knitter what an awfully long wait your having - hope your bearing up as it must be so frustrating for you. Thinking about you such a lot and hoping for the best possible outcome for you.

Collie yes I agree those lovely big white knicks are great for the knicker spotting!

Pink I too am a bit of an egg addict at the moment and cheese - so I was very pleasantly surprised to read Izzy's comments about the cholesterol - eggs away! Thanks for that Izzy.

Lara I really wouldn't worry too much at all about the Beconase nose spray. I'm on steroids and cyclogest and on both of them it says seek Doctor's advice if pregnant or planning pregnancy?!! I think they put this on most things to cover themselves.

Two more days to my scan! Fingers crossed for me please - I can feel those blasted nerves starting to churn up big time again!

owlbooty · 11/04/2011 20:25

I also went through an egg phase - funny how so many of us have fancied the same things :)

Next stop; ladies - bucketloads of Ribena!

MummyAbroad · 11/04/2011 20:59

love eggs too, and cheese... desperately need to get to the supermarket now for a craving shop...

Poo talk coming up - look away now if you are squeamish
---------------
wombatinwaiting sorry, I have forgotten which country you are in, whats the local diet like? I eat a lot of black beans which are natural stool softeners. In order to avoid constipation experiment and try and find foods that make your poo soft, rather than make you go, like prunes, which are great for when you really get stuck, but your goal should be to avoid getting to that state in the first place. Going to the loo wont be a problem if your stools are not all hard and bloated (ryvetta does this to them) Try and improve your intestinal flora as much as poss- not just with supplements like yoghurts, but also by eating foods that the flora thrive on(leeks, bananas, artichokes, dandelion leaf, garlic, asparagus). Its better to get your natural flora to reproduce rather than keep adding in new flora. Flora helps food get broken down properly and reduces hard bloaty poo. Increased flora also helps your gut increase its intake of all that water you are drinking. If you have a big constipation attack and find it hard to go, use a footstall while you are on the loo to raise your knees. The "squatting" position means you dont have to strain so much and when you go you empty your bowel more fully (I told you to look away if you were squeamish!)

end of poo talk
------------------

knitter sorry you are being made to wait so long! grrrr

I had an egg craving an egg craving too a few weeks ago, now I can't even look at them. I also had a cheese craving. Latest craving is rice and sweet corn.
I'm normally a chocoholic, but haven't really fancied it. Weird!

knitter sorry you have to wait another day.

blackkat hope your dad's operation is a success.

Blackkat · 11/04/2011 22:04

thanks, collie, cep, ninu for good wishes about dad, saw him this eve and he looks old all of a sudden Sad more stressed about him and mum than me.

Hope you get the call tomorrow Knitter FX

tunnocks hope you've stopped the frequent loo visits Smile

Lara, I'm only at 6 weeks, so behind you. I'm not letting myself mentalthink about % chances just trying my best to stay positive. Keeping FX for you too.

There's so much happening here, I keep forgetting I'm updiffed Shock Blush. And then I have to eat eggs, 2 fried, 2 poached and 1 boiled since Friday...thank god for Izzy's info. And I walk around the house and can't remember why I went into a room. And I think I could use my boobs to cut glass with. Nipples visible through bra, top and jumper. Terrifying. So then it's hard to forget again. Grin

to everyone else, thinking of Banana tomorrow x

cep · 12/04/2011 07:26

knitter fx you get the results today.

banana87 · 12/04/2011 08:37

Feel so sick, flipping out. Haven't even told DH about the scan... 2 more hours...

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 12/04/2011 08:53

Good luck to banana and mummya for scans today and fx for some good news for knitter at last xx

My mum just rang me panicking about our camping holiday to France in August - tbh I've been assuming it would be fine but she's flapping about it. owl and nix - I'll be a bit further on than you are now (about 6 mths) if all goes to plan - would you fancy 2.5 weeks in a tent at that point? Happy to hear from anyone else who can remember what it's like at 6 mths too - so long since I was there with dd that it's all a bit of a blur!!

Youremindmeofthebabe · 12/04/2011 09:08

Izz I went to a festival at 6 months pg and then camping for a week afterwards. It was fine, we took an airbed, duvet and loads of pillows. I was ready for my bed by the end though. And I also got the most horrific d and v, couldn't keep water down for 5 days.

Velvetcu · 12/04/2011 09:26

thanks YRMOTB I will be showing your post to DH. I want to go to Reading this year but have been forbidden as it is no place for pg women! Ah how I miss the good old festival toilets!

Having never had a baby before, I'm in no position to argue since I dont know how fat/uncomfortable etc everything is and when.

Good luck banana and mummya for your scans.

knitter thinking of you and hoping you get some good news.

katherine2008 · 12/04/2011 09:36

Good luck today banana and mummya

everything still crossed for knitter and hoping that you get the news you want to today

izzy i did a trip to Portugal at 6.5 months pregnant with dd. Not uncomfortable at all apart from the fact I couldn't lie down on my back on the beach - so dh had to dig hole in the sand for me to park my bum in!

owlbooty · 12/04/2011 09:38

Izzy in all honesty no I wouldn't as I'm finding it bloody hard to get comfortable at night anyway at the moment and getting up to find the loos in the middle of the night on a campsite does not appeal! Unless you can take a really really good deckchair and put your feet up for a nap during the day maybe? Or have a back up B&B nearby planned just in case :)

CLearly YRMOTB is completely hardcore I do like my comforts though - I have a proper inflatable double mattress and camping stove, chairs, decent tent etc.

Good luck today scanners!

Blackkat hope your and your family are okay - and that you're taking some time to relax if you can and look after yourself & the bean :)

Pink I did find out the gender at 12 weeks but the doc did say she couldn't be 100% sure - as it turns out the sonographer at 20 weeks agreed with what she thought :)

LaraMi · 12/04/2011 09:49

Morning Ladies...

