Another thread for those who are waiting to try for a baby. It doesn't matter how long or short the wait; why you are waiting; or how many DC you have. All are welcome.

Old thread here.

My GP surgery to a well woman drop-in clinic on Tuesday afternoons. Maybe I'll just ring and ask if it's appropriate to just drop-in there. That said there is medication I'm on that I should probably check if it's okay to keep taking, although I am hoping to come off it anyway (it's only an anti-histimine alternative for some hives). Maybe I'll just wait until I'm ready to TTC and make an appointment then, when I know if I'm still on these meds or not.

Hello everyone Smile Can I join you in the waiting room?

Where to start...? I found this thread about a week ago and it's taken me this long to read the whole thing!

I was never that bothered about having kids - thought it was something I'd get round to eventually - until about two years ago when I literally feel like some kind of biological switch went off in my brain. And the madness began - totally understand where a lot of you ladies are coming from re the babycrack!!!

I'm v lucky - my DH is on board with TTC. Although I'm sure he must be getting sick of me going on about it. And I've been ticking off my list of things to accomplish before we start. e.g. new job, buy house etc...

Now I've got in my head that about 6 months from now would be the 'perfect' time... But I'm worried I'm going to crack! (DH seems happy to start whenever). The woman I sit next to at work is 24 weeks pg so that's not helping matters!

Not sure what I'm hoping to achieve by posting on here. I guess it just makes me feel better to 'share' with people in the same situation. Hope you don't mind!

Hi LatieK and welcome!
My OH wants to wait until about Jan to start trying as he wants a Sept baby - or at least wants to avoid a July/Aug baby for school reasons. I'm coming off the pill this week though, to get my body ready and cycle settled down. Hoping to start TTC in a 'see what happens' kind of way in about 3 months though, although I don't know how DH will feel if I get pregnant quickly! I think I'm assuming at 35 (36 in Sept) it won't happen that fast anyway.
It's amazing how much it just swamps your thoughts once you make the decision to do it though, isn't it?

LatieK · 18/06/2012 20:56

Hi Lorelei Smile

We're supposed to be waiting till Jan too - partly for the same reason. You're right - my thoughts have definitely been swamped!

I think a big contributor to my current waiting wobble is that I've been charting since I came off the pill a couple of months ago - so I have a pretty good idea when I'm gonna ov (around this Fri - eep!) Part of me is just thinking sod it, let's just go for it! I'm having a huge internal struggle with my baby-crazed side vs. my sensible side! Confused

Lorelei353 · 22/06/2012 10:52

So, that's it. Last pill taken last night. First prepregnancy vitamins taken this morning. Not TTC until I've had at least one or two periods but I feel like it's the first step!

batfish · 23/06/2012 14:27

Hi all, thought I would post on here seeing as we have decided that we want to try to get pregnant - still quite a while away yet but I have started reading a few things on here so I know what to expect!

So I'm not actually feeling particularly 'ready' but I don't think I ever will, probably because I am quite lazy and don't relish the idea of being constantly on the go and having no sleep! But I am sure that when the time comes it will all be with it and as my husband and I are 30 and 31 we decided that we should be thinking about it sooner rather than later, especially as we hope to be able to have 2 children eventually.

We live in Dubai so need to pay for medical care (unlike the UK where we are from, how I miss the NHS!) So we have just taken out a health insurance policy which covers maternity, it starts tomorrow and after 10 months we are able to make use of it so we are going to start trying in around 8 months and then all expenses will be covered if we were lucky enough to get pregnant quickly.

Not sure how I feel, sometimes kind of excited and sometimes kind of like I have 8 months left before it is the end of the world as I know it so that is a bit daunting! But everyone I know who has kids seems to love it so I know I will too.

I have been on the pill since 16 so I plan to stop taking it in about 5 months and take other precautions for the next 3 months so that my body is getting back to normal by the time we are wanting to get pregnant.

Wow I seem to have written a lot, apologies! I am going to read back on some of the older posts now and see how everyone else is doing.

pinkbuttons · 10/07/2012 12:01

Hi everyone, how are we all getting on?
Lorelei Congrats on taking your last pill how exciting!
Still on the patch here but only 2 months till we start trying!! although feel like it may take longer as DH so insistent on me staying on contraception till the last minute.
However on here to announce a breakthrough that we had yesterday in that DH admitted to actually being quite excited about expanding our little family!! Knowing that he is feeling at least a little bit the same as I am is a massive relief and makes it feel just a little bit more of a realistic prosect, very exciting. Hows everyone else doing? Anyone else nearly there?

Sheep2345 · 11/07/2012 15:05

Oooh, a TTC thread, exciting!

I get my coil taken out on 17th July (less than a week away, eeek) its non-hormonal so we can try right away. I've been on Folic Acid for three months in prep so fingers crossed we are ready. Hubby was feeling left out so he's even on some 'men' vitamins from Boots!

We were going to just 'wait and see' how we got on but after having a sneaky peek at other forums, I've caved in and bought ovulation tests so I know when is best to DTD.

I hope everyone elses TTC coundown goes well, can't believe its just around the corner for us!

SparklyUniMummy · 01/08/2012 07:25

Well just come on for an update! Only a month now till we start ttc, I'm so excited. Someone brought their newborn baby into work the other day, and omg my broodyness went into overdrive. Hope everything is going ok for everyone else. Eeeeek soooo excited

Purplemonster · 01/08/2012 16:50

I'm waiting too. Only two more months to wait, assuming DP doesn't freak out and change his mind and add another 6 months on to the deadline like last time the bastard

Lorelei353 · 02/08/2012 15:27

Update from me, we stopped waiting and started TTC.
I stopped taking Cerazette at the end of May . I had my GP appointment on 12th July and my GP told me to start trying immediately. She said your body can go into overdrive when you come off the pill, which is why it's dangerous to miss one, and why you can get pregnant if you do. Anyway, we started the next night Grin.
I've had AF since then (I think we'd missed the overdrive window) but have been TTC this month. I believe I've been ovulating in the last 2 days so we'll see what happens in a few weeks!

SparklyUniMummy · 17/08/2012 10:03

Eeek, I know TMI, but I've just started my period... after this we can start TTC...omg, so scared and nervous now! xx

pinkbuttons · 17/08/2012 20:09
