OK so who's still doing Christmas pyjamas tonight - 'cos I got this flipping tradition from MN years ago so hope I'm not the only one still doing it!

Ds's are both ridiculously excited that they're getting their Christmas pyjamas tonight. I remember thinking years ago it's a really cute tradition - now I just think blardy hell I've got to go and buy some sodding pyjamas for them! .

i do this too! had to rake in tesco's last night as i had forgotten about it! my dp thinks im slightly mad but its nice getting something small to open before bedtime!

DuffyMoon · 24/12/2009 11:57

I do it and my dd's are 11 & 14........ With funky bed socks too

thesockmonsterofdoom · 24/12/2009 11:58

i have bought them for us as well.

SecretSlattern · 24/12/2009 11:58

Me too! My parents always did it for us too so it's not really a new tradition for us.

mamakoukla · 24/12/2009 12:00

Me too! Started last year with DD... she loves her 'jamamas so it's fun to see her get excited.

dilbertina · 24/12/2009 12:01

I do it! dc get a parcel on christmas eve with new pyjamas, new underwear, and a Christmas book for bedtime. (and ds needed a new dressing gown so that's in there too). I then don't have to buy underwear again until next christmas, and it makes them a bit more eager to go to bed...at least that's the theory...

mazzystartled · 24/12/2009 12:03

we are only doing it tonight because ds saw some spiderman pjs in home bargains this morning - and at 2.99 i thought - ah well, why not?

i don't think tis going to be a tradition though

spookycharlotte121 · 24/12/2009 12:03

i stole this from mn too.... my dcs have new jim jams from my mum... theyre very cute and haave matching dressign gowns.
I havent wrapped any gifts yet.... and i have just realised we have no selotape. might get exp to drop some in this evening so the kids can at least have aa little bit of xmas. (I have pig flu btw.... not being lazy)

geordieminx · 24/12/2009 12:05

Yup new pj's here too.

As kids we always got a xmas eve present, which was usually a book, or something crafty to keep us occupied before bed.

Dh thinks it a ridiculous idea

beyondfurious · 24/12/2009 12:09

yep, dd has nice snowman ones plus matching 'sleep mask'

treacletart · 24/12/2009 12:14

us too

CherryChristmasEveryone · 24/12/2009 12:18

i have always done the pyjama thing, we used to get them as children, and now i do it for my kids. this year we have slipper socks too

MrsSantosnotSanta · 24/12/2009 12:21

Me too - only started last year but I think it is lovely

LittleWhiteWolf · 24/12/2009 12:21

We're starting this tradition this year with DDs first ever Christmas

Even before she was born and before we knew she was going to be a girl, my mum bought a set of sleepsuits which included one that is white with black paw prints all over it and I said "thats what our baby will wear on Xmas Eve night" So she will.

Course, sods law will dictate that she will either vomit, poo or wee (or all 3) all over it as soon as its on so we'll have to change her, but its a nice fun tradition!

Am also popping out today to buy a new duvet cover and sheets etc as I love sleeping in fresh new bedding so that will be the grown ups version!

FolornHope · 24/12/2009 12:21

what a pile of wank

Aubergines · 24/12/2009 12:22

My mum did this for me and I do it for the DDs. I love the look of them all clean in their new PJs and excited about the night ahead.

DottyDot · 24/12/2009 12:24

Yes, safe to say Forlorn the tradition didn't come from you..!

shinyshoes · 24/12/2009 12:33

we do this a xmas eve hamper with

New jammies
A mug of hot choclate and marshmallows
Home Alone 1 and 2 DVD
tube of Mars Planets

in a basket all wrapped in cellophane and because we aren't going anywhere today they have their jammies on now and are halfway thru Home Alone 2

DottyDot · 24/12/2009 12:35

ooh yes we've got a new Christmas Eve film to watch (Mrs Doubtfire) but haven't told ds's in case the gazillion children who are coming to make reindeer dust don't bugger off in time...

Yup! DS has some lovely new Thomas the Tank pyjamas to look forward to tonight.

I was going to say that FC had come early but don't want him to be confused...or want more presents!
