How am I going to tell her Dad!

My teenager has just announced that she is pregnant. How could this happen? We are a religious family and her father is going to hit the roof. She is a very good girl and we go to temple every week. She seems very content and happy to tell me she is due in three weeks time. She thinks its a blessing but only waited until now to tell me. It's amazing she hasn't shown until now. I'm a wreck how can we tell him this news?

Maybe ask the local carpenter to marry her? Then send them off on a trip.

Tell them they should book a hotel in advance though!

StAnne · 03/12/2009 11:26

Now you know that's not a bad idea. If I get some solutions on the table before he gets in from work it might calm him down.

I can't take this seriously.

LadyGlenChristmasPresent · 03/12/2009 11:27

Perhaps she should go away to have the baby. Look around for a nice steady young man for her to marry, perhaps someone with a trade, who will raise your grandchild as his own. I guarantee once your husband sees the baby, he will realise what a godgiven gift he is.

Buda · 03/12/2009 11:27

I think that's the whole idea Fab!

FabIsVeryHappy · 03/12/2009 11:28

Oh right.

Better effort needed then.

She should go and visit her cousin for a while

StAnne · 03/12/2009 11:34

Do any of you have any suggestions for us?
(O! Fab I'm doing this while doing some housework. I was hoping some talented comedy writers would get on-line and make me laugh!)

I'm going to town now with the donkey to do some shopping and cheer my self up with a coffee and some friends. Hope they haven't heard about it yet!

Don't wear the donkey out, he needs all his energy to carry his precious load

ChloeHandbag · 03/12/2009 11:40

Hmm, but don't forget they're doing a census so if she gets together with a man in trade she may have to travel to his hometown soon. I believe everywhere's getting booked up.

Merrylegs · 03/12/2009 11:42

Tell your DH it was an immaculate conception. Being a religious man, he won't be able to object to that. (I know I know, it sounds far fetched, but try it. Some men will believe anything).

ChloeHandbag · 03/12/2009 11:47

Actually I know someone who might like to meet her, he's a nice guy called Brian - although his mother says he's a very naughty boy.

titchy · 03/12/2009 11:49

Has she been having those angel hallucinations again? Can I suggest trying to get her an appointment with CAMHS as they could indicate a very serious mental illness. Does she have delusions of grandeur also?

titchy · 03/12/2009 11:51

But Chloe isn't Brian half Italian? I'm not aure a religiuos family would approve of her marrying outside the religion?

Now Woderick might be a good choice?

Francagoestohollywood · 03/12/2009 11:56

Immaculate conception? Who'd believe that ?

differentID · 03/12/2009 11:58

I think the carpenter would be a good choice for her. It's a good steady trade, This lad I'm thinking of- he's doing quite well for himself I believe and rumour has it he's a sucker fro a pretty girl. He's one of those responsible lads- will raise her baby as if it were his own. He might have to travel a bit at first, but your dd and the baby can enjoy traveling around the middle east, surely?

Oooh! I know a carpenter!
He told me last week that some bloke had visited him in the night and told him that he was going to marry a girl who was pregnant with someone else's baby, but that he would take the child on because that would be doing the right thing by God.

He's religious, too, so he's quite willing to go ahead and get a young girl out of trouble.
shall i send you his details?

Francagoestohollywood · 03/12/2009 12:05

Not only it's a steady trade, but we know how difficult it is to find a good carpenter nowadays!
How would she feel to travel all the way to Egypt?

StAnne · 03/12/2009 12:06

Well had to come back early from the shops. Everyone else knew about it except me. Oh! The shame I have to think of my lovely daughter and whats best for her
titchy I think you are right he has that big Roman nose. He also hangs out with that gang, what is it? The Peoples Front of Judean or something. I don't think he is suitable for my lass.
differentID What's the lads name?
Must go and unload the donkey
put shopping away
go by the river and wash some clothes.
Speak to the school about taking her out for a while.
I'll take DD down to the river with me and we will have a chat and think over some ideas you lot have given us.

lol @ Brian!!

BalloonSlayer · 03/12/2009 12:07

Just make sure they bring him up properly.

Or he might turn out the gobby sort that goes missing and after they finally find him after frantically looking for him high and low for hours would say something like: "well of course I was here, where did you expect?"

differentID · 03/12/2009 12:08

Jehoshaphat?

Jeroboam? no....

JOSEPH!
