I've got Christmas Puddings and DD has a couple of bottles of Alperol .

Yesterday I said I had a Christmas pudding left.

Apologies, I lied about that.

Because…..I found another FOUR!

Plus two jars of mincemeat!

I’m going to finish it all before December, then start again.

sanityisamyth · 14/03/2026 19:54

Christmas is the last thing on my mind. The days are finally starting to get longer, the skies are blue and there’s some warmth in the air. I bloody hate Christmas and every single thing associated with it. I’m not wishing the spring and summer away.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 14/03/2026 19:54

@NoCommentingFromNowOn this thread has been mad!! Who would've thought people liking christmas posting in a safe place would elicit so much hate!?!

I reckon they're jealous of seeing people enjoy things!

❤️❤️

I need to check out this christmas fridge thread 👀👀

@TightlyLacedCorset is that fabric suitable for sewing a top? I fancy a tasteful Christmas top.

The Christmas fridge threads are so good. They do them on Reddit too.

Oh yes the Christmas Fridge Threads can get very heated Xmas Shock
"Read the Room, there's a CoL Crisis "
"How much food do you need for three days"?
"You;re going to have so much waste "

I haven't proffered a photo of mine , it is a bit old and scruffy and boring even at Christmas .

I haven;t watched Serendipity but I searched down the Rabbit Hole and saw Kate Bekinsdale was in "The Only Living Boy in New York" the title intrigued me ,,,,,,Callum Turner . My DD might want to watch this .(The film is 2017 )

I don't have a problem with people enjoying anything, if that's what tickles their fancy. But i don't understand how someone can say they "made it" to the 14 March as if they've just survived a world war, so now all they are focusing on is Christmas, which is more than 9 months away!

TightlyLacedCorset · 14/03/2026 16:47

Do you quilt OP?

If not, and you have certified Christmas addiction, I highly, HIGHLY (did I say highly?) recommend you take up quilting as a hobby!

You start making Christmas quilts as early as you like but one of the main themes is "Christmas in July" that's when all the main fabric suppliers start doing Christmas themed fabric lines and there are videos and blogs galore on Christmas quilts and other associated craft making and getting a start on 'Christmas in July' it's a nice way of getting immersed in Christmas...without the 🤨🧐 judgement

Do you have any recommendations for blogs etc? I’m not sure I’d want a quilt, but I’m definitely up for doing a different Christmas craft, something like table mats? Or Christmas knitting? Does such a thing even exist?!

I find it very odd that a psychologist who works in mental health would use the words "this strange breed of person" and "it's good to see all sorts"

andthat · 15/03/2026 09:50

@Iloveluna the Christmas section is a warm, supportive section of mumsnet. lots of reasons someone would be reading/contributing to it in March.

it’s not for you.. totally fine… but you don’t need to insult people who enjoy the space just because you don’t. You can simply scroll on by…

You’re accusing @mumofoneAloneandwell of not being ok for doomscrolling.. and yet here you are.

To be fair this came up in actives for me, I don’t follow the Christmas topic either and I agree it’s a bit odd to someone who isn’t a Christmas fanatic!

It came up in Active for me too, but there's nothing stopping anyone actually looking to see which topic it has been posted in. Lots of topics don't interest me, so I just don't click on those threads.

This one I was just being nosy as thinking about Christmas at this time of year doesn't float my boat. But this is a board for those for whom it does, so to make rude comments is just showing posters up for the type of people they are.

Scottishdreams · 15/03/2026 10:14

I really don’t understand the negative responses to the OP. Some people (myself included) are sensitive to the different seasons. I struggle with the light and warmth of the summer. I love the coolness and dark and twinkly lights of the autumn and winter and function much better at that time of year so naturally start to feel a little anxious around now but will make the most of it. I have seen countless countdown to summer posts that started after the winter solstice but wouldn’t dream of commenting negatively on them. People just prefer different seasons and celebrations.

BatchCookBabe · 13/03/2026 21:50

Well said. 😘

Then stay OFF of the CHRISTMAS BOARD.

there are plenty of other places to post.

Whether it's in Active or not is irrelevant. It's in the CHRISTMAS topic

Don't open topics that don't interest you to berate people for whom the topic is there for. So rude.

She didn't ask for your opinion, she was sharing with others in the Christmas topic!

Whosthetabbynow · 15/03/2026 11:36

I have a good life with everything I need. I’m very lucky. That doesn’t stop me yearning for September, Halloween, November and Christmas. It’s my favourite time of the year and has always been. I love the atmosphere and the nostalgia. I like how people become that little bit kinder to each other. The months will pass at the same speed whether I wish them away or not. There’s nothing any of us can do about the passage of time xx

Why did you open a Christmas thread? I wouldn’t open a thread on horses because I have no interest in them. Or gardening.

Firstbornunicorn · 15/03/2026 17:12

I'm the same, OP. I just love Christmas 🤷🏻‍♀️

SevenYellowHammers · 15/03/2026 17:26

OP, you’re completely right of course. I would recommend going full-on Easter whist you wait. I am churchy and the church year goes fast; we’re only fleetingly in ordinary time, it’s soon lent, Easter, and so on and before you know it advent.

You don't actually have the absolute right to come and shit on threads you aren't keen on. There are talk guidelines.

Go and spread your misery elsewhere. The Christmas board isn't for such things.

I've been lightly thinking about Christmas for a few weeks @mumofoneAloneandwell. Just lightly, not full blown Christmassing.

My main thought has been:

I love the run up to Christmas, the carol concerts, cooking, crafting, decorating and hosting.

But Christmas Day always ends up too busy (we alternate between hosting my parents and DH's), I didn't even sit down except to eat last year.

So this year, well do the usual pre-Christmas hosting (my family (15), his family (20), my cousins). But will have Christmas Day just DH, DD, and me.

Then we can sit and watch TV, play games, eat exactly what we want (I'm not a fan of roasts), and be all jolly and festive without infernal jobs to do.

Yes, I'm already excited. And I'm wishing stupid summer away, and I dont even feel bad about it 😂

Other people don't know your history.

I'm sorry you're suffering, but I would suggest that with your history, hiding the Christmas board would really be the best thing to do. It's not for others to modify their posting to accommodate you, I'm afraid.

Not possible on the app. Usually I do navigate triggers successfully.
