How am I going to tell her Dad!

My teenager has just announced that she is pregnant. How could this happen? We are a religious family and her father is going to hit the roof. She is a very good girl and we go to temple every week. She seems very content and happy to tell me she is due in three weeks time. She thinks its a blessing but only waited until now to tell me. It's amazing she hasn't shown until now. I'm a wreck how can we tell him this news?

Ops! forgot to name changeSt Anne.

nickelbabe · 04/12/2009 10:55

Excellent!
I did wonder why Joseph was chosen. Now it all makes sense!

Good, a nice approved-by-the-family marriage with a good Jewish man.

see, it's all working out! I knew you didn't have to worry!

and i'm sure last night there was a new really bright star in the eastern sky.

StAnne · 04/12/2009 11:04

Yes, I saw that too (and a lovely bright moon in RL this morning)
So have to clean the hold house today going to go on the 'FLy' thread and get some motivation from those lovely ladies.
I'll try and get DD to cook so Joseph takes a shine to here. I'm going to e-mail him now and find out what his Fav foods are.

To all in the Judea area (is the Judea Tsarina around anywhere?)
Am a junior research assistant in astronomy at UCB (University of Chaldeans, Babylon) and I keep getting this rogue blip in my stats moving towards your region. Looks like a supernova or something? Has anyone noticed anything out of the ordinary in the night sky?
My supervisor is thinking of going on a field jaunt with a couple of colleagues to see where it leads but I keep telling him the political situation is a bit dodgy down there atm with that Herod bloke in charge, and they might get themselves into trouble. After all, the astronomy charts they can draw up these days are amazing, why move from the desk? What are things like on the ground?

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 04/12/2009 11:12

Jessia, if you go make sure you take some Myrrh (sp?) You never know who you may bump into

Francagoestohollywood · 04/12/2009 11:14

Oh Herod. Lots of nasty gossips about him in Bethlehem.

nickelbabe · 04/12/2009 11:15

oooh, Jessia! BythePowerofGreyskull has a brilliant point, you're a wisse person: if you want to track the "blip" you should take two friends from your university and try to track it down!
it should take you about 5 weeks on foot, I should think: you'd be there by abotu the 6th January!

how exciting!
and obviously you'll be wanting to pick up the usual touristy bits on the way, bit of frankencense and godl as well as the myrrh!

nickelbabe · 04/12/2009 11:16

I should imagine, though that you'll need to go to Herod when you get into the country. Ask his advice, you know?

Francagoestohollywood · 04/12/2009 11:21

I'm told that he is a very irascible man

StAnne · 04/12/2009 11:22

jessia Oh It's lovely to hear from wise women. You've made me That's what I wanted for my DD a university education. I'm sorry can't carrying on as I'm crying

OP posts:
jessia · 04/12/2009 11:31

Greyskull: Me...? I wish! No, it's my boss who's going. ALways hogs the honours. But I say to him, Melchoir, don't do it, that Herod is not to be messed with. But he's got a new camel and he and his two mates (we call them the Three Wise Men - hahaha) are desperate to go on some "finding themselves" trip. Looks like midlife crisis to me. And my blip stats have just fallen into their lap - the perfect excuse.

St Anne, it's not all gold, frankinsence and myrrh here, you know. Junior researchers' salaries are just crap. And the glass ceiling... Don't get me started.

StAnne · 04/12/2009 11:43

Men! Typical we do all the thinking they get the lime light. DNA discovery prime example.
Well Joesph emailed me back and has attached a picture of himself. Well ladies he looks a bit like Brad Pitt so suddenly DD very keen and doesn't care about the age difference.
Still if I want them to marry it will have to be in another State! Any suggestions?

jessia, don't tell me he has bought one of those racing camels... doesn't he know they arent good over long distances??

ChloeHandbag · 04/12/2009 13:45

My friends dh works in the Judea area, he's a shepheard so around at night I'll ask him to keep a look out for strange blip. Friend says that he and his colleagues just sit around though.

StAnne · 04/12/2009 14:58

jessia They get like that at their age. We have problems like that around here in an area called Box Hill, Born Again Camel Riders. Romans are constantly giving them tickets. DH doesn't like the Romans. But it used to be worse before the Romans it wasn't safe to go out, also the sanitation wasn't good,we have clean water now and free education but really what have the Roman given to us.

OP posts:
titchy · 04/12/2009 16:23

One thing you can say about the Romans though - they are all individuals.

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 04/12/2009 17:00

I'm not titchy

nickelbabe · 04/12/2009 17:03

Chloe: it might be an idea to get your shephred friend to visit DD and Joseph when the baby's born too, if they're in the area. save StAnne worrying too much.

swanriver · 04/12/2009 17:05

not individual or not titchy, or not itchy or not Roman?

StAnne · 04/12/2009 17:24

Well I'm all for my grandson being an individual but I hope he's not a naughty boy.
Must dash DH will be home soon and will expect his feet to be wiped!

OP posts:
ButterySpud · 04/12/2009 17:41

IABU to nag Dh to come in from his shed? All he does is gaze into the sky and talk about how fabulous some blimmin star is...and how he may have to go off on a jolly journey with his mates to view it better.

I said to him "Balzy, if you do that don't expect me to be here when you get back. Honestly - i'm off to my mums, Queen or not!"

StAnne · 05/12/2009 11:23

ButterySpud Men! They do try your patience but I'm sure while he's away you'll have less washing and polishing those long gowns must be a mare to wash.
Well, I've just come back from the market very upset I don't know what to do now. I need some advice. I normally enjoy going to the market bit of haggling and chat. But my friends were all gossiping. An apparent friend told me that the only reason Joseph is marrying DD is because he is a Jaffa. His previous girlfriend left him because she wanted kids. I told a whoppa of a white lie and said that Joseph was the father of DD's child. I feel so guilty now I don't think I can show my face in town again.

OP posts:
nickelbabe · 05/12/2009 11:25

I wouldn't worry about it: he's a decent enough man to ride over the gossip and tell everyoen the child is his.
he knows how special it'll be when it arrives.

StAnne · 05/12/2009 11:44

Thank you nickelbabe I'll keep that in mind. I'm going to have a sit down with a coffee and 'Heat' magazine to cheer me up. I hear that the daughter of the Queen of Sheba is having an affair. Like Mother then.
ButterySpud If your DH buys a racing camel like jessia boss I would go nuts. Keep an eye on your joint account you know how lavish men get when they have a mid-life crisis.
