Settle down girls settle down as I hand you all a yummy pornstar cocktail complete with a sparkler and tacky umbrella. I take it we are all wearing our fabulous vintage 50's frocks, high heels and have our red lipstick on? Make yourself comfortable in the penthouse... the naked butlers are just heading in with grapes and truffles in trays...

All new first timers welcome - as long as suitable goodies and alcohol are dropped into the penthouse for all to share.

Oh and no AF around here - only FERTD.... Capishe??

Hi viroids, swanky new Fred lovin your work Leggy Just popped in on my phone whilst DH has a quick spaz between BB instalments. Hair of dog had desired effect and also won me a curry courtesy of treating DH love him. We're heading back up to Brum in the morning for a weekend staying with the outlaws and visiting the extended familes, good stuff but early start hence the uneventful evening at home in front of the goggle box.

Hoping you all have lovely long ones (ooo err) and here's to the next BFP (clearly Lanky's after starting new Fred)

yumstepmum · 27/08/2010 22:52

Haha, Truffkin, please explain how your husband is having a "quick spaz" between BB installments?! Sounds most peculiar - perhaps it's lost in translation up North?!

How's everyone's Friday night going? I'm feeling aged - watching "Pop Goes The Sixties" on "Yesterday". I don't think I'm the target audience!

Someone must be doing something exciting they can share?

alien06 · 27/08/2010 22:57

Howdy yumstepmum I am sadly not doing anything exciting! Watching BB and waiting the call from DH to pick him up from his night out ( he is not wanting to consider reducing alcohol to aid TTC at the moment)

I am having pains in my lower abdomen at the moment, had them all day, I am guessing that they are ovulation pains, as nothing else they could be ?? So I shall be getting some action this weekend me thinks!

I really like having this website to "chat" to people as feel pretty lonely with all this TT malarkey as not told anyone that we are, I am going to try to beg DH to let me tell my best m8 xx

cherrycobbler · 27/08/2010 23:06

hello hello, loooove what you've done with the place lanky! Lets hope the new thread luck that worked for bunnygirl and mrsW works for you too.

mrsW and halo HELLO!! Glad you enjoyed the book! For my part I love hearing from you and how you're doing so feel free to pop in anytime.

lanky have fun in Devon, garden hope norfolk break is lovely, truffkin enjoy inlawtastic weekend and glad hangover was duly beaten into submission by wise choice of lunch and dinner. I have just eaten TWO DINNERS for no real reason, not even very hungry just fancied it. Oops.

alien def start the shagging this weekend!!

big wave to everyone else, welcome to yumstepmum. Missed BB, am gutted but trying to be cool and not complain about it to DH so he still thinks I'm, like, well cool, innit, and he wants to have lots of SWI next month. The things I have to do...

also after the will-they-won't-they excitement with my shy ovaries this month I think I'm going to invest in a CBFM, even though I did initially say I'd wait for a year of TTC given its a teeeeeeny bit more expensive than my £5 Boots thermometer. Flick - is it worth it? Is it easy to use? Hope you're feeling much better today (by the time you read it, will be your Sat) xxx

alien06 · 27/08/2010 23:20

cherrycobbler haha I shall try my best ;)

Keep forgetting to ask- does anyone know of any good TTC books? I have Miriam Stoppards one already , think I know all there is to know but cant help doing LOADS of research lol.

I was thinking the same thing cherrycobbler about the CBFM , keep seeing it in the pharmacies but wasnt sure on whether to get it or not. have been using ovulation tests both CB and pharmacies own brands and have got some smiley faces (CB) and positive ovulation results on pharmacies own brands, been at it during the smiley face time, is that right or should it be a few days after??

sorry for all the questions!

x

alien06 · 28/08/2010 00:26
Sad sitting at home alone on a Friday night is not a good idea when can't stop thinking about TTC :( doesn't help that I don't have many friends ( moved to new area 2 years ago) as people are either young, got children or had their friend bases already :( sorry feeling pretty down whilst sitting here waiting for call from other half to pick him up after his night out with all of his mates.....

