I once got my arse handed to me because I dared to have the audacity to mention that tickets for Lapland UK were on sale ( it was around this time of year ) , y'know just in case someone wanted to get ahead and book something .
There was a load of "OMG it's bloody MARCH " and "Well I won't waste my money on this " or "what's wrong with taking them to the local park"

Well, I don't have any affiliation with Lapland UK , my DC are adults so I don't go there , and I am not holding a gun to anyone's head am I?
You can all just wait and try to buy a ticket in December then . ( Clue : you won't )

FWIW , I don't click on anything to do with Traitors, Strictly , The Handmaids Tale or schools . But I don't pile on and whinge on the threads either . !

No I definitely haven't followed it. I get lots of topics in my Active list, like DIY, and i definitely haven't followed that either!

If not, and you have certified Christmas addiction, I highly, HIGHLY (did I say highly?) recommend you take up quilting as a hobby!

You start making Christmas quilts as early as you like but one of the main themes is "Christmas in July" that's when all the main fabric suppliers start doing Christmas themed fabric lines and there are videos and blogs galore on Christmas quilts and other associated craft making and getting a start on 'Christmas in July' it's a nice way of getting immersed in Christmas...without the 🤨🧐 judgement

QVC used to do Christmas in July back in the day ( they still do but it isn't as good ) it's a USA based firm so I guess it comes over from there .

I don't want a mad rush and exhaust myself .
I sometimes see things through the year that I buy .
I write ideas in my Christmas Notebook .

I'm not wishing my life away , I know how precious life is . I just want to enjoy what I enjoy .

I suggest maybe some posters don't join The Christmas Fridge threads , they;d combust .

Well apparently you’re not allowed to, until some specific date (which is not March 14th).

Yes I've checked. I'm following just 4 topics and none are Christmas. In my Active list I even see threads on Elderly Parents which is probably the last topic that would ever be relevant to me!

Quick note from MNHQ - this is the Christmas board, so enthusiasm for Christmas isn’t generally considered a medical condition here. If festive anticipation isn’t your thing, that’s fine, but please don’t derail the thread.

People are having trouble and are insisting ‘everything comes up in active’ despite me giving them screenshots. Could you hold their hands and help them please? It’s obviously not them being too lazy to check. Oh no.

And I’m curious why OP was suspended as I read her posts and they don’t replies, both the patronising ones and the dismissive ones are much worse.

And I reported a post this morning, can you tell me why it’s still up as I have clear reasons as to why it’s should be deleted (according to your own criteria)?

I’ve read the first couple of pages and I have nothing to add except I’m also not following the Christmas topic yet it came up on my ‘active’. Never been in the Christmas topic before. It sounds like some people are saying by default you follow everything and have to actively unfollow topics you’re not interested but that seems odd to me.

look at the first screen shot, press the bit at the bottom and it will take you to the second screenshot.

Unfollow a thread and you will not see it in active.

That’s not unfollowing a topic that’s hiding it. Two different things. To not follow a topic is passive, you may not know it even exists until a thread is getting a lot of traffic and shows in the active feed. To hide it means you have actively decided that you don’t want to see it.

I don’t even need to hide the Christmas topic I just found the conversation interesting as it suggested that all topics are followed by default which would be strange for a forum.

Even if you disagree, which lots will, theres a way to do so without being horrible, and then reporting me for bantering in response 😒

I've still got chocolates, a stash of booze, cheese and cake left from the last one!

I've got Christmas Puddings and DD has a couple of bottles of Alperol .

We have cheese left, as I bought about 400 tonnes of it!
