Having difficulties ttc#2?

Lychees · 13/09/2010 15:00

After chatting on another thread, I've discovered that quite a few of us are having trouble ttc#2.

It's difficult to find much support in RL; people tell you that you should be happy as you already have a DC [I really am!] and unless they've been there, they don't really understand why it's so upsetting not to be able to get pregnant again so I've created this thread so we can share and we have a place that we can rant/vent/moan/support each other......

Sorry for the unimaginitive title ... marketing is not my area of expertise Smile!

FYI, I'm 36, DH is 38, we have DS who is just over two and a half and we have been ttc#2 for 13 months.

We have had bloods and SA on the NHS and an internal scan and AMH privately and so far, our status is unexplained sub-fertility. If I don't get my BFP this time, next month we'll be having another SA and HSG privately.

Am going all ok. Had a scan today (28 weeks) and everything ok apart a low placenta. Points hope all is well with you too. Am liking the crustacean idea.

I still haven't announced my pregnancy on fb. Can't bring myself to do it after everything. Still feel really lucky to be pregnant so just trying to enjoy it really.

Pull up a chair and gets a strong Brew with one sugar. Been ttc for a dc 2 for about 2.5 years. Have had 2 MC, one a couple of months ago, just found out a good friend is expecting dc number 2 and whilst I am happy for her I feel so Angry and Sad that my stupid body is not working. It seems to be the whole world and her dog are pg with 2,3,4+ dc everyone except for ME and its not fair. Why is nature so cruel to give people lots of dcs and others none or 1. Sorry this is the only thread i can rant illogically Smile

pigletmania · 02/04/2011 23:07

my friend is expecting dc 3 I mean, and friends everywhere on my Facebook, are talking about their pregnancies in their status of posting pictures of their baby bumps Sad

thumbwitch · 02/04/2011 23:12

A good rant is needed, isn't it, piglet! one of my friends at playgroup happily told me that she was pg with no.2 after I had stupidly told her that I was - now she still is of course, but we are no longer going to go through it together as I had fondly imagined. I too think "why meeeee? why can't I hold onto a baby?"
But there are always others worse off - another friend there had 3 MCs prior to having her little boy at 43; she's never even considered trying for a 2nd, too happy to have got the miraculous one.

Duffegg - :(. And have a Wine since your AF is here.

pigletmania · 02/04/2011 23:18

Oh thumb big (((hugs))) before my recent MC, I was constantly knicker checking, fat lot of good the knicker checking was, still MC, just served to make me more anxious.

thumbwitch · 02/04/2011 23:23

piglet - I don't know which is worse - I wasn't checking because this time felt different to last time, stronger positive test, seemed that I might have been pg longer, in which case some of the symptoms disappearing was less concerning - but in hindsight the loss of boob tenderness and my hair starting to shed again were in fact signs. So when I got the sudden blood drop last Wednesday it was a hell of a shock - can't win either way!

thumbwitch · 02/04/2011 23:23

(((hugs))) to you too - it's so shit. :(

pigletmania · 02/04/2011 23:29

awww thumb it sucks doesent it Sad. I knew I guess that both pg were doomed to fail as I did not have morning sickness like I did with dd. I genuinely think that it is a sign that the pregnancy is going well.

pigletmania · 02/04/2011 23:30

I am ranting everywhere on MN some people probably think that I am a fit mad and unhindged

thumbwitch · 02/04/2011 23:33

see, I didn't get morning sickness with DS either so not having that didn't really impact on me. Just hope that I get another go - being 43 now, it's getting less and less likely.
I know what you mean about ranting elsewhere though - I am trying to keep a lid on it but I know I'm being shorter with people than normal!

pigletmania · 02/04/2011 23:35

Well I have a friend who is 49, and she had her first dc at 43 and her last dc at 45 so there is still hope Smile

pigletmania · 02/04/2011 23:36

My mum had me many moons ago and she was 42 when i was born

thumbwitch · 02/04/2011 23:47

thanks piglet - I'm hanging onto the hope!

pigletmania · 03/04/2011 08:27

good luck thumb Iv come to the realisation that I have to enjoy what I have, a lovely dh and a beautiful dd and stop moping about not being able to have a 2nd. I know a few peple in RL who are childless because they are not able to have a dc at all so at least I am a mummy. However I get to this stage, then somebody else that i know announces that they are pg and all my best intentions goes down the loo.

Lychees · 03/04/2011 19:28

Welcome Piglet!

Just a quick one from me .... I got a BFN after my third attempt of IUI so we're now having a break and planning to go and see our consultant to discuss IVF next month.

Hope you're okay Thumb!

I am sorry to hear that Lychees, thinking of you. I am going to have one more go in May and then if that doesn't work I think we too are going to go straight to IVF privately too. xx

aww lychees thanks and big hugs to you ((((()))))

thumbwitch · 03/04/2011 23:18

Awww so sorry to hear that Lychees.

I am ok - I hope! - feeling a bit queasy and grumbling guts today but I think that might be the prawns we had for dinner yesterday - DH's guts are a bit rough too. No temp, but if I start one I'm offski to the hospital immediately just in case.

Bleeding stopped yesterday evening, none this morning - I see the doc today for other things but will get her to change the scan request on weds from 'dating' to 'is there anythhing left?' and then we'll go from there. Fingers crossed it was complete and I don't need the D&C, hey.

Good luck with IUI Daisy - hope it works this time for you.

pigletmania · 04/04/2011 18:19

How are things going thumb, everything ok or not

thumbwitch · 05/04/2011 10:51

bleeding has completely finished now - scan is tomorrow morning at 11:30 so will know after that if everything has gone, but I think it has. Had my HCG levels and FBC taken yesterday - will get results of those on Friday. Hope that's gone right down too.

thumbwitch · 06/04/2011 14:41

Just to update quickly - scan showed everything has gone so no D&C required, thankfully. Got to take small mercies with a grateful heart!
And move on to trying again.

HalleLouja · 07/04/2011 09:10

Thumb more hugs to you. As you say a D and C doesn't sound much fun.