I need a girlie night out sooooo badly, cocktails dressing up , i know that would make me feel better but no flipping people to go out with grrrrrrrrrr.

Oh well next week back to work, suppose at least then I will have twenty three darling 5-year olds to talk to Hmm

rant over...going to head to bed and try to sleep , not much point as will be woken up in hour or so!

Morning all,

Happy bank holiday weekend to you all :)

No, flo no such luck here for us, just a plain, old, normal weekend in HK. I love it when you and mrsW pop back as it feels strange to chat to you on the grads thread so you must come back- that's an order! Thanks for your thoughts on the CBFM too flo- I still don't really know if I get it so maybe you can help a smidge? It showed a high on day 18, then peaks on day 19 and 20 and then a high on day 21. I'm not sure whether the peaks are the day you actually ovulate or not? Do you know? or cookie or lucky?

Despite not really appearing t know how it works Blush I do recommend it cherry ! It is easy to use on a day to day basis and I like the reassurance that it gives me that my body is actually appearing to work. I never quite trusted FF as I feel like I sometimes used to make stuff up when I entered it in! It just added to my madness whereas what the CBFM is beyond my tampering with so I trust it more! Hope that makes sense. Love that you had two dinners BTW Grin

Sorry your feeling down alien Are your work colleagues people you can socialise with? Maybe you can organise a big, back to work drinks so you can get your glad rags on and down a few cocktails!

Hi yumstepmum! You were with us a little while a go where you not? I've added you to the list but you've not said what number cycle you are on.

garden enjoy a day of rest before the immense SWI athon begins Wink get your self ready to keeeeeep shaging!

toria! how good do your symptoms sound?!!!!! When will you test again?

Hope all the ladies visiting inlaws, Devon, Norfolk and else where have a fab weekend.

I'll be here waiting for you when you all head back to work on Tuesday.

Lots of love xxx

felicityFlick · 28/08/2010 05:20

I mean you're of course alien

and I spelt shagging wrong too!

Big black mark for Miss Flick

alien06 · 28/08/2010 09:08

Hey, quick post from phone, sadly work colleagues aren't really interested in that sort of thing :( I tried organising something at the end of term but to no avail.
Hope u all have a lovely day.x

Toriajayne · 28/08/2010 09:10

Morning ladies. Well this morning I'm only faintly sicky so no chance of a day off lol. Only six hours today though and OH is away so tonight can eat ice cream and watch Stardust and Twilight other films he dislikes.

Flick I'm trying to put it off until after ERTD is actually due cos otherwise I'll turn into an obsessive and test every day and I don't have that kind of cash, I did find an old CB Plus one in the bathroom from back in the days I wasn't trying to get pregnant which I took this morning and it was negative have none in the house so will just not allow myself to buy one unless there's still no sign Monday. Unfortunaely I don't get regular symptoms of ERTD's approach so can't really look out for them!

Welcome yumstepmum

Everyone enjoy their bank holiday weekends, we don't have it up here so will be jealously thinking of you all while I am serving narky old men who don't understand social convention and that I am not allowed to take heart monitors apart, even if they do take lithium button batteries.

yumstepmum · 28/08/2010 10:00

Morning all!

Alien - I'm in the same boat. Moved to be with DH and am now miles away from friends and only have DH's friends here. Work far away too so don't really have the option of seeing work friends either. I've found it hard but I just try to keep in touch with people best I can - nothing beats being able to go for a girly drink and catch up though :(

Flick - yep I popped in a little while back - got over excited about a one-off unplanned S-sortofWI but not to be. Same again this month so just got to wait and see. Plan is to definitely TTC from next month so does that count as first cycle?

Hope everyone's having a good weekend.

