Glittering seductively in the evening sun, crewed by swarthy slaves, waited on hand and foot by bare-chested manservants bearing a rudimentary form of gin.

We have golden temples decorated with hieroglyphs for sacrificial offerings (and woo from the soothsayers) if required, and The Pit is full of asses? milk.

So, put on your eye make-up that goes out as far as your ears and jewellery so weighty it leaves dents in your head and step out to survey the peasants on the banks.

Can you smell my gingerbread? It's ready in ten minutes....

PrincessBoo · 19/12/2010 17:15

and darling Rie - I feel your droidal pain. I only started to cheer up yesterday. This months was a real, hurty, nasty, mo fo - so much so the thought crossed my mind it might have been an mc had it not been a day early.

Mucho hairstrokes and warm water bottles on your womble xxx

milanomum · 19/12/2010 20:14

I'm here! I've been far too sociable recently in RL and it's interfering with the BESHies.

Fucking droid Aries Shall I run over it with the A-team van (with Mr T inside of course)?
It's really fucking cold here. I don't think it's quite as bad as the south of Engerland (is that near the town of Kent? Wink) but it's wear-three-jumpers-and-tights-under-trousers kind of cold.

Have a feeling the recent lack of thread participants might be down to the excessive diffment conversations. Maybe we should ban all mention of such things from thread?

Can we talk about food? I luffs food.

milanomum · 19/12/2010 20:38

Food question (I'm going to talk food, even if no one else will): what's your Christmas menu like? I'm currently planning ours and am just nosey.

InTheSunshine · 19/12/2010 20:52

I am here. Been to a White collar boxing match this afternoon. Left before it got a bit lairy!! Now I am stuffing pasta into me in an attempt not to have another hangover tomorrow. In festive news we put our tree up today and lights and everyfink!

Boo pass that gingercake over here it'll go down a treat after my tea.

Rie

Milano I luffs food too. Serious obsession.

PrincessBoo · 19/12/2010 21:12

I don't mind you talking about being diffed sweetiepieMilan - I just separated diffed from non diffed in my roll call cos I was getting confused about who was what - so I looked back over whole fred. But I don't mind the odd diffed comment here and there of course - think once you're all 12 weeks and post first scan you'll be more settled with the PESHes anway and only pop in sporadically (sob Wink )

So.. Christmas menu - so far -

Champagne on arrival -maybe with kir royale in the bottom of the glass- or pomegranate juice a la Nigella.

Garlic mushrooms and/ or pate to start.

Aldi 3 bird roast (yes, I am a lazy cheapass cow but we had it last year and it was great!)/ lentil nut roast
bacon wrapped cheese (MrBoo loves them)
roast pots
broccoli (for MrBoo as he doesn't like most of the veg on the menu).
honey glazed parsnips
sprouts and chestnuts
steamed carrots
spicy cabbage
Bread sauce
cranberry sauce

Need to check with our neighbours re pudding - you have just reminded me, not sure if they like Christmas pudding or not.

owlbooty · 19/12/2010 21:31

Bloody hell Boo I'm coming to yours for dinner Grin Please elaborate on the bacon wrapped cheese, that sounds most excellent. Also is the bird in a bird in a bird or just a stack of birds? Details, details.

I've planned nothing. Yes, I am shit. As it's just me and the Mr this year I am really going to have to get my sorry arse in gear or it's going to be the shittest Xmas ever. I has not even got a tree

PrincessBoo · 19/12/2010 21:43

booty bacon wrapped cheese are just Tesco finest bung in the oven jobbies, but they are well moreish and MrBoo insists on them!

and you are not shit. Put your feet up and have a lazy Christmas while you still can.

We aren't snowed in exactly but the roads are pretty scary and I might walk to work tomorrow.

InTheSunshine · 19/12/2010 21:44

OMG Boo dinner at yours?? I am going to my mums - for the last 3 years everyone has been to our house so I am looking forward to just turning up and eating. I don't even care if the carrots are slightly soggy Xmas Grin

PrincessBoo · 19/12/2010 21:45

3 bird roast: www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/product_range/7195_8238.htm

Might try that glaze actually...

Ariesgirl · 19/12/2010 22:25

I'm coming to Boo's for Christmas. I don't care who I piss off Grin. Don't worry about the droid, ladies, we weren't really going for it this month. I just hate them- nasty, painful, messy things which mess up your head and your mood and your boobs and your relationship for at least a few days :(. Wankers

And MrA has a cold and you would think the world is ending.

Truffkin · 19/12/2010 23:35

Howdy Hags, I've not really been about as not a lot to say (droid expected a week today, not hopeful due to no symptoms) and have stayed home this weekend instead of battling through the snow. I did manage a lot of cooking today including fry up, roast dinner and chocolate fudge yule log. I'm hoping to do several yule logs this week in the hope that my final effort will be of a sufficient standard to present to the MiL.

Soz for droid Rie fuckety fucksville

Nice work on Christmas prep Boo you sound like a domestic godess Grin

Thankfully we are away for Chrimbo so no cooking required from me. I have Eve linch at my Dad's (step Mom v good cook), Day at IL's (MiL excellent cook) and Boxing Day at Mom's (ok cook, will have lots of nibbles and treats) I'm sorted!

