I get the ‘But what can I get/cash is easier’ starting point - it could have been really funny and helpful. But this just feels like it was made by a committee of people who think all grandparents are out-of-touch cold fish in vast houses, and all spirited children bounce on sofas and make a mess while hapless parents look on shrugging.

The kind of people who only know the chorus of Rolling Stones classics, and don’t bother to check out the less than festive verses.

I'm not sure who they are aiming at here. It's supposed to be encouraging people to buy gifts rather than give cash, but granny hasn't bought gifts as such, she's just done up a room. I'm sure she spent a fortune on it but still, it's a make-over, not a gift. And I don't buy the kids loving it- they would still be furious about the lack of cash, the brats!

It's prompted me to avoid JL

I think they are having a pop at Amazon too. Who if not cash, vouchers will be purchase.
Which I suspect many Grans are told especially teenagers would prefer to have when asked.

I loved getting cash as a child and used to go into the banks for the free piggy banks they gave away to save up the coins!
The government do not like children having cash now.
It’s all bank transfers!

Agree its is done by kids who just left uni and are very woke and do not understand real life

It’s very realistic that gc look for cash in a card!

John Lewis directly easing their fingers into wealthy grandparent's wallets!

I can't stand these ads usually for their oversentimentality but this one I do feel is being honest! And therefore, I like it!

Love her house, too.