Truffkin · 28/08/2010 10:03

Morning frolickers, just thought I would clarify that 'spazzing' is how my DH and his geek mates refer to gaming so was on the playstation! Happy weekend people

cookiemoo · 28/08/2010 10:40

flick peak on cbfm indicates that you should ov in next 24hours or so depending on how long the surge in hormones lasts. I usually make sure we're swi from the first high until after my peak readings. I usually only have two peak days like you. Hope that helps!
:)

crazydayz · 28/08/2010 10:47

Happy BH weekend ladies. I am on call this weekend again so please keep your fingers crossed that the phone doesn't ring!

Love the new fred Lanky

Big Congratulations Steg

Flick Did you use other ovulation predictors before you invested in CBFM? Still no sign of ERTD your end?

I'm packing for my hols as I fly on Tuesday!

highheelsandequations · 28/08/2010 10:54

Morning girls, do they serve bacon and fried egg butties in here? Went out for a spur of the moment dinner last night, was lovely but far too much wine was consumed and now I am suffering. Loving the new place Lanky.

Will post properly later but had to say huge congratulations to steg, it gives me hope that you've got your BFP after trying for so long.

Also love to zippys, I can't begin to imagine what you're going through just now but wish you all the best in your journey. Let us know how the proposal goes.

felicityFlick · 28/08/2010 11:19

Fingers firmly crossed for a silent phone crazy :) What do you do? I didn't use any other ovulation predictors before I invested, I'm an impatient, impulse kinda gal! I was temping for four months before but hadn't used any OPK sticks or anything. Still no sign of ERTD today although I am recognising the irrational anger that usually proceeds it's arrival! Am missing a few of my usual ERTD symptoms though so will have to see Confused So exciting about your holiday!

Thanks cookie :)

I thought I recognised you yumstepmum :) Yep, lets leave next month as cycle 1. If we need to of course Wink

Oh toria you are a girl after my own heart :)Sorry about the BFN but as you know, it is still to early. Although dishing out this advice makes me the number one hypocrite! Have you seen these I have some in the post to me and am trying to resist testing until they arrive yeahright They were posted to me on weds so I predict they should get here maybe Monday or Tuesday andthenIcantesteveryday

What a shame about your work colleagues alien but at least you have us :) Are there any clubs/classes you could join that might help you meet people?

felicityFlick · 28/08/2010 11:23

one bacon and egg butty coming up higheels Enjoy! xxx

cookiemoo · 28/08/2010 13:01

Fingers crossed for you crazy, I was on call last weekend so can sympathise. I'm sure it'll be nice and quiet. :)

roamfree · 28/08/2010 13:10

Hi gals,
Sorry I've been away for a wee while - took aaages to set my hair in this gorgeous '50s hairdo . Thought I had better make an effort for you all.

Very jealous of the bank holiday weekend most of you are enjoying. I live in the Netherlands so no such luck for us. Talking of which, alien and yum I feel ya - it's tough moving to a new place and it can take a really long time to meet people. Sometimes it really gets to me as well.

flick, I'm impressed with your bargain bulk shipment of tests! I have just been out to buy my very first test ever. It is now sitting on the kitchen table tempting me. I justified purchasing one (a full 3 days before I actually intend to use it) because I have a busy work week and might not get to the shops (I live in the city centre so this is pretty ridiculous). Now I realise this is the equivalent of buying a packet of chocolate chip cookies (you know those yummy chewy, gooey ones) and expecting myself not to touch them (let alone scoff the entire packet) for three whole days. As my track record on this is abismal, I am really not sure how I am going to fare...

Second issue is that the instructions are only in Dutch, German or French. As I am yet to master the Germanic languages, I am relying on my A level French (barely used for 13 years). Fortunately, there are some pictures, but I did want to ask whether the more experienced testers amongst you usually pee directly onto the stick or into a receptical of some kind? Any preferences/advice?! I'm sure it's pretty fool-proof, but I have got 3 days to kill before I can use the damn thing so may as well use them productively (i.e. obsessing)!

