OK so who's still doing Christmas pyjamas tonight - 'cos I got this flipping tradition from MN years ago so hope I'm not the only one still doing it!

Ds's are both ridiculously excited that they're getting their Christmas pyjamas tonight. I remember thinking years ago it's a really cute tradition - now I just think blardy hell I've got to go and buy some sodding pyjamas for them! .

I am doing them, infact I have even bought my sister, who is staying with us this Christmas, new pyjamas to open tonight.

God I am mad - I used to be wild and fun you know.

Reindeer dust?

My parents' incontinent cat once shat right next to the Letter my dad had carefully written from Santa thanking us for the mince pie and carrots.

They blamed Rudolph.

I don't do this but might start as it seems to make FH unseasonably narky

Granny23 · 24/12/2009 13:41

We got new pyjamas or nighties for Christmas Eve, which we then wore for present opening on Christmas morning. Of course I did the same for my DDs when they were little and just carried on - they still get them, now + the 3 DGC and the 2 sons-out-law. This year my 'baby' and her 'baby' are off to spend Christmas 6 hours drive away with her partner's family. This is the first time ever I will not see all my chicks on Christmas day (boo hoo) but at least I can picture them all snuggly warm together as the new pyjamas are away down the motorway with them.

CardyMow · 24/12/2009 13:54

I've always done this?? And they HAVE to be traditional 'old style' pyjamas, which primark happen to do a very nice (cheap) line in. Don't know what I'm going to do next year with DD though, she's in the 13-14 in primark, and they're getting a bit small...Can you get traditional PJ's in a ladies size 6? (advance help needed for next year!!).

sleepysox · 24/12/2009 13:55

What a lovely idea. I think I'll start this next year . I already read Ds 'The Night Before Christams' poem and next year he can wear his new jim jams while we read it.

Moijaimelachristmaspudding · 24/12/2009 13:57

New nightware here too. It's not something we've done before on christmas eve but as my Mum has bought all 3 of them new Pj's/nighties they may as well have them this evening to open and wear them to bed tonight.

Will also save the fight at bedtime to put the girls "princess" nighties in the wash, you'd think the world had ended, which they are always very compliant with.. as they will have new ones.

PheasantPlucker · 24/12/2009 14:03

Yep, red ones with white spots for both dds.

Bleatblurt · 24/12/2009 14:25

We do this. Mine go theirs in their Christmas Eve hamper about half an hour ago. It's a big box of goodies that was left in the garden (in the snow, next to their snowman) all wrapped up with a bow and a letter saying it was from their brother. (my DS2 was stillborn) They were ridiculously excited.

TulipsAndTinsel · 24/12/2009 14:29

pj's, selection boxes and a small present each here.

it's an irish thing afaik as we've always done it as has almost everyone i know here.

NoelRocks · 24/12/2009 14:30

Yes, I started this last year after reading about it on MN!! DS, DH and I all get a lovely new pair! A lovely excuse for new PJs for me out of the Christmas budget!!

3frenchhens · 24/12/2009 14:40

I love this! I will definitely be borrowing the hamper idea for next year. I have my xmas pj's bit small im afraid on my pg tum currently. Infact I am still in my pj's and its coming up for 3pm... I just do not care! It's Christmas

mixedmamameansbusiness · 24/12/2009 14:52

I got this from MN last year and I know DS1 is going to go absolutely nuts when he sees his glow in the dark Ben 10 pjs. He nearly ent flying over ice in the market when he saw Ben 10 pjs earlier.

Also baked cookies which are a new tradition this year and DS1 and DS2 "helped".

MrsMattie · 24/12/2009 14:55

Yep, we've done it since we were kids. I even got myself some this year (usually just for kids). DH laughed in my face - he doesn't 'do' PJs (real man etc etc).

Got some lovely ones from Mothercare for DD and M&S for DS. Mine are..um...a little racy . DH will like 'em, put it that way.

cyteen · 24/12/2009 14:57

I would be most impressed to see someone shitting icing sugar footprints, tbf.

We should be doing new PJs as mine are revolting and DS's legs are bowing in his sleepsuits, but slackness prevailed and we will be starting Christmas in our usual food-stained glory