FX for you Knitter.... Am still convinced everything will be fine - there's no way they'd leave you this long otherwise.

Blackkat - glad you're at the same stage as me - I feel so early on compared to everyone else.

I didn't have any eggs last night but really, really fancy one today. Also got a craving for cheese and I don't normally even like eggs or cheese!

I am super constipated and bloated too. I feel like I've gained weight already. Need to get some prune juice today... I am so super tired - last night I was in bed at 8.30! OBEM had me in floods of tears as usual....

As for travel, I have a work trip to Dubai four days after my 12 week scan. Provided I'm still pg then, I am going to make up excuses as to why I can't go. As per my trip last week, the hours are insanely long (13-14 hours per day for 3 days) and even though I won't be in the heat, I'll say my MW says it's not a good idea. I just can't be bothered with the stress....!

Wombat33 · 12/04/2011 10:04

Oh eek, no rest for the wicked. I've got some bleeding this morning. Only a tiny tiny amount but the midwife has told me to get myself to A&E so now trying towork out what hospital is closest to my office in the city and has an A&E and an Obs & Gyne service [wibble]

LaraMi · 12/04/2011 10:06

Hope all is okay Wombat - as the other MNers say, bleeding can be absolutely fine and normal. Keep us posted and thinking of you. Can you try to go to an EPU instead? They tend to be better in my humble experience and can scan you right away...

owlbooty · 12/04/2011 10:08

Womble are you heading in the direction of 19 weeks or so? If so, quite a few people seem to have a little bleed round about then, no idea why but it seems to be quite common.

Hope all is well xx

LaraMi · 12/04/2011 10:08

City as in City of London? Guys and St Thomas' has a 24 hour walk in EPU..

Clinic Times: 24 hours (Mon-Sun)

KnitterNotTwitter · 12/04/2011 10:09

RE Festivals - I did Glastonbury when I was 7 months pregnant with DS... was fin apart from the fact that I had SPD and slipping around in the mud didn't help it.

I even did the Great British Beer Festival when I was 9months pregnant... Only allowed myself 1/3 of a pint each day but it was fun/busy. You get very aware of your bump and how close other people are to you so you'll naturally avoid crushes and other silliness.

LaraMi · 12/04/2011 10:09

Oops - didn't realise how far along you are.. in that case, ignore everything I just said... Oops

Wombat33 · 12/04/2011 10:16

Thanks all. Lara you're spot on with your recommendation - I called a doctor friend who said exactly the same. I've also spoken to the hospital and apparently as I'm over 18 weeks I go to the Ante Natal Day Assessment Unti not the EPU but it's the same building. Off there now....

LaraMi · 12/04/2011 10:25

Good luck Wombat - keep us posted. Thinking of you. (I have Guys on down as my emergency hospital if anything happens when I'm at work as my office is in Victoria!)

Emoo · 12/04/2011 10:47

Hello ladies! Sorry I've been away a while... too much work... rest of family hogging computer, etc...

I've had 2 appointments since I last spoke to you - one at the Prematurity Prevention clinic, which was a bit of an anti-climax as they just took swabs and told me there was nothing they could really do to prevent a recurrence anyway! (Why don't they call it Prematurity Preparedness clinic?). The other appt was with my midwife where I finally got the results of my booking bloods and NT scan/bloods (all reassuring, thankfully), and listened to Emoobean's heartbeat with the Doppler. It's finally starting to feel real now, and I've tentatively started telling people. Cat will be out of the bag soon anyway as I'm starting to look significantly fatter, although it's arguable whether I look preg or not, tbh.

Banana and MummyA - hope things go well today for you both.

Knitter - keeping my fingers crossed for some good news for you today, and hoping that the longer they make you wait, the better the news is likely to be.

Tunnocks - poor you... just one thing after another! Make sure you keep up with your fluids, and I hope you feel better soon.

Wombat - try not to worry too much... my friend had something similar, and was told in the end it was just that the blood vessels on the cervix become very fragile in pregnancy. Agree it needs checking out though.

Lara and Nina - yep, eggs, cheese nom nom nom. Well, anything in fact...

Izzy - camping in France sounds lovely, esp if it's one of those pre-pitched tents that has all mod cons. I was in pretty good shape at 5-6 months, iirc, e.g. went up a hill in the Lakes (albeit very slowly and with lots of weestops behind rocks). My main concern would be how hot it might be under canvas in France in August? Would check out if the site has lots of trees for shady areas to sit in, or a pool, etc.

Blackkat - hope things go well for your dad. Grin at visible nipples (or peanut-smuggling, as my friend calls it...) - I needed to switch to a padded bra even though I didn't need it for volume!

Collie2 · 12/04/2011 10:48

Good luck to banana and mummya for scans today to to cep too

knitter I hope you get done answers today.

wombat fx all is fine for you too.

blackkat I'm sorry that your dad is looking so frail. But hopefully it's just while he recovers, he's going through a lot. ((hugs)) for you and your family

All this egg and cheese talk is making me left out Sad I normally love both but the thought of eggs now makes my stomach turn and I threw up after my cheese butty yesterday Sad although to be fair I threw up after everything yesterday. Breakfast, lunch and dinner! Sad just had to dash to loos at work to barf! Seriously, for anyone who has worked on an office with ms, how did you get through it and how did you manage to keep your pg quiet? I'm trying to work from home as much as poss bit meetings this week require me to ge in! It's hell !!!

loving the camping whilst pg debate! I'm hoping to get away in the summer so will be (touch wood) roughly 6mths too, although I expect I'll only be going for a long weekend! Anyone been in a vw camper with a baby/small child? We're thinking of buying a knackered one and doing it up.....
