beangrower · 19/12/2011 14:42

Get smacketing Far - liked your typo Xmas Grin. And good news re' PCOS stats. Diet and booze reduction is said to help innit - but not at Chrimbo, of course!

Cupcakes - Hopefully GP will pass you on for a scan now.

I smacked 4 days in a row this month from -2 to 1dpo. FF was v proud of me. So if that isn't smug I don't what is. Sorry. But good luck too to everyone who is getting the right CM.

farfallarocks · 19/12/2011 14:47

Gah yes I saw that and I now like it, rat smacketing!
I am going to try and play it cool this month to avoid the tension and rows we have had in the past. He knows its the right time so am going to let him make the first move.

Oh I so wish I could be like everyone else we know and get pregnant at the first sniff of a willy

farfallarocks · 19/12/2011 14:47

Good rat smacketing bean which cycle day are you on now?

CupcakesAndCocktails · 19/12/2011 14:49

Hi Far

I've already had a pelvic ultrasound, is that the scan you mean? If so I've been told my ovaries have the appearance of PCO. On day 21 I also had a fasting blood sugar done which my GP said needed to be abnormal to indicate PCOS. I must admit I only know a little about PCOS. I'm going to do some research now.

Right MrsFarfalla you have strict instructions to stay sober tonight (at least sober enough to do the deed!) and get that rat smacked good and proper Wink

CupcakesAndCocktails · 19/12/2011 14:50

Bean I missed your post. Excellent rat smacketing Wink I'm proud of you Thanks

DeckTheHallsWithPopcornMice · 19/12/2011 15:00

Far I knooooow, it's enough to drive anyone insane! When we started ttc I naively thought I'd have a baby by crimbo Confused But I'm really honestly 100% sure you'll be upduffed in no time at all, now you've got your injectiony-business all sorted out :)

Well done bean that's quite a SWI feat!

My CM has dried up today, so I think that's ovulation done and dusted - back on schedule, too, after last month's weird cycle. I think we managed -4,-2,-1 & OV (though I sometimes have EWCM the day after ov, too, so it could have been -3,-1,OV & +1 :o )

SantaAndHisChristmasImps · 19/12/2011 15:05

That is excellent smacketing Bean - did charting help to pinpoint ovulation?? Was it later/earlier/on the day that you expected it to be?

So glad to hear about your cervical mucus Far Xmas Wink. I had a bit of EWCM this morning but it's faaaar to early for that so it must be some mistake. I don't think we've got much scope for smacketing this cycle, given Christmas (tsk, how inconvenient of Jesus to have been born when he was - did he not know that 2011 years later my egg would be popping?) but with any luck, it may be golden egg day on 27 Dec which is when we meet up again after going our separate ways for Christmas. Plus we have Christmas Eve too - so there is still hope I guess!

Cupcakes it's all so confusing isn't it? How irritating that you have to wait so long for an appointment. I wonder why your GP has ruled out PCOS - I'm sure he or she must have his or her reasons, but they may not be that accurate. Brooking super extra hard for you though.

SantaAndHisChristmasImps · 19/12/2011 15:10

Oh, and I meant to say - bless my lovely wonderful OH - yesterday we were talking about baby names (the first conversation about names he's ever joined in with - and he actually initiated this one! He must be serious about having babies with me - hurrah!) and he offered to have a SA to make sure his swimmers are okay! Bless his lovely cotton socks. I told him it's not necessary yet though - we're only on cycle 6 of "proper" TTC but it's nice to think that if we need investigations in 6 month's time he'll be more than willing to join in.

OP posts:
farfallarocks · 19/12/2011 15:13

I don't want to confuse the issue cupcake but not everybody with PCOS has insulin resistance (which is what the blood fasting test is for), I don;t for example. Its quite an individual disorder and one that is best left to the specialists as sadly GPs have a very limited understanding of it. Your day 3 test and your scan indicate it, so don;t be fobbed off!

Excellent smacketing popcorn

imps everyone gets a shag at xmas? Can you not engineer a little, ahem, visit.

