I had a moment this morning when Mum said she’d thrown out a load of perfectly good Christmas wrapping paper she’d found when preparing to decorate. Felt like sacrilege. Sadly it rained overnight so beyond rescue. Have now ordered half a dozen rolls to stock up my own (hoard) supplies!

She threw it away? I hope it wasn’t your very best paper.

That has been addressed in the thread, with a screenshot of how to do it. Think it was 2 days ago?

It is also in the photo section you can scroll through at the very top.

Yes I've tried the most recent instructions. There us no additional settings on the app on my phone

Why not log in via your browser then? Surely you use the internet on your phone?

Nobody wants to think about Christmas at the start of spring..

Wrong. The Christmas board is clearly not for you.

BeckyAMumsnet · 14/03/2026 17:16

Quick note from MNHQ - this is the Christmas board, so enthusiasm for Christmas isn’t generally considered a medical condition here. If festive anticipation isn’t your thing, that’s fine, but please don’t derail the thread.

@SnowFrogJelly Please read this.

And just hide the Christmas section if you find it so offensive.

Rose785 · 18/03/2026 10:54

@mumofoneAloneandwell where did you want to take your DD? we will also arrange a visit to family which is 3/4 hour drive so stay over night although this year I might do it in Nov as I felt it makes Dec too busy!
What would you like your Xmas cooking to be? I host Christmas but last year my husband was ill so hosting, cooking with a toddler was too much just for me alone so this year we all agreed to go out for dinner, so looking forward to it being more chilled meaning I might have more time to make crafting gifts bits with my DD.
What is it you want in your kitchen to look like for the ultimate baking experience?!

Just a reminder that you can hide entire topics here: https://www.mumsnet.com/settings/hidden-threads (And also unhide them in time for Christmas if you wish).

We understand that Christmas is not everyone's favourite topic of conversation in March, which is why it has its own section on the boards. We think everyone has had their say now, regardless, so we'd ask that we let this thread get back on track now for the OP and those who enjoy Christmas all year round. Thanks.

@Rose785 I might make some of the salt dough biscuits this year.

Christmas cooking = with appropriate music always!

NoWordForFluffy · 18/03/2026 14:07

I'm going to make my mincemeat over Easter. It's so much nicer when it's had time to sit for a while!

Will you be tempted to use any? Or it’ll be saved for Christmas?

Rose785 · 18/03/2026 14:31

@NoWordForFluffy thats such a good idea! I didn't even think of this early prep needed!
I have already started my budget for Christmas, we tend to spend quite a lot on gifts and xmas outings so I start saving for it now so I can enjoy xmas guilt and debt free. I have also started selling a few toys and clothes on vinted that can be added to the xmas fund.

Saved for Christmas. We still have loads of frozen mince pies, so no need to break into the new new batch!

Rose785 · 20/03/2026 13:14

I have very fond memories of my Grandma reading me 'Twas the night before Christmas' I wanted to buy my daughter this as a keep sake to get out each year to read on the run up to Christmas but I couldn't find one I liked. I happened to come across it at the checkout area at Smyths store reduced section. The most beautiful pop up version (same story/words) and it came to the grand total of £2!!! So was thrilled with my purchase and have added it to my Xmas stash for later this year!

I am sorry, I didnt see this ❤️

I reckon i'll do a turkey this year with the trimmings

My dd is autistic so doesn't eat christmas dinner, she'll have chips

I want a new kitchen 😤 so I am saving hard - dunno if it'll happen but I would love a big cooker

A restaurant sounds lovely 😍 why not have a restful christmas!

I love the Christmas topic.
Im actually looking at gifts to buy now, and thinking of wrapping them (I always say im
going to start early every year, so I can enjoy the season but I never do. So this year could be the year)

am I BU?

well brace yourself for the onslaught !
It seems to make people irrationally angry to discuss christmas even in the christmas topic.
But I am with you. I finished the last of the christmas cake yesterday and I am already looking forward to the end of june when the longest day means we are on the downhill slope and I start to plan and prep.
Anyway off to find my hard hat after that admission !

Omgg can't wait for the longest day 😄

I think my favourite day is September 1st - when the countdown begins properly

I managed to secure tickets for Lapland UK and I am so happy I got them! I love the magic of Christmas!
I too have started a sinking fund for Christmas and a list for presents and if I spot any of them on sale I will get them now and hide them!
