Have Yourself a Very Merry Little Christmas and Santa Claus is coming to Town by Bruce Springstein

hollyhobbie · 01/12/2009 13:27

Have yourself a merry little Christmas and Winter Wonderland.

stellamel · 01/12/2009 13:32

I love that Greg lake one, I believe in Father Christmas, even tho it's cynical and not exactly festive in the right sense! . Also love a bit of White Christmas Bing style, and When a child is born - Johnny Mathis . Oh and that Frankie Goes to hollywood one, the power of love. Oh and Christmas (w)rapping by the waitresses. Oh and Nat 'King' Cole - The Christmas song. Oh and I rather shamefully like Mariah Carey doing All I want for Christmas is you

God I could go on, so will leave now and quickly!

JaceyBee · 01/12/2009 13:33

The one by The Pretenders - 2000 miles.

Also Fairytale of NY is brilliant.

nickytwotimes · 01/12/2009 13:43

I am ashamed to admit that I really like 'All I want for CHristmas' by Mariah Carey. I hate her stuff, but love that for some reason.

notnowbernard · 01/12/2009 13:46

Fairytale of New York for me too

ChristmasMoon · 01/12/2009 13:48

Let it Snow by Dean Martin

MarthaFarquhar · 01/12/2009 13:51

it's a toss-up between Bach's Weihnachtsoratorium and Wham's Last Christmas

MuppetsMuggle · 01/12/2009 13:53

I love:

Ring out the solstice bells - Jethro Tull
Saviours Day, Mistletoe & Wine, Millenium prayer - Cliff richard
Spaceman came travelling - chris de burgh
Peace on earth/little drummer boy - bing crosby & david bowie
merry christmas everyone - shakin stevens
walking in the air - aled jones
in dulci jubilo - mike oldfield
stop the cavalry - can't think who sings it.

Pinner35 · 01/12/2009 13:56

Oh nickytwotimes, so glad it's not just me. Can't stand that woman and her bloody warbling but do actually love that song.. Heard it on the radio this morning and it made me feel all festive!

Bettymum · 01/12/2009 14:35

Ooh, I love lots of these! Can't decide between Last Christmas, Driving Home for Christmas and Don't Stop the Cavalry (Jonah Louie or something like that). I also love Santa Claus is Coming to Town.
How about Little Drummer Boy - lots of versions- I really like the Aled Jones and Terry Wogan one .
Talking of young Aled, Walking in the Air, ahh lovely.
An interesting "alternative" number is Don't Kill Me Santa by the Killers.

jessia · 01/12/2009 14:37

Nother vote for Fairytale of NY here

jooseyfruit · 01/12/2009 14:41

Iknowitisshallow · 01/12/2009 14:46

Band Aid-Do They know it's Christmas

and

Marys Boy Child by Boney M-LOVE that.

I also like the Mariah Carey one.

Stilla · 01/12/2009 14:46

Another fan of 'All I want for CHristmas' by Mariah Carey (even though I can't stand anything else she has done)

Also love 'Great big sled' and 'Don't shoot me Santa' by The Killers

flimflammum · 01/12/2009 14:54

What was that one by the Darkness? That was good. 'Don't let the bells end'

bluesatinsash · 01/12/2009 15:10

'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' by either Judy Garland or Frank Sinatra

'Spaceman Came Travelling' CDB

'Last Christmas' Wham!

'I Believe in Father Christmas' Greg Lake

but way out ahead is:

'When a Child is Born' by Johnny Mathis. Very very poignant for me as I had a 2nd mc on 22nd December last year and am due DC2 on 18th December this year. Just have to hear the opening line and I'm bawling like a baby..
