Ancient Egypt; where the regal BESH barge floats gently in De Nile.

Glittering seductively in the evening sun, crewed by swarthy slaves, waited on hand and foot by bare-chested manservants bearing a rudimentary form of gin.

We have golden temples decorated with hieroglyphs for sacrificial offerings (and woo from the soothsayers) if required, and The Pit is full of asses? milk.

So, put on your eye make-up that goes out as far as your ears and jewellery so weighty it leaves dents in your head and step out to survey the peasants on the banks.

Come join the 30s TTC if your womble is as ancient and crumbly as Tutankhamen! Egypt; the thread where everyone eventually gets to be a mummy whether they like it or not.

I was a lurker on MN before I found the BESH fred. It's the only place I found people who seemed like minded. TTC is a fucking nightmare & the humour of EVERYONE on the BESH fred just make it a bit easier.

BarbiesBeaver · 11/11/2010 09:39

Oh dear. What the hell happened? I can understand it completely sadly. I have been posting on many threads (on an American site) and have progressed from the "Wahey! Starting TTC!" type threads, left that as everyone else graduated, then was on the "Oooo this TTC lark is taking a while", left that and joined the "FC and taking bloody ages" thread. I left that as it became obvious I was one of the last on that one too.

I hardly post on there anymore, as I've come to rely on the BESHies thread more, and every time I do go and lurk on it, it is peppered with lots of new BFP's. I've been guilty of reining back on the posting here too - partly because although I'm still TTC, I'm unlikely to get any sort of a win without major interventions, and can't really relate to the symptom spotting/counting days and so on. I feel bad for that now - it's no one elses fault that I'm in this situation.

Tis the nature of the beast I'm afraid, those getting their wins will feel guilty for those left behind, and those left behind will inevitably feel jealous and sad (but also happy for the other people) and then probably guilty for feeling like that, and it becomes a bit of a cycle.

I feel sad it's come to this, I think a lot of humour and support came from these threads, and I'm genuinely upset that all the posters (and probably lots of lurkers) won't have this little bit of brightness to just tip the balance between a really shit day, and a day which was tough but bearable.

LadyGoneGaga · 11/11/2010 09:44

Bloody hell. I have a night off and look what happens.

Sounds like is a fait accompli. For what it's worth I'm really sad about your decisions. You lot were so very, very kind to me through what was a really dark time in my life. I was moved and touched by your concern and came to rely on this place.

All feels a bit moot though now.

Owlie thanks for the great fred.

Ivegotmrbitey · 11/11/2010 09:52

Anyone still here? I will miss you salty and aries I have found you both very supportive and on days when I thought nothing would make me smile you have both made me cry laughing. Can understand that times change and that we are all on an emotional rollercoaster and you need to do what is right for you. Did feel a bit sad last night, sort of cyber dumped ( yes I know melodramatic - I have PMT)and it probably stung more because so many people left en masse. Hopefully bump into you somewhere else on here.

Anyway, that's enough wailing and gnashing of teeth for me, I have baybees to conceive, gin to drink and baby dust to snort.

Ginfox · 11/11/2010 10:18

Erm.... would anyone who is still on the luxurious BESH barge - or at least watching it from the river bank - like some good news?

Ivegotmrbitey · 11/11/2010 10:30

gin me! I would! Please! Is it what I think?????

PrincessBoo · 11/11/2010 10:34

Oh Gin , is it? is it?

PrincessBoo · 11/11/2010 10:35

and Owlie you have created a beautiful place, please come back and join us

Ginfox · 11/11/2010 10:37

Well the fact that reading all of last nights "goodbyes" made me want to cry, combined with the lack of droidage would make me think something was up.

What really convinced me was the BFP I got this morning! [Ohmigod emoticon]

Can't quite believe it tho. Think I need to head down to Boots, buy an armful of sticks, and spend rest of day convincing myself it wasn't a fluke.

