This is a continuation of the "More ongoing and continuing conceptions and follicling ahead of Feisty, Fabulous Forty somethings"

I thought I would keep the title short as there are so many long ones out there.

I thought I would start the new thread so that you don't forget me Grin

BB when the meter's running my darling you can have a long hard look at whatever you fancy Grin. How are they all at the clinic?

NewImprovedJollster · 20/01/2011 21:41

ooo, not sure I've double posted before; could be too much Marlborough Springs... Grin

BeattieBow · 20/01/2011 21:49

expensive Jolls! they suggested another test when I was there last. (ker-ching!).

I tried to get them on bupa, but they're not bupa recognised. it's a lucrative business definitely.

lia66 · 20/01/2011 22:18

Hiya ladies,

I'm sorry to see so many disspirited (is that a word) faces around this month. I know how you all feel, it completely sucks it really does.

My story for those that are new and don't know, in a nutshell is

I am 44, (last sept) We had been trying for 2 years when I fell with this baby, (32 wks now), in that time I had 2 mc, and before that I'd had 2 at other times.

dh We had given ourselves until Christmas just gone to get preggers and that was it, that would have been 2 and half yrs.

In june I had a disappointing fsh test result that indicated I had reduced ovarian reserves and fertility would definately be reduced now. Dh was fine

That month, I had a fuck it moment, didn's swi, in fact didn't sw anything much that month and bugger me, July gave us our BFP.

Obviously this one has stuck, I am paranoid and I know it's not over till the fat lady screams sings but I do believe I may have another daughter come March sometime.

Don't give up ladies, it's not over till it's over. You are a stronmg bunch of girls and mother nature is a force to be reckoned with. You WILL get there

louise it may be that you missed the smiley face simply by testing at the wrong time of the day for the surge if that makes sense. For instance, if you got a surge first thing in morning, and tested late in day, smiley face would be gone by then. I used smiley faces for a while then just found it too stressful. There's nothing you can do about it cos obviously you don't know exactly when the surge will be but what I'm trying to say is you haven't necessarily not ovulated, perhaps just missed the sign.

I am hoping the councilling is helping a little. Do you have rl people to talk to ?

gumblossom · 20/01/2011 23:08

Louise, I often get my surge in the morning, and by the afternoon the opk is less than positive. So for me testing isn't necessarily better in the afternoon as it suggested by the opk manufacturers. And when I got preg with Charlie I didn't have a proper positive opk, more a nearly positive. So I guess there's a small window of opportunity to catch the surge.

So nice to hear from you Lia. How are you feeling? I hope the pregnancy is going well. I can't wait to do it again. My DH thinks I must be quite mad as I don't have easy pregnancies, but I still find it such a beautiful, magical time and the end result is so worth all the aches, pains and nausea!

Jolls, I'm so sorry you bumped into a prego on the RTD day.How awful.

I have to admit to doing something very silly the other day. A friend asked if I could lend her some baby things for a visiting relative.I was fine with that, but they needed a port-a-cot and I don't have one. My friend/neighbor who is heavily pregnant said she would lend hers. But I just couldn't bring myself to go and get it. I actually went and bought a new one (on sale and reasonably priced) rather than go and see her. I just can't seem to face her. It's awful and she probably thinks I'm a horrible friend. I think she is due in a couple of weeks.

I justified my weird behavior by reasoning that I will in fact need the portable cot myself before too long (though always managed without one in the past)Blush

When it comes to ttc, miscarriage and fertility business, there's not a hell of a lot of rationality going on - at least not in my case! I haven't spent big bucks on fertility treatment, but over the last 4 years I've spent a small fortune on opks, preg tests, supplements and books. Gone are the days of shagging and then missing a period to find a pleasant surprise on the preg test (only one test, mind, not a bucket load 'just to be sure').

Roll on next week, so I can test and get a lovely bfp.Grin

louisesh · 21/01/2011 10:15

Nicole glad you re joining me i the "fishing in the bin" club. They should make it a new oplymic entry!!!! I , too, have bad memories of the didlocam used to diagnose my first mmc and 2 nd mc.Urh....

