If I were Kristin Scott Thomas I’d be wafting around my gorgeous house in a selection of tasteful scarves and telling my ungrateful brat grandchildren I’d sponsored a donkey in their names

Growlybear83 · Today 08:07

I don’t like it at all - I don’t find anything appealing in using those horrendous rude and spoiled brats.

Dolphinnoises · Today 08:08

I take from that that it’s mainly older women shopping in JL, which might be broadly correct but there are a lot of us whose kids are younger and we’ve just been told our children are awful which isn’t the best way to build a long-term relationship.

Odd she was slighted by them running for the loo after a long journey.

Additionally, given the kids are probably in a house a quarter the size of grandma’s pile, I’m wondering how they’ll get their massive disco tent home

SliceOfMammasPeachPie · Today 08:11

And what about her breaking something in an independent shop and then just running off.

Or the fact the kids only like her because she spent money

The music was clunky, I didn't like it at all

Improved after Gramdma left those shitty badly behaved kids behind and went on a shopping trip. Ending would be much improved if it was Grandma surrounded by lovely things she had bought herself from John Lewis, with the kids locked outside in the cold.

Haha this would have been epic!!

The Bear and the Hare was their best....

Rfriendselectric · Today 08:16

AndAllOurYesterdays · Today 07:27

I didn't like that at all. The worst thing about it is the pink autorick ride- my kids are always asking to go on one and I say every time that they are expensive and dangerous and now JL are presenting them as 'fun'!

Needed Nessa in the driving seat, asking Grandma “what’s occurin” and then taking her down the Dolphin for a proper Christmas singalong! Last scene, Grandma remotely switching heating off and family at home shivering in John Lewis hats and coats!

FlyByYear · Today 08:18

It's crap.

the80sweregreat · Today 08:19

It is rubbish. I like the Sam fender song , but that’s it.

Kristin Scott Thomas: National Treasure? I find it difficult to believe

The Bear and the Hare was their best....

Ah no, the learning to skateboard one was a masterpiece

Toomuchturron · Today 08:21

Oh I really hated it and I usually love them. Ungrateful bratty children. Wet lettuce parents. KST having to play a doddery old granny who can’t cope in a shop. Awful bantersaurus dog voice. And what happened at the end- she made a Christmassy room? There’s no way those horrible kids would have been happy with that.

Still, hats off to the MNer who thought this advert featured a grandparent sitting around to be waited on-no projection happening there 😂

On the plus side, KST looked great.

I'd forgotten about that one! I'm going to go and watch it now to reset my brain after that Disco Granny shite.

Clafoutie · Today 08:23

It had just two things I like, Kristin Scott Thomas and that dog. But the music was awful and I didn’t understand anything else. Guess I’m old.

NewGoldFox · Today 08:23

I get the vibe which is even when the worst things happen (spoilt children, card shaking - cringe!) keep on trying to make a connection which ultimately was with a festive disco dance party.
It didn’t warm my cockles though.

What? First desk has got grand children?

It would have been improved by a reveal that Jackson Lamb was driving the TukTuk!

topcat2014 · Today 08:26

JL adverts are supposed to make you cry like the skateboarding foster parent one. I thought that was the rule

Jackson Lamb is driving the tuktuk.
He gives her a wink.
We see the house blow up.
Cut to KST in the pub having a mulled wine and quietly smiling to herself.

The Bear and the Hare was their best....

dd2 was only 3 when ths came out -she's 16 now. She still talks about it.

We do have a 'Chris- Mouse' toy that was sold off the back of the 2008 ad (Heads)- the song was from 'Me to You'-,
We've still got the Mouse- sits on dd1's desk.

edit - age

sueelleker · Today 08:32

And what does "lets go on a montage" mean?

Wheniswinenight · Today 08:36

It’s awful. Dreadful, entitled & badly behaved children. Pathetic parents. Not Christmassy at all. But I couldn’t get the video to play so I googled it and one came up on YouTube. Maybe it was one that didn’t make the cut. A woman on her own with a teddy she got when she was a child. Sam Clegg song. It was so sad..😢

Yourchildrenwillbegiants · Today 08:38

Maybe I’m just jealous but I was irritated by how rich the granny was. And she was just buying the spoilt kids’ love - what a horrible message. There was no warmth in this at all and it was quite boring too.

dcadmamagain · Today 08:40

So what’s the message? - reward bad behaviour?
awful just awful

Newusername0 · Today 08:41

I actually really liked it. It didn’t try to make me cry, it was colourful and had a touch of magic. It felt Christmassy!

TheOGCCL · Today 08:42

MyballsareSandy2015 · Today 06:28

I’d be embarrassed if those kids were mine … too big to be charging about bored, they aren’t toddlers. And then holding the card up, looking for money 😳

Yes how is this a lovely sentiment?
