LaraMi · 06/05/2011 09:20

Good luck today scannees!

owlbooty · 06/05/2011 09:33

OMG! how the bloody hell did I miss the YRMOTBFP ???

In fairness I've been on my hols so this is probably why.

It's fab to see this room filling up.

hadrian · 06/05/2011 09:38

Hello ladies, mind if I join? I'm not sure who will remember me on this thread but I MC'd in December and was on the old thread for a while. I've been lurking as I got a BFP two weeks ago but have been too scared to join! Am now officially freaking out so thought I'd better pull up a bean bag.

I've been doing pretty well so far - trying to keep calm and not spend every second minute of the day in a total state of panic. Until now I've been feeling a lot more pg than last time - sore boobs, tired, nausea - which was making me feel a bit more confident. But over the last couple of days the symptoms seem to be wearing off and now I've got these horrible back cramps which feel just like my period starting.

Aaagh what to do? I know symptoms come and go but that's how I knew something was wrong last time - I just stopped feeling pregnant. I'm so afraid I'm losing this one too and I don't know whether to try and be positive or to prepare myself for the worst.

Someone slap me with a haddock quick!

LaraMi · 06/05/2011 09:52

"Owl" - I hope you mean trousers and not knickers - hides under beanbag in sheer fear as the thought of Owl's bare botty.....!

Welcome Hadrian and a big haddock-slap... You have nothing to worry about - we are all neurotic, permanently panicked, paranoid and symptom-obsessed on this thread. If anyone has it lying around, please send Hadrian our fab ten commandments... Symptoms do come and go and there's lots of "stuff moving about" as "stuff grows" which causes weird aches and pains - MummyA has a fab diagram of what's going on inside our bodies....

I say this so authoritatively but I am s**t scared ahead of my scan in 12 days time - am convinced I have a MMC .

LaraMi · 06/05/2011 09:52

oops - Owl not "Owl"

mamapower · 06/05/2011 09:54

pmsl owl where you and you and Brian been missus... even I didn't miss that one!!!! Grin Grin

pink I've been having really bad stretching cramps... have you?? Apparently common in weeks 18-24!

Welcome hadrian and other newbies I've missed!

Oh got scan date... 19th May!! Yay!!

Gotta Love you and leave you (as always) xx

harassedinherpants · 06/05/2011 10:03

Hadrian welcome!!! Go back to yesterday and have a look at my scan post Grin. I'm 6+2 today and thought all my symptoms were subsiding and been having awful cramps, but babypants was there with a heartbeat and measuring spot on for dates Grin.

Owl oooh where've you been??

hadrian · 06/05/2011 10:37

Ah thank you ladies, am feeling a little bit better already. Just read your scan post hihp, am so pleased for you.

One question - I registered with my GP yesterday and she said the hospital won't do an early scan unless I'm bleeding, even though I've had a MC before. Can this be right? I'm sure the EPU told me last time that I'd get an early scan if I got pg again.

Do you guys count pregnancy from ov or from two weeks before ov? If the latter I'm 6+5 today. I thought that was too early for a scan but it seems to have been fine for you hihp...?

harassedinherpants · 06/05/2011 10:53

Count from the first day of your last af if you have an average length cycle. I only got a scan because I've had two consecutive mc's, they didn't do one last time until I was bleeding, but have been fab this time!

It was fanjo-cam, and I was warned that it may be too early to see hb, but dh says he spotted it straight away. But then he was there for both the awful scans too, and he says the difference was noticeable straight away.

I can only advise you to ask your epu. I rang for some advice, I knew I'd get a scan but the leaflet I had after 2nd mc said they would do a reassurance scan at 8 weeks, but the sister I spoke to had no hesitation in booking me in, and said that she'd put down as referred by gp (you can't self refer at my epu). I know I'm lucky with my epu, they're very different to some of the stories I've heard!!

Not near Epsom are you?? They have a walk-in epu.

cep · 06/05/2011 11:21

morning ladies. keeping fx for the scannees today.

hihp he can be, he went straight into nursery this morning and told his carer he saw a baby in mummys tummy. then while i was chatting to her came up to me and told me i was wet. (meaning the gel)

Is anyone else who've started telling people suddenly feeling scared? i haven't done a big announcement yet as have to tell my db yet, i dunno feels a bit like tempting fate which is really silly right?? i'm technically safe now although obviously i'm aware that something can always go wrong but according to statistics i'm safe so why should telling people scare me?

hadrian · 06/05/2011 11:40

Thanks hihp, you've made me feel much better. Maybe I'll give the EPU a call next week and try and stop flapping until then!

dooscooby · 06/05/2011 12:46

I saw a heartbeat for the first time ever! No fanjocam, did it all through the tummy. She didn't do any measurements at all so no idea if things are on track with my dates but because it's a RMC I think they like to take it very slow. She did say they normally see people fortnightly but then asked me to come back next Friday (13th eek!) and then I panicked afterward that she thinks there is something wrong which is why she wants me back in a week. WTF-why can't I just be happy and appreciative for regular scanning?!

Hi to Hadrian and fingers crossed for battery

katherine2008 · 06/05/2011 13:08

Great stuff scooby and yay for regular scanning. good luck today battery and a big hi to hadrian who I remember from the mc thread - I think we were within a few days of each other in December. AMAZING to see you here - welcome to the mentalling.

