Hello,

So, I've been TTC on and off for TWO BLOODY YEARS!!!!! And am going to the doctors next week. However, I am the eternal optimist and will be SWI like the best of them for the next few weeks before I start symptom spotting again. Grin

Come and join me and lets see who gets lucky this month!

(But pretty please let me be one. I mean, I am starting the thread, those are the rules aren't they?

waves to busy and lottie - welcome to the thread!

I had promised myself not to get my knickers in a twist and think about it all that much but best laid plans go to waste I guess after trying not to be pregnant for all these years.

that's me exactly! how could I have spent so long thinking I was in peril of immediate up-duffedness only to find that when one starts TTC it's not as easy as I thought? My friends with kids seem to be pretty evenly split on whether they conceived straight away or took a stressfully long time. This is the first proper month of TTC for DH and me so I guess I'll find out (around Feb 18th!) which camp I'll fall into. Good luck ladies!

Greeneyesbigbottom · 31/01/2011 13:02

hi everyone, can i join you? I'm due on to test on 9th Feb but in the 2+ years TTC I have never had the opportunity to wee on a stick as AF always seems to arrive just as I allow myself that tiny glimmer of hope!

I'm 37 and have been checked over, due to start on Clomid next month but as we're not entitled to any NHS treatment thats as far as we can go, as theres no way we can afford IVF Sad

So, here's to a fabulous February, lots of BFP's.

Good Luck xx

KatyCustard · 31/01/2011 19:37

hello busy and lottie and greeneyes and anyone else who's joining in!

Well, I can report a successful session last night (in as much as it happened at all!) In the end a couple of duvets and cushions protected his delicate knees!!! We couldn't stop giggling though Wink !

I've been chuckling away at all the messages on here Grin. POAS last Thursday, let DH know he had to perform that night - he had a stiff neck and was in real pain but there was no way he was getting away with just going to sleep. It was comical if I wasn't so desperate - he was grimacing throughout and wincing with pain! But deed was done and now he's got a month respite. Should be testing 14th Feb but there isn't a hope in hell I'll last until then. Here's hoping for everyone. Smile Smile

KatyCustard · 01/02/2011 08:38

Hello Pooch !

And so it begins... the Two Week Wait!

Who will be first to have tingly boobs? A funny metal taste? Or weird crampyness that may or may not be implantation bleeding?

Oh it's such fun [hmmm]

I've got a really bad flu - is it OK at this point to take some paracetomol? I did try yesterday to do without but cracked as I was so achy and ill. Also I was worried about my temperature as it was sky high - do you think this will affect anything that might have been happening?

Pooch28 · 01/02/2011 14:23

Busyboy yes paracetomol is fine, is the only over-the-counter drug allowed. Hope you feel better soon. Smile I started imagining symptoms the day after I OV'd - change in bowel movements - practically exploded, carried on for 3 days - thought I'd share that with you all. Plus of course twinges, heaviness down below - all par for the course for me for the 2WW. Just waiting for all my other imaginary symptoms to kick in soon.

busyboysmum · 01/02/2011 14:28

Thanks Pooch have spent the day in bed again today drinking smoothies and soup - we got a Vitamix Machine for Christmas and it makes lovely healthy stuff, I thought it might give me a headstart on the TTC if I was chock full of vitamins!!

2ww is a nightmare isn't it? With my two pregnancies I got metallic taste in my mouth as my first symptom and about this time last year had a month with that so was convinced I was pregnant! However wasn't to be - crack on.

Smile
ghosteditor · 02/02/2011 10:44

argh! Now I'm ill too! DH picked up a cough and cold while overseas a few weeks ago. Amazingly (am asthmatic and prone to coughs) I had avoided it until now, but last night got taken out with doom-cough and woke up feeling a bit feverish and my ears and throat are all swollen.

Rubbish! I'm working from home today so that I can slob about in my dressing gown with the cats to keep me company, and so that I could have a bit of extra sleep. Have just finished dealing with emails so am twiddling my thumbs until our US office wakes up and sends more work my way (it's a quiet month in my line of work). Still feel a bit cheeky being on MN though.

eyes busyboy's suggestion about smoothies. I think I'll go blend something nutritious now...

PS how much does it suck to be poorly over prime ovulation time? we're doing it anyway though, even if DH winces a bit when I cough Shock

KatyCustard · 02/02/2011 10:51

ghosteditor I think you should go easy on yourself! Mumsnet is good for your health so I wouldn't feel guilty... (although I am currently avoiding a large pile of washing up and a basket of ironing as I type!)

Hope you feel better busy and ghost !

runaroundstartsnow · 02/02/2011 10:58

Hi can i join please? This is second cycle of TTC since mmc in November.
I also have a terrible cough and cold but have been insisting that DH gets on with it anyway Wink
I am due to test around the 16th, goodluck everyone

ghosteditor · 02/02/2011 10:58

katy you're so sweet!

iwilldothis · 02/02/2011 11:44

hi all,
think I'm due to test some time around the 16th also....not too sure as I'm trying hard not to obsess too much about it this month.....

busyboysmum · 02/02/2011 20:14

Evening ladies - I am still poorly, have had the flu really badly this time, luckily we DTD before I got ill, just hoping that if anything is happening it's not affected by me being ill.

