"I turned 25 six months ago but we're not allowed to take time off work for doctor's appointments "

Shock

That's terrible. Please don't put it off Tanif, it is important and you only have to have it done every 3 years.

peapop · 09/03/2011 13:00

Thanks sevendwarves I came off the pill at the beginning of January and I'm pretty sure I have a "straightforward" cycle but am keen to know for certain. I'm a worrier at heart!

Tanif I had no idea you could be refused time off for doctors appointments thats awful! Can you see if your GP can offer you a late night appointment, I know a lot of them seem to be doing that now?

Tanif · 09/03/2011 13:04

I'm not sure *peapop8, I'll be giving them a ring to check if they offer late night appointments. It doesn't help that I live 40 miles away from where I work! If not I might see if I can pop into the CASH clinic near my mum's house and get it done there.

MickyLee · 09/03/2011 14:58

peapop Bet you can't wait to poot.
How many tests did you get?

Can my cycle length be determined this month with my fisrt real period or do I have to wit another month and go by that?

Daiso · 09/03/2011 15:02

Thanks all for your reasurring words. I'm just going to try not to think of it. I've had really bad back ache today and instead of thinking it may be a pg sign, i first thought - ooh kidney/water infection!
Good luck POOT'ers!!

BlueCrane · 09/03/2011 15:05

Oh the joys of smear tests...I must say that I really hate having them and being nearly 31 I've had a few unfortunately, but as spidookly said, they're important and everyone tells me that once you've had a baby your Shock about the discomfort reduces!

Am wondering whether I should be 'pooting' this month as my cycles seem to have gone a bit haywire the last couple of months but don't I want to be getting obsessive about it all! Is it a real hassle since you have to do it mid/late afternoon therefore would have to do it at work Hmm?? I'm CD6 at the moment but since my cycles seem to vary from 30-37 days it could be a while yet before I ovulate! Any advice appreciated!!

PS tanif am sure we can manage some chocolate brownies on the tea and cake trolley!!

Daiso · 09/03/2011 15:14

BlueCrane - I POOT'd twice first thing and picked up nothing and then 3rd time about 8pm and smiley face. Also got a smiley face last month in evening. I was a bit worried as you need to hold your urine for 4hrs but i have a very busy time at work between 4-6.30pm so never have time to pee! So just held for another hour or so once i got home and then POOT'd.
Worth a try when you get in at night. I used the CB digital sticks but expensive if you need to POOT for many days.

Daiso · 09/03/2011 15:16

PS - I'm 28 but have had umpteen smear tests due to investigative surgery and tests and all sorts down there over the past 4 years so i used to get really nervous but now its more a case of being at the hairdressers - chat to nurse about all sorts!! Grin
Had my latest 4 weeks ago and results came back clear thank goodness.
Please make time to go ladies. x

BlueCrane · 09/03/2011 15:29

Thanks daiso ...mmm...not sure about holding urine for 4 hours before going to pee...I seem to have the smallest bladder and go to the toilet so many times a day...dread to think what it'll be like if I do get PG!! Will keep looking into the OV sticks though...

spidookly · 09/03/2011 15:34

"I seem to have the smallest bladder and go to the toilet so many times a day...dread to think what it'll be like if I do get PG!!"

Disaster! You'll have to get yourself a bedpan :o

maybebabyR · 09/03/2011 15:52

Haha blue spidookly's right, either a bed pan, or a pair of those rather attractive incontinence pants that are advertised in those magazines in the sunday papers Grin

As far as the smear goes, I'm just worried something will be wrong! I'm not normally a worrier, but since TTC, I do!!

spidookly · 09/03/2011 15:59

Stop worrying, nothing will be wrong.

It's just good to know that nothing is wrong.

I know how you feel though - every time I have any kind of test I get convinced I'm going to have whatever I'm being tested for.

I spend a few weeks when I was 12 really upset about how I had scoliosis and would need to wear a brace all because I knew the test was coming up and I read Deenie the Judy Blume book :o

maybebabyR · 09/03/2011 16:20

Haha!! Poor you! And I bet you even started to stand funny!!

It's amazing what the mind can do Smile

Thanks spidookly will try and be more rational!

sevendwarves · 09/03/2011 20:28

I'm very confused tonight. It was strange enough that AF started in the middle of the afternoon when it always starts first thing in the morning, but now it's finished after only 2.5 days. Definately heavy enough for AF though (sorry tmi) Confused

Thinking11 · 09/03/2011 20:54

How strange! Im using a clearblue fertility monitor and this is my second month using it. Im not expected to get a high until Monday as I shouldnt get my peak (ovulate) until Tuesday/Wednesday next week. However this morning Ive had an unexpected high reading, which would be easy if I had a DP to SWI with.

I am however TTC with a donor so I have had to arrange an unexpected meet and book a hotel for the exchange, then they close the bloody motorway!!!!!aghh

But all is sorted now and on for later.

Has anyone else had enexpected highs with the cb monitor? Will I get another high tomorrow? when should I expect my peak?????

Sassymk · 09/03/2011 21:04

Good luck Thinking! (you are going to be doing the insemination this week rather than next, if I understood correctly?)

seven that does sound weird. Might it come back? Sometimes I get a "break" in my period. Sorry, no useful suggestions for weird cycle.

Thinking11 · 09/03/2011 21:33

Im inseminating tonight but dont know yet when else I'll just have to go by the monitor each day and hope my donor is flexible

sevendwarves · 09/03/2011 22:15

thinking looks like I'm not the only one with a strange cycle, good luck!

peapop · 09/03/2011 22:36

Lol spidookley that would've been great! Should've seen his poor face when I said BFN, poor thing!

Good luck thinking !!

Hope all is ok seven