Hi Lia hope you re well? Always nice to hear from you Smile I used to test in the late morning then i read "don t test till you ve held your urine for 4 hrs etc....." WTF? I can barely hold my urine for 1 hr!!!! So, next month i ll go back to testing on 2 nd wee.Who knew it was going to get so complicated.I m determined to have Georgie's brother or sister I will not let Georgie be in vain. This is a battle of wills and i will win.

Jolls look at you getting all giddy!!! Calm yourself now!!!! At your age too.Wink

Gum Thanks, that reassures me as a few of my tests were very nearly positive.Grh.....

Good to hear you concieved with the same.Don t blame you 1 bit for you not wanting to see your heavily pregnant friend.Does she know about your MC? Would you be able to phone her or e mail her to explain the situation? Don t know if that would work for you?

I m totally with you Gum i ve spent a fortune too on tests, supplements etc......But its what i want more than anything in the world.I ve had the holidays and clothes, dance festivals and nights out.All that seems trival now , especially after having my Georgie. We still book weekends away one every 6 weeks or so but i m sticking to this country as i don t want to go abroad to i ve got Georgie's brother or sister.

I , too yearn for the old innocent days.My first bfp i didn t realise to i was 3 days late!!!! Like that would ever happen now!!

Hi to everyone.Where's Hippy? missing in swi action!!!!

Hi Diege,Muchlove,BB and Italian XXXX

Diege · 21/01/2011 12:58

LOuise I too am a 'fisher' Blush. I then line them up on the bedroon windowsill (best light) but can only guess as to which was done when..maybe I should start marking them up? Hmm
Gum you know that's the sort of thing I would do (re: the cot). As you say though, you will indeed need it one day, so quite a positive purchase in lots of ways Smile
Good to hear from you Lia! GLad things are going well.
BB s today dildo-day or am I getting Confused?
Well, I too am having an odd cycle. According to my opks, CM, and swi plans I have not yet ovulated. However, my temps think otherwise, with a massive rise today. SWI-wise, we managed to swi day before yesterday, which gives on paper an ok chance but in reality all my pregnancies have come from swi on day of ovulation and not the day before. Plus no EWM to speak of at all this month. Dh has been away since Weds night too, so I think events have conspired against me. So feeling pretty cross and Sad; a bit easier to accepts a bfn after lost of shagging than not even being in the game I think? Confused (although I would be gutted to do something like the sme plan and have no result after all that effort!)

BeattieBow · 21/01/2011 13:49

yes dildo cam today. will be good - I'm wondering whether I ov'ed already too. a few days ago the opks did show a second line. now that line has disappeared. had a bit of ewcm too then. but was very early in my cycle. will join the confused lot I think.

(Diege I know that Toni says that temperature is a better indication of ov than either a surge on the opks (which you can miss, or which can start and then stop short of ovulation) or ewcm which might not be present in enough quantity to indicate ov. Then again, I think your temp can be high one day, but low the next, so I guess you have to wait to see whether you have lots of high temps?).

I know what you mean about feeling better with a negative if you have at least tried or dtd enough. that's my issue, for various reasons, i don't think I've had a month for a while where we've dtd excessively. And not sure what to do about this month, what with Vietnam etc. Oh well dildo cam will clarify everything I'm sure Smile

Diege · 21/01/2011 14:00

THanks BB! Yes, my hunch is that ovulation has been and gone, as boobs feel tender todaY (as they do after ov).
What time is your dildocam? Would that be able to tell you if you had ovulated?

Diege · 21/01/2011 14:24

Well, have just done an opk (earlier than I normally do, and a positive, also EWM, so will swi tonight anyway with a glimmer of hope that high tempo today was a 'one off'. Thing is, I normally stop taking agnus castus after ovualtion, so shoud I carry on? Would you get a pos opk the day after ovulation? Confused

hippychick66 · 21/01/2011 14:59

nicole thanks for the message - you're a star. Will reply later when I have time (gotta pick the boys up now).

I must confess I too am a bin dipperBlush.

