A continuation of so many threads spent waiting to ttc that I've completely forgotten what number thread we're on.

If you're waiting to ttc, stop by and say hello! Smile

Watching One Born Every Minute on 4OD, Lucy and her hubby who keeps going out to get things is so sweet, hope my DP is that good. I think tho he will steal focus and faint, he goes white as a sheet just mentioning child birth! Want him to tell me if we have a boy or a girl.

Hi candyshop welcome :)

I talked to my DP about trying after getting married, he wants to wait for a year but I am hoping that I can get that to honey moon baby before the as yet undecided date for the big day. I do however love the idea of being pregnant, just a few months when we do get married. Would be a lovely secret, having three of us at the alter :o.

Also, poor Amelia on OBEM with that absent partner. Poor form I say.

There were 3 of us at the alter when we got married...only me, Dh & my chief bridesmaid knew! :o

Haven't watched this weeks OBEM yet, have it Sky+'d for later!

Welcome Candyshop!

Afternoon Newbies Grin

I watched OBEM last nite and BroodyRhi agree about Amelias absent partner, but then my DD bio father wasn't there when I gave birth to DD not that hes ever seen her anyway but thats a different story!

Thanks for the welcome! Smile

I watched OBEM too (bit obsessed with all baby/childbirth programmes at the mo), I would be absolutely raging if my DP did what Amelia's partner did! As for the other couple, it was sweet how he was running about after her but all the lovey dovey stuff was bit too sickly for my liking and as for the singing.. oh god the singing!!

BroodyRhi my DP sounds similar to yours, he's not exactly the best with hospitals, blood and needles! Hoping to have my mum there too when the time comes - she can look after DP and I'll look after myself! Grin

Theres no way my DP would run in and out for things he'd tell me where to go lol. As for her singing, if I was labouring in the room next to her, I'd go next door and tell her to bloody shut up lol!

So glad when I had DD I was the only one in the birthing centre so was all peaceful and had my mum and sis with me and wouldn't have it any other way. I don't want DP with me when I'm in labour with No2 as he'll fuss and I'd end up punching him Grin

Glad it wasn't just me that found the lovey-dovey singing couple a bit vomit inducing! Blush When she said about if she didn't make it (through the c section) that she wanted him to know that she really loved him I was like Hmm 'Oh P-L-EEEaaase! Get a grip' I know she was probably joking, but still!! [grumpy old woman emoticon]

We took everything I'd packed in with us to the hospital all at once. DH said he'd rather carry it all in one go than be going back and forth fetching things!! I had my mum with me when DD was born as I had to have a forceps delivery in theatre, poor DH had to wait in recovery as they couldn't find any scrubs trousers big enough for him! :( Was still lovely, but wish he had been there coz he was fab all through my labour. Really hoping if I ever get around to having another one that he will be there!

Welcome to the newbies! :)

Got told I had a healthy uterus yesterday so gives me a good feeling about TTC :)

I take it a soctor told you that? Otherwise that's a very odd compliment to give someone!! Wink

I ended up being in for 5 days but at least I was prepared, although did end up putting DD & myself in some rather odd clothes to go home in as DH had to bring in more!!

Great news darcie Smile

Hi all,

I'm in a similar position, have been broody since late 2009, started bringing it up but my boyfriend always reacted really badly to it. He said he just wasn't ready (even though he definitely wants kids one day). I'm now 29.

Eventually it came to a head and I could barely believe it when he agreed we could start ttc in a year. That was in November. November 26 (not that I'm counting). So have a while to wait but am relieved I have a timeline now.

I just have my fingers crossed he doesn't change his mind...

Hi all,

Can i please join in normally lurk on the ttc buses wishing i was joining them.

I already have 3dc. Have been waiting since late 2009 to start ttc and with one reason and another it has got put back. We now have are house on the market and so this is the main reason at the moment we really need to move first. Although we have agreed to ttc at the end of the year even if we have not moved.

Hello ladies

I'm brand new to this, can I join?