BarbiesBeaver · 11/11/2010 10:39

See Hooters you created a lucky thread already! Well done GrinFox.

LadyGoneGaga · 11/11/2010 10:40

Congratulations, wish you'd done it on my fred though. Poor batting average was that! Grin

Ivegotmrbitey · 11/11/2010 10:40

Whoopee! Congratulations! And what beauifully timed good news. Very very happy for you! Also last night made me cry too have put it down to PMT but you ginnyginfox have relit the flames of my menkul!

Ivegotmrbitey · 11/11/2010 10:41

PrincessBoo · 11/11/2010 10:43

That, my dear Foxy is just what those of us who are still here needed. I am so fecking pleased for you :o

In menkul news, I have had some cramping in the night and am convinced wondering if it was implantation. I've got aaages till droid is due. But may buy some cheap piss sticks from Aldi anyway.

PrincessBoo · 11/11/2010 10:45

owlie owlie owlie owlie owlie owlie owlie owlie owlie owlie

Ginfox · 11/11/2010 10:55

Twit twoo twit twoo twit twoo

(That's owl-speak for "Come back Owlie". But you knew that of course)

Ginfox · 11/11/2010 10:59

Technically I did do it on your fabulous thread Gaga, but I didn't know at the time. You should be able to share the glory with the Owl shurely?

AlpinePony · 11/11/2010 11:02

Well done grinfox ! GrinGin

Well, as someone who was on the first ever BESH thread - before we were even BESH, I welcome each and every new person (except, sorry to say Blush those who get diffed at just the nod in the general direction of a cock) - we are a broad church - but it does help if you've been in the game a few months. I am very happy that the BESH Palace is returning to its former glory of humour and not taking itself too seriously.

I know none of us have any stake in this whatsoever - 'tis after all only a messageboard on a messageboard on interweb - but I honestly wish everyone here to stay and try and enjoy. But the slashing of wrists in a monthly basis is somewhat draining.

Yes, there are new faces - some of whom we'll click with more than others. Some of the FESHes I expect to remain in touch with for years - some not - and, I hope I'm able to build genuine friendships with some of you. But it's an exciting time and it's great to meet new friends - as I'm 36 I'm not really in to "cliques" and saying "my class" vs. "your class". :( Angry

owlie Very much like the theme - although not sure Ancient Egypt is for me... too much sitting around - and of course my people didn't have such a great time there...

Ivegotmrbitey · 11/11/2010 11:06

ginfox just a thought - you had better remove some of your bling as I have heard that it is ++ bad to carry anything while diffed Wink

PrincessBoo · 11/11/2010 11:08

Thanks Alps glad it's not the end for the BESH :)

Ginfox · 11/11/2010 11:17

Thanks Alp. Just to state my qualifications, Mr F and I have been trying for nearly 2 years with not so much as a faint positive, so although I'm a new MNer, I'm definitley a practiced menkuller.

I gotta say that until we started TTC I had no concept of the sheer crapness of the 2ww, followed by the inevitable droidage. The fact that here are people who know just how you feel, and can have a laugh about it, makes sooo much difference. You're all brilliant.

Ivegotmrbitey · 11/11/2010 11:22

alps if you're tired of sitting around you can always oil me other BESHs?

gin you are making me weepy with your general loveliness and your BFP, in a good way but it is still a bit embarassing in the office. Kindly administer crocodile slaps all round.

Thanks

AlpinePony · 11/11/2010 11:26

bitey I'd love to, but I've got 5 litres of almond oil to rub in to Tom Hardy before sun goes down. Grin

(I do realise I've probably upset loads of people with my previous post. Always did that at school too.)

Ginfox · 11/11/2010 11:27

Sorry Bitey, I was being very un-BESHlike. Allow me to slap you with the tail end of an asp - don't think I could lift a croc, plus we probably don't want it in the barge with us.

PrincessBoo · 11/11/2010 11:32

I just wish Owly would come back.