Just want to say we are all mad, mad do you hear me. It is not the smiley face that gets us preggers it's the sperm and some of us are getting plenty of that - you know who I'm talking to sexybeast

But I do understand your need to see the smiley face. diege I just did a test and got a smiley face (day 9) so we are up for another shag-fest. Last time you and I were this in-syn i got a BFP (so lets do it together!).

lou you are such a fertile murtle - I'm sure you popped an egg this month. Please try not to worry any more. You'll be up-duffed be fore you know it.

lia thanks for your story, it always helps to focus me.

gum thinking of you. I also got pregnant without seeing a smiley face so agree they are not the be all and end all. Hoping you are ok over there in Oz.

jolls I have just been busy but now I know you missed me - I'll try to make more effort Grin

diege do you have the staff toopen up tonight???

hippychick66 · 21/01/2011 15:02

ps. dildo cam. I had never experienced it until last year and now have experienced it too much for my liking.

One time my DH said, "Did you mean to sigh like that when she put it in, sounded like you were enjoying it." I was mortified and said, "I bloody was not enjoying it." He later told me he was only joking and trying to lighten the mood Shock.

BeattieBow · 21/01/2011 16:05

dildo cam over. Left ovary about to pop, womb lining fantastic (apparently). lovely round follicle (fab?!).

so shagfest at chez BB this w/e too?! (always thinking of 'Nam).

Hippy I've also had bad experiences of dildo-cams during my mmc last year, and hope never to be in that place again.

Diege · 21/01/2011 16:09

Grin at your dh Hippy, I like his style. Yes, up for a shag-fest tonight, but will have to fit in between bistro orders as it is indeed open (chef has just confirmed).
I'm putting my order in early and fancy smoked salmon with lemon wedges and french toast to start, followed by a roast dinner with extra crispy roast potatoes. For pudding I fancy homemade rubarb crumble with lost of fresh custard. Then a decaf cappucino with a few chocolates.

Actually on a totally unrelated topic, I have a moral dilemma that you might all be able to help me with. Ordered two boxes of chocs from Hotel Chocolat (a tenner each) for xmas pressies for relatives. Ordered 12th Dec, by 12th Jan had still not turned up, so sent e-mail to the company asking where they were. IN the meantime they did arrive, so sent e-mail saying how do I organise a return as too late for purpose. THis crossed with their reply that apologised for non-arrival and refunded. I've still not heard back about the returns process. Should I eat??

Diege · 21/01/2011 16:10

Yay BB a threesome in the snug!

hippychick66 · 21/01/2011 16:33

BB I know you don't wanna hear this but if I was told - egg about to pop and lining excellent - I would have to do the deed, vietnam or no vietnam. But you don't have to do what i say - do you Hmm.

diege eat them. Stuff the company, they were meant to be for xmas gifts. When tescos deliver other peoples food to me by mistake they always say just keep it and eat - too much hassle to collect. I really like your choices for dinner (we are so alike). I think I'll just have what your having (including the shag afterwards) Ha Ha - Hippy rolls about the floor laughing at her own joke. XXX

Big wave to cereal and nicole. Someone asked what all the phases mean:-

Baggy pants = having a period - do not enter!

Shorts and vest = I'm building up to ovulation and want to remind you how god-damn sexy I am.

Slanket = I am pertty sure that I have popped an egg out and I no longer HAVE to have sex with you (although I might do it for fun). But really I just want to sit in my blanket with sleeves and wait until I can do a ridiculously early home preggo test.

On the bench = I just got a BFP (big fat positive) on a test, but I am far to nervous to shout it from the rooftops and am awaiting my 12 week scan.

So now you know. Grin

lia66 · 21/01/2011 16:36

Go beattie

Go hippy diege eat. Grin

Diege · 21/01/2011 16:56

Bet I'll get an e-mail tomorrow now asking me to return GrinHippy, yes, I'll place a double order then with chef, though I'm eating mine after swi. I have to have something to look forward to Wink

hippychick66 · 21/01/2011 17:32

Ohhh I like that idea - a quick shag and then a lovely big dinner - ok - you're on diege.

Just got sent this:-

THE
NEXT SURVIVOR
SERIES
Six married men
Will be dropped on an island

With one car

And 3 kids each

For six weeks.

