I like the sentiment but not their best.

FredaFox · Today 06:22

I think the kids are awful, it’s a no from me

trossardmartinelli · Today 06:23

It's dull and didn't make me emotional at all.

BlossomLeaves · Today 06:27

I really like it. More subtle than some previous years and love the sentiment. Some personal nostalgia for the dog toy also helps!

MyballsareSandy2015 · Today 06:28

I’d be embarrassed if those kids were mine … too big to be charging about bored, they aren’t toddlers. And then holding the card up, looking for money 😳

Voltorb · Today 06:38

I kept waiting for something heartwarming to happen and then the ad ended.

It didn't make me feel Christmassy and to be honest if they were my kids they wouldn't be getting any presents they were so rude.

Lilypad34 · Today 06:43

What is going on with JL?! I think they must have some young people in their marketing department because nostalgia isn’t a thing anymore. Just awful parenting and spoiled kids. It’s a no from me.

stripeymonster · Today 06:43

I'm not even sure what she did get them from John Lewis?! Maybe that's not the point. Patronising to older folks? Did like the dog though, cosy house and at least it was different I guess.

Sartre · Today 06:50

That’s awful. Basically the grandchildren are absolute brats, they completely disrespect their grandmother and their mother just shrugs her shoulders and blames grandma. Grandma then goes to the ends of the earth to buy shit to make them love her. Even the fact they shake the card expecting money is shocking. Awful ad.

sandgrown · Today 06:50

Bet Fisher Price are happy . My adult children had that dog . Not the best JL advert .

DollopOfFun · Today 06:52

Just found it a bit confusing tbh.

Kristin Scott Thomas's skin looks lovely though, if they sell whatever she's using in JL I'll buy that.

Sirzy · Today 06:58

All I got was disinterested Nan who thought she could buy their love and spoilt children. Very disappointed.

ThePelican · Today 06:59

The best John Lewis advert was the 'Always a woman' one in 2010. Not Christmas, but really memorable.

Botheredbewildered26 · Today 07:06

Posh grandma in huge house. Appallingly behaved children. Stupid talking dog. Wet parents. Disco gran. What a waste of the luminous Kristen Scott Thomas!

SoftandQuiet · Today 07:06

Thanks for sharing, OP. Kind of cosy...but what did she get them? A record player? A playroom so they don't trash the house? And what was with the pink tuktuk- thought it was father Christmas for a moment.
All in all, not bad.

DollopOfFun · Today 07:07

My fave was the 2011 one, The Long Wait ❤

Whinge · Today 07:08

It was shit.

The pink tuktuk dragged Granny to JL so she could buy her spoilt grandchildren’s affection.

FlamingoQueen · Today 07:11

I love Pickles, but can’t stand the kids that arrive at Grandma’s house and jump all over her furniture, trash her study (parents don’t say anything) and the only thing to do with JL is when you see the name on the floor - could be any shop.
I like the sentiment, but the bratty kids ruin it! She still could have done something fun for well behaved children.

ExtraOnions · Today 07:11

Improved after Gramdma left those shitty badly behaved kids behind and went on a shopping trip. Ending would be much improved if it was Grandma surrounded by lovely things she had bought herself from John Lewis, with the kids locked outside in the cold.

Agree its is done by kids who just left uni and are very woke and do not understand real life

BirdsSinginInTheSycamoreTrees · Today 07:12

Bit strange really, not very Christmassy despite the setting or heart-warming. Awful children.

KST looks lovely, but then she always does.

Meredusoleil · Today 07:13

The little boy playing Freddie is Jordan in Eastenders!

UncompromisingCat · Today 07:14

Bloody hell... what a feel-bad advert... It's like they asked AI 'what does Christmas mean to you?' and it scraped all the replies saying 'It's just consumerism now, over-indulged kids who behave badly and get spoiled anyway by family trying to buy their love...'.

Would love this! 😁