I am thinking of trying pre-seed this month rat smackers, what do you think?

farfallarocks · 19/12/2011 15:14

yay for imps husband being fully on board!

SantaAndHisChristmasImps · 19/12/2011 15:19

Yes, do try Preseed Far - just don't use as much as they suggest otherwise it all gets a bit too slippery and squelchy Xmas Grin. I used it a while back but may well crack it out for this cycle too, esp if I want the swimmers to last from Christmas Eve to egg popping day.

If only everything did get a shag on Christmas Day! OH and I always go to our respective parents' on Christmas Eve, only to be reunited on Boxing Day - we are spending Boxing Day night at his parents' and stealth shagging is 100% impossible to achieve in those circumstances - OH gets freaked out about doing it in the same building as his parents and it causes "issues" (trust me, we've been there and tried that hundreds of times!). I'm not too worried - 24th and 27th Dec still gives us a fighting chance!

OP posts:
SantaAndHisChristmasImps · 19/12/2011 15:21

Arrrrgggg - if only everyone did get a shag on Christmas Day - not everything!!! That would be downright inappropriate and quite possibly illegal too Xmas Grin

OP posts:
PopcornMouseInAReindeerJumper · 19/12/2011 16:33

Yay Imps that's great news, not that he will ever need to of course!! That's one of the reasons I wasn't too worried about the GP wanting us to wait another 6 months for tests - DH is definitely not ready to be dtd with a plastic cup :o

Feeling fecked off today. I think just because it's Christmas and I'd naively expected to have a baby by now when we started ttc. And yet I know I should just be patient, and grateful for a wonderful DH and a happy life. Things could be a lot worse. Sigh.

PopcornMouseInAReindeerJumper · 19/12/2011 16:34

PS, DH has never contributed to a convo about names, except to rubbish my suggestions Xmas Hmm :o

GreenOlives · 19/12/2011 22:33

Evening ladies,
Hope you are all well. I have had a spectacularly shite couple of days at work, it's been horrendously busy and I had a complete emotional meltdown today when I was looking after a lady who was miscarrying Sad She was second trimester and baby still had HB but cervix was open so it was inevitable. Not sure exactly why it suddenly made me cry like a baby but I just had to hand over to colleague and leg it to the staff room for a good old bawl!! I suppose it is this time last year that I was miscarrying and I haven't really cried much about the ectopic so I was probably due a little breakdown, took me by surprise though! We also had a paediatric death at the weekend and that always leaves all the staff feeling low. However it is a stark reminder of how lucky I am to have a wonderful DS and DH and I am VERY grateful for that - I came home to a beautiful homemade Christmas card from DS which has put a huge smile on my face Xmas Smile
Sorry for the depressing paragraph above, I actually feel much happier now I'm home. Off to bed for a good nights sleep, night night brookers, I'll pop in tomorrow and catch up properly with all your news.
xx

BeedleTheBahHumbug · 20/12/2011 05:29

green olives sorry about you tough days at work, hope you're feeling better this morning

Had a very busy day yesterday with a 6 hour round trip on the train, even worse I think its going to happen fairly regularly next year.

My body is playing tricks on me, 13dpo today and my boobs are increasing in soreness -unusual for me, so I did a test BFN Xmas Sad but its not over till the fat ugly hag sings so I still have my fingers crossed for a lovely Christmas present (and a BFP Xmas Grin )

imps your DP sounds lovely, hopefully you'll have your BFP long before he needs to get friendly with a plastic cup Xmas Grin

Lots to do tonight after work, my parents arrive tomorrow. I tried to get cleaning and tidying done at the weekend but I don't think you'd notice.

SantaAndHisChristmasImps · 20/12/2011 07:18

Ohh Green you poor poor thing - what a horrible testing thing to have to deal with at work. I know that I moan about my job all the time sometimes but my worst day at work could never come close to the traumas that you medical folk have to go through. Don't feel at all bad about getting upset about the poor miscarriage lady - it's only natural.

That fat lady ain't going to be singing for you this cycle Beedle you mark my words. You just chose the wrong pee stick this morning.

Morning everyone else hope you're all okay!
