So what did everyone have in their advent calendars today then?

I had a toy aeroplane in mine, and ds had a fireplace in his (ones with just a picture). Ds also has a Playmobil police one - he had a robber in that today.

As usual ds and I are having our advent calendar competition with our picture advent calendars. We have gueesed what will be in the windows each day. We get 2 points for the correct item on the correct day, and 1 point for an item that we guessed but on the wrong day.

So far it's SoMuch - 0 points, ds - 0 points!

Sorry, that should have been my Mum, not my Mu

StAnne · 14/12/2009 10:57

We have two days worth. A church & the holy family on one. Teacher cuddling a crying angel and two pipers. Must decorate tree today too!

SnowMuchToBits · 14/12/2009 21:57

Today we had a trumpet and drum (me) and a sleigh with presents on (ds)

The Playmo calendar had a black cat. The scene now looks like this:-

Outside the police station there is a lampost with a mugshot of the robber attached. Meanwhile the robber is making a getaway on the bike, with a case in one hand. The other case has been abandoned outside the house. Just behind the robber, there is a police man popping up from inside a wheelie bin, armed with a truncheon, gun, radio, handcuffs, grappling hook and a dog on a lead. The cat is trotting along next to the police dog......

How did your gingerbread house turn out StAnne?

jemart · 14/12/2009 22:01

A Cannon. With amunition! it fires too!!

We have a playmobil pirates calendar, it's fab.

SnowMuchToBits · 14/12/2009 22:03

Playmobil is really good, isn't it? I shall be so upset when ds grows out of it!

jemart · 14/12/2009 22:04

hmmm...... come on and fess up all those who feel compelled to nicely arrange their dc's playmobil calendar scenes?
I do this almost everyday

SnowMuchToBits · 14/12/2009 22:10

I don't feel the need to rearrange mine - but only because ds does such a good job of it himself

OhBuggerandArse · 14/12/2009 22:11

We got what looked like a very charming traditional calendar. German, a big house with snow and a Christmas tree and lots of happy bears living in it.

Is the most joyless Advent calendar you've ever seen in your life - exhibit 1)3rd Dec: the door was the cupboard under the stairs. What was in it? Brooms, a mop & bucket, and a dustpan and brush. Exhibit 2) 9th Dec: the door was another cupboard containing some coats hanging up and some shoes. Exh. 3)10th Dec: Door is a changing mat in the bathroom which you open to find a baby bear getting its nappy changed. Today's offering was the oven door; inside were a few biscuits of an indeterminately festive nature.

Whatever happened to fairies and presents and general sparkle? Or is this an old Eastern bloc design to remind us all of the properly utilitarian spirit in which to approach the corrupting festive season?

SnowMuchToBits · 14/12/2009 22:11

I mean, I woud never have thought to put the policeman in the wheelie bin.....

SnowMuchToBits · 14/12/2009 22:13

lol BuggerandArse, my advent calendar is a bit like that - nice picture on the front, but dreary illustrations - and hopeless for our advent calendar competition! My sister sent it to me, so I have complained to her about the standard of the illustrations! (Don't worry, she takes it all in good part). She said next year I can buy my own lol!

MollieO · 14/12/2009 22:30

Our robber has fallen was knocked? off his bike. The policeman is lying under the lampost in what looks like a drunken repose. The dog is no longer a police dog. The cat is wearing the dog's police coat. The bin is stored neatly under a window. The grappling hook and rope is hanging out of an upstairs window just out of reach of the fallen (slain?) robber. His suitcase of money lies abandoned nearby. No murder weapon gun has been found.

SnowMuchToBits · 15/12/2009 21:37

Today I had a toy train and ds had a decoration (one more point to ds).

In the Playmo calendar were three mice and a bird (some sort of Corvid I think).

The robber is now attempting to make a getaway on the bike while clutching a case, but has been thwarted by the police man (still popping up out of the wheelie bin and armed with truncheon, handcuffs etc) who has used the grappling hook to hook onto the pedal of the bike. The dog is still accompanying the police man, while the cat is chasing the mice. The corvid is observing from the sidelines.

Mil makes my two advent calendars with various items in them - we oen the non edible one after breakfast which results in an argument as they want to open it before - today was a lipstick type thing for dd age 7 which we argued about whether or not i let her wear it for brownie party or not and ds got some squirty hand grenade toy which resulted in a tantrum as he wanted to open tomorows as he could see a very sharp plane wing hanging otu of its pocket and eh also wanted to open the days after as it has a sock clearly stikng out of it and it wil match the odd sock he got yesterday arghhhhhhhhh! - im sure most items are definitly unsafe. Then they argued at tea time as the chocolate one she also got them i make them wait till after tea so they both had a melt down as i made them wait for that too - id rather go without than have the hassle

nappyzonecantrunfortoffee · 15/12/2009 21:51

Wow reading all this thread i really need to investigate a playmobil calendar - do i really though as im fecking sick of advent calendars and their pieces of tat [baaa humbug]

MollieO · 15/12/2009 21:56

Are they mice or are they rats SnowMuch? I couldn't work it out.

Everyone is lying down. The bird is on its back. Almost as if they have been gassed. Mice are foraging around the bin and seem to be completely unaffected. The cat is lying behind the bin oblivious of the nearby mice.

The gun lies abandoned in the middle of the road.

I can highly recommend the police Playmobil calendar. Not at all festive but is fab at getting ds out of bed in the morning - he can't wait to open the next date.

belgo · 16/12/2009 07:45

it will be the police calender for us for next year!

We have loads of those little playmobil rats/mice because we visited a toy museum with a huge playmobil display, including a little machine making the mice and we could take as many as we wanted.

We got a baby badger today, very cute, I think it's the reason why I bought the calender!

SnowMuchToBits · 16/12/2009 16:42

Today a had a teddy bear (a point for me at last!) and ds had a kite.

In the police calendar was another policeman. I'm not sure whether they are supposed to mice or rats actually! I suppose they are quite big....

belgo · 17/12/2009 12:49

Well done!

No idea what's in mine today, forgot to get the girls to open the box before school.

Shall I peek?

StAnne · 17/12/2009 12:52

Had to do two days in a row. A camel & a book?! The other Mary and a flying angel.
Not long now folks.

Iklboodolphtherednosereindeer · 17/12/2009 12:53

I don't know. I would have to open the dog to find out

StAnne · 17/12/2009 21:00

...

SnowMuchToBits · 17/12/2009 22:59

Well, today we had - a bouncing ball (me) and a Christmas tree (ds) so 1 more point to ds

In the Playmo calendar we had a gun, a policeman's hat and a radio.

MollieO · 17/12/2009 23:05

The gun and radio have gone elsewhere so just the policeman's hat.

Startingly developments have occurred - possible earthquake. Lampost is now in the middle of the road. No signs of life at all, the new policeman is lying face down next to the road.

cruelladepoppins · 17/12/2009 23:05

A lovely dolly. DS's are unimpressed.

cruelladepoppins · 17/12/2009 23:07

Oh, and at OhBug's German advent calendar!