I have totally lived on smoothies, really soothing for the throat as I put lots of ice in as well as fruit and milk, and soup - I even made a slow cooker casserole for tea and ended up blending that as my throat was too sore to swallow any other way.

Roll on testing time ...

Pooch28 · 02/02/2011 20:15

Ghost Busyboy Runaround I have caught your cold too - along with my imaginary PG symptoms. Don't want to give anyone a false hope but did read that one of the earliest symptoms can be a cold etc as your bodies immune system eases off so as not to reject the new foetus. But I'm sure mine is just down to being tired, stressed and obsessing about 2WW and TTC... Have resorted to eating large amounts of chocolate as alcohol is off the cards. Smile

busyboysmum · 02/02/2011 20:33

Do you know what I was thinking that myself - I never usually get so poorly, and I am not stressed or run down - oh that will be it then!! Sorted. Grin

Thanks Pooch brilliant news x

babybythesea · 02/02/2011 21:53

Just spotted this thread. We are all systems go for SWI at the moment - although DH is complaining it's not very romantic. (Romantic? Who said anything about romance? This is procreation - get on with it). So will be POAS in 2 weeks. If I can wait that long. However, I have decided that this time I will not be purchasing any sticks to wee on until AF has failed to put in an appearance. Otherwise I can't restrain myself and test around every 10 minutes from the morning after the first round of SWI! And spend a lot of money in the process. My best effort so far was waking from a dream at about 2.00 and being convinced that I had to take a test Right Now. Which I did, in the dark and foggy with sleep. Aiming clearly wasn't one of my accomplishments that night!! So along with the rest of you - here's hoping that we all get good news in 2 weeks time.

Pooch28 · 02/02/2011 22:26

babybythesea I didn't need to test at all last month let alone at 2am - so convinced was I that I was pg - why bother.... I had EVERY pg symptom under the sun & all before I'd even got to 4 weeks. Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Plus DH practically had his neck in a brace when I insisted on SWI - he knows there's not a hope in hell sex will be romantic until I get a BFP. Not an ounce of sympathy for him though as he wanted to know who I was emailing and I said that I was on MN - he started mocking me for my (in his words) new on-line friends. I then started to explain how I was feeling and he realised that me doing this meant he didnt' have to listen to me going on about it. Never again will he mock me!

LoveInAColdClimate · 03/02/2011 07:43

Hello ladies, mind if I join you? Also due to POAS around the 16th - although pretty sure I know what the result will be as so far this cycle DH has worked past midnight and got up again before 6 on all my EWCM days and has not been in the mood for SWI at all. Rather disappointing as this is the first month of TTC - very poor timing on his work's part! Good luck, everybody...

ghosteditor · 03/02/2011 09:19

hi everyone (especially the other sicklies - poor us). Am back at work today as I have an important meeting, but not sure how I'm going to get through it as I can hardly breathe and feel v. weak. I'm asthmatic so even the tiniest infection goes straight to my lungs. I'm v glad not to have bad cold symptoms though (in that case definitely wouldn't be able to go to meeting - would be too gross!)

Pooch, ok, I'll admit, I was thinking exactly the same thing, as DH has had a cough for two weeks and I've managed to hold it off so far - only to come down with worse symptoms after ov. Ho hum, guess we'll see in a couple of weeks!

Hoping for speedy recovery for all and of course good luck! [BACK AWAY FROM THE STICKS!!]

busyboysmum · 03/02/2011 09:35

Oh it's so good to talk to people as mad as I am - dh has no idea as I am deliberately not even mentioning TTC, he thinks that I have just regained my mojo bless him!! So all weeing on sticks is done in private in this house, he is a very sweet but reserved chap who grew up with brothers and at a boys school so he prefers it this way!

Still poorly here, but not working at the mo (I'm a locum so busier in the summer) so at least I can slob around the house feeling rubbish, don't have to go to work or ring in sick.

Not even thinking about the sticks at the moment - I am trying to double bluff my body by being totally chilled out about the whole thing (!)

ghosteditor · 03/02/2011 10:54

it's all about unleashing the crazy on MN, isn't it? I think partners everywhere should be thanking their lucky stars that they don't have to sit through all of this at home Grin

KatyCustard · 03/02/2011 11:26

Unleashing the crazy? I don't know what you mean!

I woke up feeling very queasy this morning, so that's it, I definately definately am upduffed, no doubt about it! Hmm Grin

OP posts:
LoveInAColdClimate · 03/02/2011 11:34

I have not yet ovulated (according to chart) and have not had SWI on any EWCM days, yet I am already imagining funny metallic tastes and dizziness. Do I get a prize for impressive craziness?

Pooch28 · 03/02/2011 11:49

We should all get prizes for our craziness, I am soooooooooooooo glad I'm not alone. A couple of days after OV last month I even put a hand on where I think the baby (obviously just an empty space in my case) could be and patted it!! Am thinking of writing a book 'My symptoms and other symptoms' by Mad McMad TTC Mad'. Saw my dr this morning as my general feeling of unwell has turned into tonsilitis but said I didn't want to take the antibiotics he was prescribing as thought I might be pg. He looked at me in a v bemused way Hmm but remained silent....
Am at home too about to look up cervical mucus on the web. Don't be jealous, if I glean even the tiniest piece of info I didn't know I will share with you all. Smile