Have been browsing mumsnet for about 6 months on and off, ever since I started getting majorly broody.

I'm 25, always been mega focused on getting job, house, car and marriage and babies were last on my priority list. I have the job house and car, been with DP for 7 years, now am desperate to join my 5 friends who have babies!

Are we being too sensible? Waiting to pay off credit cards, decorate house, get married. Or should we wait because that's sensible?

I also am on pill BrooyRhi - and get majorly disappointed in myself when I have my period, even though I know it's inevitable!

Everyone I know (including overly-protective parents) admit there is never "a right time to have a baby"... so why are we so hesitant?

Wow, lots of posts whilst I've been gone (internet got cut off, anyone else feel that access to internet has become a vital necessity for functioning throughout the day?). Will get up to speed with everyone soon.

Wanted to share that I almost went from waiting to TTC yesterday. My dad had a heart attack on Sunday, I found out Monday. I guess I was "frantic" in response and worrying about whether he will be well enough for the wedding, whether it would be better to postpone, whether he will get to meet his grandkids and whether it would be better to just start TTC instead. A day back at work reminded me of how much I hate where I work and really need to get out of there. We also came to the conclusion that, due to how much stress I am under, physiologically I'm probably not able to conceive at the moment anyway and would probably MC Sad So back to waiting.

PS. Sorry for the downer, will get myself picked back up soon and concentrate on the positive things - like what my OH will be like when we are actually a that pointing of birthing.

jobcarhousenobaby im in a similar situation, was aiming for house, wedding, new car, new kitchen. Have now done house wedding and decided life is too short to worry about kitchens. am just paying off credit card (from hneymoon!) then ttc as will be a squeeze enough on maternity pay without worrying about payments on a cc. i do agree that if u wait til u can afford it you'd never do it, even if you earn reasonably good money it never seems enough anyway! so we're going for it this summer. i do think getting married before is a good idea hough, because its a time t really spoil yourself and i dont think its as easy to do this when you have little ones, as im sure you would think its a waste when you could be spending it on baby things etc. ps being married is awesome :D

Completely agree with babymaking My DP and I also now have the jobs we want, cars and a house, but agreed it would be better to wait until after the wedding before ttc. Doing this has meant we get to focus on having the wedding and honeymoon we want (we're only going to do it once after all!) and that we don't feel guilty about spending our money on that instead of things for a baby.

On the other hand though its probably just as well we're waiting because we're both working all the overtime we can get at the moment in order to pay for said wedding and as a result are both too knackered at the moment to do more than snuggle up on the sofa and have a cuddle - not exactly good if we were ttc! Grin It'll be worth it though, I hope!

dizzykipper sorry to hear about your dad, how is he doing today?

candyshop and babymaking

Think I can see what you're saying - marriage is very expensive and a time to be truly selfish in terms of what money goes on what. Been waiting for 2 years for DP to sort himself out with a ring and get down on one knee!!

He knows that I want to be a Mrs before baby, and that I want baby before I'm 30. So realistically need to get engaged in 2011 to marry in 2012, leaving 2013-2015 to start ttc.

(Can you tell I'm a project manager for a living!!!)

haha organised woman! Sounds like a good plan to me. Plus you're 25 so another couple of years to tie the knot still leaves you time to make babies before 30. We got engaged when i was 25, married at 27 and hoping to conceive at 28. nice timings i think

I thought planning a wedding and managing everyone's expectations and working through your conflicts in relation to that would be good preparation for the more serious joint venture of raising a child.

We've given up on the dream of owning our own home for now. It's very hard to shake off the message we all got as children about home ownership.

Same feelings here Amanda.

We live in a very expensive area, saving hard every month but can't see it being a reality before we have a baby (unless we come into some money). I desperately want it though, because I've been scarred by the insecurity of renting (had to move twice last year, once just after my DH was diagnosed with cancer and just before we got married).

Fancyalittle that's something I hadn't really thought of in relation to having a baby. Imagine if you had to move house in the first few months!
