Freak Out Room For Those Newly Diffed Up After MC Part IX

LAF77 · 27/09/2011 08:52

Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

Thank you sooo much everyone for the reassuring messages and similar stories, that helps so much....even though, like you were saying biscuitsandtea, you read that symptoms can go but it means more hearing real people feeling that. My scan is the 21st, so Friday at 2.40...cant come quick enough! There has been some talk of dopplers, does anyone use one? n when did you start hearing heartbeat? I used one in my last pregnancy n we sold it, just bought another one but didnt check that it came with gel....duh so am waiting on that coming. DH bit worried that I not gonna find heartbeat n stress even more.

I might try your sleep tip too googietheegg...my recent method of trying to sleep has been to stay up as late as poss n hopefully conk out with exhaustion....fail and result is...even more sleep deprived...so not to be recommended!

LimeFlower · 15/10/2011 22:23

stitch ,thanks, menthol inhalations and another stinky stuff rubbed into my chest(vapo rub) and eaten (garlic) helped me a bit.Was surprised that DP still wanted to kiss me goodnight Hmm
LAF 's getting hard with the haddock.Ooooh, scary, but in good faith. googie and everybody else:it's NEVER a good idea to google the symptoms, there's hardly a chance of self diagnosing yourself properly with the symptoms that can either match something silly and terminal illness (the one that you usually get that causes you to freak out).If you've got any doubts, ask the health professionals-that's what they are for.
LAF shocked at the "consultant" and their knowledge(or lack of it). You're not the only one with disturbed sleep.

I had my friend round today, she did a bit of decorating today, have a lovely walls the ivory colour.Love it,love it,love it.

Has any of you got any strange food cravings?I ate some lemon sponge cake kindly send by my MIL and then demolished big jar of gherkins. Not a bad day though.

Waves to everybody:)

LimeFlower · 16/10/2011 10:07

Morning:)How's everybody?

Biscuitsandtea · 16/10/2011 10:39

Morning Lime, not too bad thanks.

Am currently distracted from too much mentalling by trying to potty train DS (eeek) although he's not dong to bad, it just kleeps us on ours toes. And we've spent all the time since yesterday morning in the house - boring!!

Hope everyone else is well xx

LimeFlower · 16/10/2011 13:26

Good luck Biscuits :) According to my friends it's very hard and challenging job.I spoke to my friend-her DD is 6 and her DS is 2.She doesn't know what to do- her DS sitting on a potty is peeing...upwards Grin

Biscuitsandtea · 16/10/2011 13:37

Oh gosh Lime - your poor friend! that's an interesting one indeed! We have struggled though to get a potty that DS fits in comfortably otherwise I think we would have a lot of things going all over the place! Well, I mean they are going all over the place anyway, but at least when he's on the potty it goes in the potty!

LimeFlower · 16/10/2011 13:55

Now it got me thinking-how people get their DS's potty trained?Seems to be easier with the girls.

Biscuitsandtea · 16/10/2011 14:25

I think it is supposed to be easier with girls and earlier too - at least their wee only goes in one direction!

litlady · 16/10/2011 15:33

Hello All, thanks for the advice. I'm definitely going to call the EPAU tomorrow and see what they say. I've had one of those days when I'm certain all my symptoms have gone and I feel like I'm going mad with the stress of wondering if it's OK. I will go and see not least cos there is a chance of another ectopic. I've baked myself into a frenzy, done all the washing and ironing and generally been madly busy to stop myself thinking about it. Hope everyone is having a good weekend. xxxx

Biscuitsandtea · 16/10/2011 18:52

Good luck with the EPAU tomorrow litlady - will be keeping everything crossed for you. Do try to let us know how you get on if you get a chance.

Take care xx

googietheegg · 16/10/2011 20:24

Good luck for tomorrow litlady Smile

LAF77 · 17/10/2011 06:32

lime I am on a tough stance lately in many aspects of my life which also leads me to think I'm having a boy cos it must be related to testosterone in me somehow. So I'm not afraid to wield the haddock!

litlady any luck with the EPAU this morning? Thinking of you. I know how difficult it is to distract yourself when all you want is an answer.