Things look to be moving ok round us today, buses are running so am hoping to get to work ok tomorrow. 4 more days then it's no work for me until next year. Yippee.

PrincessBoo · 19/12/2010 23:53

Neighbours think Christmas oudding is ok. BUT... I have just remembered someone told me about this! and I think I may try it.

That's if I can actually make it to the shops to buy all the ingredients mind, I'm not even sure about how I'm getting to work tomorrow, got to get smallchild to nursery first and then get to work and according to facecrack our local area is a bit dangereuse. Hmmm.

PrincessBoo · 19/12/2010 23:54

Oh and I'm happy to host the BESH Christmas do - I have a small house but I'm sure I could squeeze you all in Xmas Grin

rocketleaf · 20/12/2010 08:51

OK well thats sorted, if we make it to the midlands but no further we are turning up on your doorstep xmas morning boo.

I tried making it to work this morning and got 1/4 of a mile from home before giving up. Its not like I have much to go in for and the wheel spinning was freaking me out. Slightly concerned about our epic journey down south for xmas but as long as it doesnt snow again I;m hoping it should all be well. Otherwise I think we will be having pasta salad for xmas lunch.

LadyGoneGaga · 20/12/2010 09:31

I haz today off. Hurrah. Back tomoz though. But my plumbing has broken again. This time pipes going upstairs seem to have frozen. So we have no water upstairs and only cold water downstairs. Having to flush loo with a bucket. No shower. But at least heating still works so that's something.

I am never buying a quaint, old period house again!

All Christmas dinners sound lovely (bar maybe Sprocket's pasta salad). We're going to MiniG's Mum and Dad's and I'm just going to turn up and eat. Will be nice not cooking for a change.

Got my early scan in an hour. Shitting myself. Light me some candles - I need the Power of the BESH.

rocketleaf · 20/12/2010 09:35

Special xmas candle lit for you her GG it will be fine!!!!

Ivegotmrbitey · 20/12/2010 09:45

Lighting a Chritmas scented one for you lady!

I am making sticky date pudding with butterscotch sauce instead of Christmas pud. It has so much sugar and butter in it that people can't help but have a burst of hyper activity then a lengthy snooze after wards which I think really captures the spirit of a Christmas day afternoon.

boo that gingerbread was flablass and I am coming to yours for Christmas if I can get out of my village!

milanomum · 20/12/2010 10:55

LGG!!!!! EVERYthing crossed for you!

BOOI want Garlic mushrooms NOW. Can you believe I married a man who diesn't like mushrooms!?
I am drooling at your menu, even though we are quasi-vegetarians (of the fish-eating kind, yes, I know...but they don't have legs>
I'm going for:
goat's cheese tartlets to start (or maybe sweet onion)
maybe some kind of fancy pasta dish with prawns
roast potatoes, steamed veg, more fish
pavlova or raspberry pudding
Christmas pudding (home-made and currently steaming on stove!)
The problem is that where The I.S. comes from they celebrate on the 24th night so we have to do lots off excessive food stuff on the 24th and on the 25th. Terrible, isn't it? Xmas Wink

milanomum · 20/12/2010 10:56

Sticky date pudding?!

AlpinePony · 20/12/2010 11:05

Right, well I've had a sechs failure the last few days - tired/pissed/MIL issues. Xmas dinner yesterday was a success - only two stuffing balls left over and some pudding & chocolate cake - don't worry, I didn't try to carry them! Now I Just need to get her on a flight home today! Hmm All Baileys was consumed so that constitutes a success in my book!

Weird situation this end - comfortable drove through 8" this morning with snow tyres, once I hit the motorway all clear - needed to come to work for annual appraisal - going back home now. At the weekend we had the sun streaming in through the windows and the flat was so fucking hot I threw open the balcony doors and we had the heating off all day despite it being minus-nads outside and snow on the ground! Grin V glad I sold my house a few years ago as it's out in the sticks and they're measuring snow in FEET nevermind inches! Shock Good for skiing of course.

Am just 1DPO so obviously no symptoms to speak of.

owlbooty · 20/12/2010 12:23

G I am all over those candles, oh yes indeed. Everything is still crossed for you x

Bitey I luff the sticky pudding. Please post to me immediately.

At least you got a bit of shagging in, Pony , so all is not lost.

Am considering leaving early. Is fecking snowing again. I haz no spade in my car and I left it parked in a snowdrift as it was.

LadyGoneGaga · 20/12/2010 12:52

Back from scan. Xmas Grin

Little wriggly, baked potato with a heartbeat of 176. Measuring just about spot on (one day out, 1.9cm!) so feel very reassured and going to try and enjoy this now. Blubbed my head off. Then blubbed again in supermarket at all the Mum's with two children happily playing with each other. Wahhh.

Just gor 12 week scan to get through but apparently risk of mc drops a lot once you have seen a HB at 8 weeks - I know there are no guarantees but much, much happier.

Thanks for all the BESH candles and crossed legs, fingers, toes.

rocketleaf · 20/12/2010 12:55

Yey! great news gaga

owlbooty · 20/12/2010 12:58

Oh G that is the best news Grin

Am super, super chuffed for you, you must be so relieved.