Anyway, sorry for waffling on about me. I love the way you are all so considerate in responding to each other. I promise I will get better at that aspect of forum life (I'm completely new to this virtual world!).

highheelsandequations · 28/08/2010 14:11

Thanks for the butty Flick, feeling much better now!

Thanks to whoever recommended The Baby Making Bible, I cracked and ordered it off amazon and it arrived yesterday, so I have spent the morning reading it and planning the next weeks meals using the recommendations. I've also told DP that "the book says I need to relax and have lots of baths with nice oils instead of running about", not sure if he believes me, think he maybe thinks I'm trying to get out of tidying the kitchen :o

Salt was very enjoyable, not very believable but good fun, and I like Angelina Jolie :)

Roam it depends how good your aim is Wink I usually just pee on the stick but others prefer to pee in a pot then dip!

Welcome to the newcomers (I'm starting to feel old with all these people joining after me!) and waves to everyone else.

TomboyWife · 28/08/2010 15:21

Roam if it's a big plastic stick thing, you can pee straight onto it. I've also had some that were just little strips of paper and those you need to dip, but I think most tests these days are of the big plastic stick variety.

Today I'm wondering what's going on with me. I haven't got any EWCM this month, but I feel rather post-ovulatory. I also feel dizzy and faintly sick by spells, and have done for the past several days. There's a little niggle in the back of my mind saying, "Are you one of those people who get pg but keep bleeding? Could you have got pg last month and not realised?" Or I could just be coming down with something. Confused

alien06 · 28/08/2010 17:09

hey, thanks everyone for your advice, yup its hard meeting new people, especially when they are not interested in meeting new people themselves! I'll survive just have to pack away my high heels :(

I feel better today as did my good deed for the year!! I had two young girls knock on my door at 4am ( my light was on as was reading after picking hubby up) and they needed cab numbers as they had been in a row with their ex boyfriends, so i got them a cab number but knew that they wouldnt answer that late, so I took them home :-)

They were so grateful, bless them, I just didnt want to have to wonder if they got home, plus if they started walking they wouldnt have got far without some wierdos picking them up Confused

So that made me feel like I can help people :)

My friend had her baby yday , a baby girl so I spent the afternoon getting her some lovely bits which I loved doing, oh and I have introduced my best mate to MN :0)

Flick I looked into netball as rather useful in that ( im 5ft 11" lol) but I dont have the time what with my teaching job, I cant really commit to something each week as may not be able to make it there.

x

Toriajayne · 28/08/2010 17:12

Yes Flick, I do indeed know it's too early, was just being optimistic, was expecting the BFN though really (as I know it's too fecking early) so not too traumatic. Have just bought from your link so will at least stop shelling out for ERs now hehehe... Am now under strict instructions to make the most of my three days off next week and go to a Dr as one way or another I am suffering. I'll make it for Wed, then if ERTD hasn't shown her ugly face and still BFN then I can ask for help, and if ERTD has shown up I can ask why I feel like death!

Roamfree I've used both methods depending on the type of test and how accurate I'm feeling lol. In one case, after buying a test in panic while I was at uni and finding out it was a dipstrip I used the cap from my Immac cream

Everyone else Hope your weekends are going well and the hangovers are clearing! :)

alien06 · 28/08/2010 17:55

forgot to add how long did most peoples ovulation pains last??? I have had mine for two days now and they are quite noticeable---

oh joy its raining agaiiiiiinnnnn

luckyseven · 28/08/2010 20:59

hi girls glad to see this thread is so busy chatty and fun! Have no internet at the min so on the unreliable phone. Just wanted to give my experience on the cbfm. I conceived on the first peak. The way it is set up is that once you get your first peak it will always follow with a second peak and then a high. Basically don t waste your sticks once you get the first peak stick in a blank one and it will make no difference and save you money if you have to use it for a few months. It took us four months of cbfm to score and it was only that month that cbfm and f f matched up so if you can deal with temp and poas in the morning persevere. Halo i am not lost just mia cause dh wanted sky sports and we are still waiting to get broadband back. I miss mn!