Waves to everyone else - daisy it sounds like you can make this all work for you - and like everyone says, you don't have to do anything you don't want to do. Having had the most dreadful panic attacks for years (although thankfully now 'in remission') I really feel for you.

sending love to everyone x

owlbooty · 06/05/2011 13:13

I've been in Belgium but also suffering full-on baby-brain melt as well

Lara it's pants all the way and yes, my arse is terrifying Grin

Hadrian hello and welcome back :) congratulations and PLEASE do not fret. Random symptoms coming and going are completely normal, as is total paranoid and freaking out about every last twinge. Your beanbag has been here and waiting for you :)

LaraMi · 06/05/2011 13:46

I can't express how lovely it is to see our little group growing and more and scans proving that more and more ladies are progressing comfortably down the pregnancy road.

ps - Anyone been thinking the same paranoid thoughts as me that statistically, with all this positive news there have to be a couple of less positive outcomes and statistically, I worry that it'll be me... (not wishing bad on anyone else either by the way, just sharing my petrified thoughts)

PinkFondantFancy · 06/05/2011 13:59

Fabulous news dooscooby!

Huge welcome to Hadrian I remember you from the TTC thread!

Lara on the TTC we had something similar in that we had a massive run of BFPs and everyone assumed they'd run out. If youre feeling geeky check out thr Poisson distribution on wikipedia-Mr Poisson says it's all completely independent so don't worry, the luck can't run out Grin

CollieandPup · 06/05/2011 14:01

Afternoon ladies.

yay cep for great scan!! How annoying re dates, I have a funny feeling mine will vary again at my next scan! Your ds is very cute!!! How is he doing these days?

glad you've found the courage to post. Symptoms coming and going is normal. My ms comes and goes. Thought I was rid of it, and was fine for 4-5 days but it's now back with avengance. It's nice and reassuring but I'm def sick of being sick. I also had a scan at 6 wks, refered to epu via my gp. I dated as 6+1 at the time but saw a heartbeat and all though ultra-sound, I was spared the ordeal of the fanjo-cam!

daisy I don't know much about anti-dep but I'm certain they won't make you take anything you don't want to. Go to your apt being clear what you do want and stand by it.

scooby yippee on fab scan news. I'm sure the call back next week is nothing to worry about otherwise they'd have told you.

izzy I can't believe your mw doesn't use the doppler, I think your story has definately convinced me that a doppler is a good investment. Did you get a digi one?

lara your last post has made me smile. Yes, I had the same horrid thoughts a few weeks back and said the same thing to dh. But as he said to me, it doesn't work like that, it's not 1 in 4 of every group of women, and hopefully bcs we are all doing the best things we can for our beans our odds are better!

Finally rang the hospital today to change my scan date, what a palavour! Took me much arguing about my edd for them to change it- turns out I couldnt make the date they gave me anyway due to work. Rebooked in for full nuchal, but thinking now will need to cancel again as dh thinks we should take private sonograhpers advice and not bother With it and just go for the dating. Bloody hassle! They were v apologetic about the old pg still being on though and promised to have it sorted asap. We'll see If they do next time I'm there.

Any news from battery ?

CollieandPup · 06/05/2011 14:09

Ps, quite a while back we were talking about camping while being pg (can't remember who brought it up) and the issue of constant night peeing was pointed out. We've decided to save the money we were going to spend on an abroad holiday toward buying a vw van to do up so we're considering camping this summer. So, I was thinking about a shewee what do people think? I was thinking I could use it too pee into a container of some kind (some nights if I can't sleep I pee 10 times!!!) Or is it just a totally gross idea??? Have a look at the shewee here

harassedinherpants · 06/05/2011 14:19

Scooby fab scan news !!! Grin Feels good doesn't it?!

Collie there's a thread on Chat about camping at the moment, and there's talk of portable loo's. Not sure I could go with a shewee......

I'm also tentatively thinking about camping. We normally go abroad ai for 10-14 days but aren't going to this year as we're moving in 3 weeks, dh is massively busy (self employed) and we need to save some pennies! But we're still going to take a week off and do days out or ideally a short break. We all fancy the Isle of Wight. Close and we both love it. I spent much of my childhood there and would love to take dd. So am thinking of borrowing bil & sils camping equipment.... just thinking!!!!!

LaraMi · 06/05/2011 14:33

Collie - desperate to google the shewee but in an open plan office, I'm not sure it's the wisest idea.... I do have to say I am quite fascinated (but also equally grossed out) by the concept of it... perhaps a portable loo is a better option as harassed suggests.

LaraMi · 06/05/2011 14:35

I can however, safely google the poisson distribution in the office and thank you, Pink for the recommendation. I shall think of Mr Poisson every time I get panicky

LaraMi · 06/05/2011 14:40

I'll do the honours today - hope I don't balls it up... I think there was another new addition to the list, but I can't find you, so if you see that you're missing please cut and paste the list and add yourself!

hello everyone :)

I saw a heartbeat too :) Was spared fanjo cam and saw the lillte white flicker straight away. Measured exactly for 6 weeks today, and the lovely nurse even gave me 2 piccies :)

Have started on my blood thinning injections (ow!!) and they want to see me again in 3 weeks for another scan. This EPAU are fab.

Brilliant news for scoooby too :)

LaraMi · 06/05/2011 15:55
