The one before the BESHory Towers. Easy one for summer: I have dug up a fishing pond in the middle of the Palace, put a roof light over it, got some fishin' sticks and put some Gershwin on. Salad's providing Elderflower Fizz, served by newbs in topless bikinis. Could life be better?

Come 'ere poppet and let's have some scones and tea. Yes at this hour. I searched brown spotting a few times and it scared the shit out of me. Then I arrived here and saw how many people have it. They can't all be dying of cervical cancer or have the clap can they? And your smear came back normal and ok. Hang in there.

MountTheFairy · 01/08/2010 09:49

'Tis normal to menkul HB, that is one menkuling situation. And that's what the fred is for, isn't it? We will all remind eachother of the fun times once we are diffed!

Oh, Edie is one of my favorite names as well.

HB I think the rather premature new thread may have confuzzled us - are supposed to be hither or thither?!

I agree with M&M (still think it's a bit suspicious that they're always online together); how could you be doing anything but menkulling when your body is behaving like this? Good that you now have A Plan.

In other news, dad is back in hospital AGAIN . His bile drain came out yesterday (had only a single stitch holding it in place, but the guy that fitted it said he had never known one come out). Went to local A&E, who had never seen anything like it and didn't have anyone who could refit it. By the time HO and I arrived up there, they had found him a bed in a hosp near us, so we all drove back down again.

HO and I had been planning a fun day for once, ideally one with no chat about cancer - instead we spent 7 hours driving around and now have my mum staying with us.

He is on a 20-bedded ward that was built in 1867. For once I am not exaggerating, there are photos with that date on, it hasn't changed one jot since.

The nurses admitted him but said he wouldn't see a doctor until Monday. HO put his foot down and insisted that the on call doctor be contacted, given that dad has got bile collecting inside his body, and we had shown them the letters which documented that there are two different infective organisms in that. So that doc came, eyeballed dad, read the letters, and said they will reinsert the drain on Monday, unless he becomes septic today, in which case they will call the interventional radiologist.

So in essence they are happy for dad to just sit there, with more and more infected bile flowing through his body, rather than disturb someone's weekend. And there's fuck all I can do about it.

Ariesgirl · 01/08/2010 09:59

Fucking hell Lyra. I mean for fuck's sake. Unless he becomes septic today? No wonder people moan about the NHS - I know they do a great job in many ways - but what possible medical reason can there be for waiting? I'm so sorry for all of you.

Muser · 01/08/2010 10:01

What Aries said. Fucking hell.

Headbanger · 01/08/2010 10:01

Oh Lyra . How utterly obtuse, lazy and absurd - what, now the NHS waits for people to get even more ill before they act?

I'm so sorry and angry on your behalf. What consistently infuriates me about this is that you never seem to have proper access to someone from whom you can demand action and answers. It's absurd.

Headbanger · 01/08/2010 10:02

Ps - here until we have to go to the Harem I guess. Sorry for confuzzlement - we were nothing like as far along on this thread as I thought.

Medee · 01/08/2010 10:03

Bloody hell, Lyra.

RunLyraRun · 01/08/2010 10:17

It's the weekend, isn't it. Hospitals simply do not function at the weekend - at the most they may make a vague attempt to keep the patients alive until Monday comes.

Plus it's a hospital we've never been to before, where no-one knows dad's long and complex history (the letter from his surgeon does say "extraordinary" case), and his permanent bile drain is a very rare complication.

Scorpette · 01/08/2010 10:21

FUCKING BASTARDS! How dare they leave an already very ill man to get worse and worse just because it's the fucking weekend?! Why the fuck are they waiting until it gets septic - surely the situation as it is now is already intolerable?! Sounds like the medical care is stuck in 1867, not just the layout And how can the other hospital not have anyone who doesn't know what his bile drain is or how to fix it?! Just so aaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh for you and your family; it's Just Not Good Enough. The way the NHS won't run all its services at the weekend is a disgrace. But good for HO being so firm with them. You gots a good one there

Candles are ON for PapaLyra and give him some gentle hugs filled with BESHlove from us.

Scorpette · 01/08/2010 10:24

PS HB, I dunno if this helps or hurts, but last August, I had 11 days of spotting before my droid

Scorpette · 01/08/2010 10:26

X-post about the rare bile drain thing, but still - FFS!

Headbanger · 01/08/2010 10:30

Score 'tis helpful thanks - I don't have any diff symptoms, and lots of PMT ones, so knowing that the droid is coming is, in a perverse and backward sort of way, not too bad. I just would like to know where I stand, as it were!

Saladbomb · 01/08/2010 11:17

Shocked about your dad OhLyraOh I haven't had much to do with the NHS (yet) but that is appalling. Surely if the treatment your dad needs is so specialised then the person capable of doing it must expect to be disturbed at a weekend occasionally. I just don't get it, grrhhh. Your HO sounds like a star tho.

Headcase that is a mind fuck and no mistake, no wonder you are living up to your name. Your plan sounds a good one, so hang in there. Hmm, what can we distract you with? We need more topless newbs with elderflower plonk in here unless we can transport over some of the male concubines from your premature harem?

MountTheFairy · 01/08/2010 11:24

Lyra. I am so sorry. How the fuck they operate on the premise that people do not get sick on the weekend beats me! AGGHH! And it's not like NHS is cheap. I mean, I know it's there for everyone, but I do have a faint moment whenever I look at my pay cheque. Or nowadays CH's pay cheque.

MountTheFairy · 01/08/2010 11:59

Saladbomb · 01/08/2010 12:58

All the talk of dolphins a few days ago reminded me of the first time the OH saw the sign to the leisure centre near where my folks live (small boring and very very land locked commuter town). It's rather imaginatively call the Dolphin Centre so he got all excited because he thought there were actual dolphins there. Daft lad hasn't lived it down yet.

Mmm, should I got to the allotment and do some weeding or should I bake? (stupid question)

Saladbomb · 01/08/2010 13:00

BWT what are the rules on thread length? Is it max. no. of pages or max. no. of posts?

Muser · 01/08/2010 13:05

Posts, they die at around 1000 posts. Sometimes if we all post at once you can get it up to 1003 or so.

MountTheFairy · 01/08/2010 13:06

Me thinks 1001 post. Like 1001 fallopian nights. Fits to well. Weird.

OP posts:
Saladbomb · 01/08/2010 13:07

Ah, that what confused me as I would have assumed 1000 but had seen a few go over. Must be some elasticity so people don't lose their posts. Clever.

MountTheFairy · 01/08/2010 13:21

But then it still seems to be accepting . I stand by my theory that it is 1001 if there is no cluster posting.

I am going to move onto the Harem now.