Each kid will play two sports
And take either music or dance classes.

There is no fast food.

Each man must

Take care of his 3 kids;
Keep his assigned house clean,
Correct all homework,
Complete science projects,

Cook

Do laundry,
And pay a list of 'pretend' bills
With not enough money.

In addition,

Each man
Will have to budget enough money
For groceries each week.

Each man
Must remember the birthdays
Of all their friends and relatives,
And send cards out on time--no Emailing.

Each man must also take each child
To a doctor's appointment,
A dentist appointment
And a haircut appointment.

He must make one unscheduled and
Inconvenient visit per child to Accident and Emergency.

He must also make cookies or cupcakes
For a school function.

Each man will be responsible for
Decorating his own assigned house,
Planting flowers outside, and keeping it
Presentable at all times.

The men will only have access to television

When the kids are asleep and all chores are done.

The men must shave their legs,

Wear makeup daily,

Adorn themselves with jewellery,

Wear uncomfortable yet stylish shoes,

Keep fingernails polished,

And eyebrows groomed

During one of the six weeks,

The men will have to endure severe
Abdominal cramps, backaches, headaches,
Have extreme, unexplained mood swings
But never once complain or slow down
From other duties.

They must attend weekly school meetings

And church,
And find time at least once to spend
The afternoon at the park or a similar
Setting.

They will need to read a book to the kids each night

And in the morning,

Feed them,

Dress them,
Brush their teeth and
Comb their hair
By 7:30 am.

A test will be given

At the end of the six weeks,

And each father will be required to know

All of the following information:
Each child's
Birthday,
Height, weight,
Shoe size, clothes size,
Doctor's' name,
The child's weight at birth,
Length, time of birth,
And length of labour,
Each child's favourite colour,
Middle name,
Favourite snack,
Favourite song,
Favourite drink,
Favourite toy,
Biggest fear,
And what they want to be when they grow up.

The kids vote them off the island based on performance.

The last man wins only if...
He still
Has enough energy
To be intimate with his spouse
At a moment's notice.

If the last man does win,
He can play the game over and over and over
Again for the next 18-25 years,
Eventually earning the right
To be called Mother!

After you get done laughing,
Send this to as many females as
You think will get a kick out of it and
As many men as you think can handle it.
Just don't send it back to me....

I'm going to bed.

louisesh · 21/01/2011 18:48

Italiangreyhound · 21/01/2011 22:03

Hippy love it, my hubby would win on the washing, cleaning cooking and fail on the doctor's appointment and remembering things!

gumblossom · 21/01/2011 23:17

My hubby would just fail! Unless they include spending his school break (he's a teacher) reading on the couch while his wife does everything, sleeping in til at least 8am,walking the dog for an hour each day, begging his wife to iron his work shirts and trousers, and occasionally cooking meat on the bbq.

He's got it so easy - and a wife who wants to shag alot so she can get upduffedWink

Sounds like there's a bit of shagging going on for many of you. Beattie, there's no way I could resist giving it a go knowing that there's a juicey egg and lovely lining. You could always change the holiday dates couldn't you?

I had a lovely high temp this morning, but not much in the way of symptoms, so not holding out too much hope this time, but at least if AF comes, I'll be back on track and that's a bonus. The challenge will be seducing DH without him knowing where I am at with my cycle, so he doesn't get cold feet and a shriveled memberShock

Anyway...farmer's market. Anyone want me to pick up some fresh haloumi? It is the best. I'll get some creme fresh and strawberries too, and some raspberries. How about some homemade ice cream. Okay...mouth watering now, better go wipe the dribble off my chin!

Diege · 22/01/2011 10:22

Morning! How was it for you, Hippy and BB? Wink
dtd here, though it was touch and go at one point as dh very tired after work trip Hmm. ON the positive side my temps are low today, so the high one just an errant one, but on the negative side the thrush is back Sad. Not great for ttc-ing I know, due to cm problems it creates, so pretty resigned that this won't be the month, and am too sore to try again tonight Blush.
Hope everyone is ok - there's not much washing up from the bistro, just clearing up from the roast dinner maybe, so I am nominating Gum to do that this week Grin