Welcome ains I'm on the April ante-natal thread too...but haven't posted for a few days. I too am feeling less symptomy - but I figured that's normal at this stage. I hope your scan on Friday gives you the reassurance you need, I felt much better after mine last week.

LAF good for you for taking on a tough stance. I've been turfing men out of the seats normally reserved for old people and pregnant women - no-ones ever refused me a seat yet!

googie how are you feeling today? A bit more reassured after a haddocking from us lot?

biscuits good luck with potty training. We got really lucky with DS and he virtually toilet-trained himself at 2.4 - I was actually expecting it to be much harder and not happen till he was 3. Sometimes they do surprise you. (he's still in nighttime nappies though - and wakes most nights, so it's not all roses).

14 weeks today! Properly in the second trimester now. Bump itches, boobs still ache in the morning, but appetite is dying down thank god.

Mookymoo · 17/10/2011 13:51

Hello, hope you are all OK. I'm a bit too scared to even use MN too much at the moment in case I get too into the pregnant vibe. But, 1 week since finding out and all OK so far...

Biscuitsandtea · 17/10/2011 14:16

Keep ticking those weeks off Mooky - we're all rooting for you!

Digi thanks Smile I was rather hoping DS might make his own mind up about it, but he has just turned 3 so we thought we'd give him a bit of a try and see how it goes....

googietheegg · 17/10/2011 15:17

Hi mooky ...just take one day at a time, that's all I'm doing (with a little help from the friendly freak-out haddock)

shellshock7 · 17/10/2011 15:53

googie congrats on scan, I would hope the doctor would tell you if there was a problem so try not to worry

Hi ains congrats on the BFP Smile I think I started using the doppler at 11-12 weeks and it worked fine

Hope all was well litlady

Well I had my 20 week scan today and I have to say it was up there with the best 20 mins of my life, was so amazing the detail we could see and all the movement he (yes, did I mention team blue!!!) was making, even opening and closing his mouth...the sonographer even commented when he did the x-factor pose! Everything was perfect, he was so good and moved into position exactly when she wanted him to and there was no problems so me and DH haven't come off cloud nine yet.

We went and made our first baby purchases as promised, bought two sleeping bag/suit thingies from Jojo and a coming home from hospital outfit Grin too cute!

Gonna take the plunge and move myself on to the grads list while the nerves have gone!

litlady · 17/10/2011 15:55

Hello All,

Off to EPAU on Wednesday morning as they thought I should be seen asap. Arrrrgh, the thought of that room fills me with the horrors but got to be done. HAdn't told my lovely partner who has been so incredible - I had made this ludicrous plan to keep it secret until I'd had a scan and knew what was wot. But, I tripped over a mop handle yesterday that my darling daughter left in the kitchen and burst into uncontrollable tears which were a little OTT and caved in....Fingers crossed for all you ladies and I'll let you know one way or another how it goes....

stitchinline · 17/10/2011 17:52

yay shell - so happy for you [hgrin] and go you joining the grads

a week to go til mine and i just want it now

Biscuitsandtea · 17/10/2011 20:09

Well done Shell - fabulous scan news Grin

Do feel free to pop back and visit us though Smile xx

Good luck in Wednesday Lit - will be thinking of you. what time do you have to go in? This is to check it's not ectopic right?

shellshock7 · 17/10/2011 20:54

stitch I won't lie, stress levels were on number ten before it, I cried on and off all day yesterday for no reason, just cos I was dreading today...but it was was worth it for the relief...what a rollercoaster pregnancy is! Can't wait to hear your news too Smile

Will be hanging around biscuits and you will be over with the grads too soon!

KnitterNotTwitter · 18/10/2011 11:17

Hey - went to an EPU for a scan this morning to check everything is going ok and stop me panicking (!). All fine although they've confirmed my previous earlier dateing... so i'll update the stats and take myself back 3 days...
