OK so who's still doing Christmas pyjamas tonight - 'cos I got this flipping tradition from MN years ago so hope I'm not the only one still doing it!

Ds's are both ridiculously excited that they're getting their Christmas pyjamas tonight. I remember thinking years ago it's a really cute tradition - now I just think blardy hell I've got to go and buy some sodding pyjamas for them! .

Well I had never done this before but Dh got the most gorgeous traditional pjs for DS from John Lewis - they are the same as James' in The Snowman and DS looked gorgeous!!! I didn't make too much fuss as he had fallen asleep on the way home from my sisters so was rather grumpy unfortunately but he is only 2 so next year be a bit more meaningful I imagine! Cute all the same.

dd all tucked up in Hello Kitty nightie, pressie from us.. My mum always did it for my litle brother, and my brother and I have carried it on .... niece and nephew now 19 and 17! Little brother not with us any more, but I am sure he will be looking down and happy tradition is carried on.

Thank you Rustybear. Maybe I will try in advance, and get some in the January sales. . Might need to put them somewhere very sensible though, or I'll never find them next year!!!

jabberwocky · 25/12/2009 03:03

We started this a couple of years ago after I read it on MN. Nice tradition

ApplesinmyPocket · 25/12/2009 07:32

Got the idea from MN too - grown up DDs delighted last night to get those gorgeous La Senza pyjamas (the ones that were on a special offer - two pairs for £20 - lovely pyjamas, another MN tip-off!) One in gingerbread men and one in reindeer.

Myself I will be sporting a £2 pair of Rudolphs I got in the Tesco sale for silly money last January and put aside. Can always get great Christmas clothes bargains in Jan - cards and paper too usually.

All dcs get pyjamas from the Christmas Pyjama Fairy with a little note about how she's sprinkled them with dust to help everyone sleep. This year she bought all but the baby slippers and dd a dressing gown, much needed!!

nappyaddict · 26/12/2009 00:19

I told DS I buy new PJs for him but I send them off to Santa so he can sprinkle magic dust on them to help him sleep and so Santa knows when he is asleep.

Does Santa get Mummy and Daddy new nightwear as well or just the DC in your house?

nappyaddict · 26/12/2009 00:22

Butterball What items go in your hamper and do you wrap them up individually or do you just wrap the hamper?

Bleatblurt · 26/12/2009 00:53

Nappyaddict, it was mainly stuff I'd have put in their stockings.

PJ's
Santa mugs
hot choc
marshmallows
maltesers
jelly sweety thingies
popcorn
Santa plates
DVD
Christmas book
new toothbrushes
Rudolph socks
Santa/Rudolph soap
bubble bath
colouring books and crayons
cookie mix to make Santa some biccies
carrot for Rudolph

and err... stuff wot I cannot remember!

I didn't wrap any of it but I got a cardboard box with a lid and covered it with Christmas paper, a ribbon and big bow. It actually looked great!

My 5 year old has been telling everyone he meets all about it.

nappyaddict · 26/12/2009 01:18

That sounds a lot like DS' box.

I got a big silver gift box thing and filled it with:

Blanket
Christmas hot water bottle
PJs
Dressing gown
Slippers
Slipper socks
Face cloth
Wash mitt
Towel
Toothpaste
Toothbrush
Xmas soap
Xmas bubble bath
Toy for bath
Xmas DVD
Xmas CD to listen to whilst making jam tarts
Xmas book
Xmas mug
Little cuddly santa and reindeer that came with the mugs originally
Bar of chocolate for making real hot chocolate
Baileys for the adult's hot chocolate
Bag of popcorn
Bag of marshmallows
Reindeer food and carrot
Plate for Santa's jam tart
Jam for making jam tarts
Santa's little helper cooking apron
Torch (for sprinkling reindeer food)

Some things were wrapped but only cos originally I was going to put them in the stocking. We started doing it last year - when did you start?

MsDoctor · 26/12/2009 08:13

The pyjama fairy buys for Mummy andDaddy when she can afford it!

Sassybeast · 26/12/2009 15:25

We have Christmas PJ's here - it's one of the traditions from my childhood and means Christmas has really begun I also now have Christmas pjs after re watching the video of DDs first Christmas morning and realising I was wearing a Transvision Vamp T shirt circa 1989 and a pair of old trakkies circa 1984. I CRINGE when that video comes out, but love the newxt years when I'm all togged uo in plae pink brushed cotton with mathing socks

tassisssss · 26/12/2009 15:37

We often do new pyjamas but this year lovely friend bought new ones for the kids and told me in advance in case I wanted hers to be the one present they opened on Christmas Eve. They were very excited!
