OK so who's still doing Christmas pyjamas tonight - 'cos I got this flipping tradition from MN years ago so hope I'm not the only one still doing it!

Ds's are both ridiculously excited that they're getting their Christmas pyjamas tonight. I remember thinking years ago it's a really cute tradition - now I just think blardy hell I've got to go and buy some sodding pyjamas for them! .

Isawlissiekissingsantaclaus · 24/12/2009 15:57

when i was little we used to get Pyjama's and a book from Jack Frost. we were told that Jack Frost was FC's prep-elf and he does a last minute check on Christmas eve, so FC knows which houses to go to the good kids get new pj's. we have carried this over to ds but added ice cubes to the parcel to make it more realistic.

juneybean · 24/12/2009 15:58

I usually get my PJs on christmas day but I'm going to open them today so I can wear them tonight, after my christmas bath of course!!!!

mistletoekisses · 24/12/2009 15:58

Yup - lovely reindeer ones for DS along with Xmas DVD, hot chocolate and a book.

Reindeer dust just been done before it got too dark and ridiculously cold. DS at 2.3 is getting it I think. Keeps talking about santa, reindeers anf toys.

Love it!

abdnhikinginawinterwonderland · 24/12/2009 16:06

my mum has mailed pjs for the boys to open and wear - she's in Canada and it's lovely that she's done this for them when they're so far away!

MmeherewegoawassailLindt · 24/12/2009 16:11

We are doing it. The Christkind (Germans equivalent of Santa will be bringing them shortly(

magnolia74 · 24/12/2009 16:14

We have been doing it for a few years now and the kids love it!

cece · 24/12/2009 16:23

We do it, but DD came home from school recently and said none of her friends gat PJ from santa. Why not mummy?

IneedacleanerIamalazyslattern · 24/12/2009 16:23

Yes we do it here too.
DD got her first newChristmas eve jammies at 12 weeks old and have done it ever since.
She is already carrying them around the house asking for a shower.
DS couldn't care less he is too busy disappearing under the tree at various intervals to squeeze the presents.

curlyredhead · 24/12/2009 16:27

We're doing it too - first time for us as well Three matching sets from boots in their 3-for-2.

wollysocks · 24/12/2009 16:28

this is my first year on MN. from what i can make out folks buy pj's for christmas eve and wear them. sounds nice idea to me. when you can go nowhere why not slip into pj's, nice and cosy and begin christmas with the children early, a christmas eve tea/supper, christmas story, tuck them up and enjoy a glass of your favourite... she writes with DD on my shoulders bouncing up and down.

Heqet · 24/12/2009 16:30

Oh, I always get the kids new pjs for christmas. Didn't realise it was an MN tradition .

Isawlissiekissingsantaclaus · 24/12/2009 16:51

well, we have just "found" ds's presents on the doorstep and he is thrilled with his £5 primark sleepover set and 68p copy of The Polar Express, lovely tradition extends Christmas that little bit ime v little extra work!

MarineIguana · 24/12/2009 17:21

Yep, new pjs on christmas eve (from us though not santa particularly) and I also usually get some new ones for myself too in the run-up to xmas. Never had this as a child but when I heard about it I wanted to do it for my DC.

Don't hold back forlorn!

Numberfour · 24/12/2009 17:35

what a lovely idea!! poor DS has been in tears on and off today because he wants to open his presents. so next year we will have Christmas pj's and a bed time story book to encourage the Going To Bed On The Night Before Christmas thing!

i will be lodging a formal complaint to MNHQ, though, for not informing me prior to 17h35 on Christmas Eve of this New Tradition of mine.

(good grief, all those capitals are annoying!)

sockmonkey · 24/12/2009 17:38

Yup, new PJs for the kids here. They don't know about them yet though. Spiderman ones.

Jbck · 24/12/2009 17:44

DD1 (8) is desperate for a bath to get her new jammies on. She keeps pestering me to see them.

cheekster · 24/12/2009 17:49

Yes, new PJ's for DS, they are lovely cuddly ones with an eskimo on the front.

EdwardCullenShallBeMine · 24/12/2009 18:31

Mine are already in theirs. DD1 (11) has been ridiculously excited about her PJ's all day, so I caved early.

cornysxmasmuffmusic · 24/12/2009 18:35

I am doing it this year. Ds1 was most chuffed to see he had new PJs earlier today.

CarrotForKing · 24/12/2009 18:37

I've just hemmed up dd's - not leaving it to the last minute or anything She just asked, 'what about our Christmas pyjamas?' - phew!

RustyBear · 24/12/2009 18:43

loudlass - la senza do size 6

Roxylox · 24/12/2009 18:44

New jim jams, slippers, some sweeties and a book - for everyone!! Even me! Yay!!

LaTurkey · 24/12/2009 19:04

We had to do ours yesterday as DD vomited over all her old ones - one at a time. They're still going strong though. She's very excited because they have a pattern and Hello Kitty and all her old ones are plain!

InThisSequinBraYesYouOlaJordan · 24/12/2009 19:33

Yes, Errol the Elf has delivered pjs here - DS2 hasn't had his on though as he has been sick hope it's a one off...

Also the Merry Madagascar DVD that we all enjoyed watching earlier!

It's a really nice tradition
