@Yuasa Christmas doesn’t bother me to the extent I’d take the trouble to hide the topic

But many people here are bothered by it, and aren’t shy to tell us, and don’t have much to say other than BUT IT’S IN ACTIVE.

Yes it is in Active (for some) but that’s only because they have chosen to follow it. So unless they scroll past, or hide it (I offered to show someone) then what do you want us to say?

I think there’s nothing more boring than fish. Fish tanks, fishing, different fish, fish food, BORING BORING BORING. So I thought hmm can I hide this section? Turns out I can. Problem solved. I wouldn’t click on a fish thread to bitch at everyone.

And, we like Christmas, that’s why we follow the Christmas topic all the time. And we’re commenting on things that interest us. As you do on a forum!

Yeah honestly. Its fine, I just wanna leave it now.

What did they say? I’d be extremely peed off with that. Was it a specific comment? Or the existence of this thread at all? I wouldn’t be leaving it there to be honest.

I think the point is that they didn’t find the thread title boring, though. I’m not interested in Christmas in March and if I see a thread title about Christmas shopping or saving I’ll skip it without a second thought. I was intrigued about ‘yearning’ for it in March, however, and here I am!

It’s really simple.

People have chosen to follow the Christmas section in March. They then come on this thread and complain about people writing about Christmas in March. There is a solution. They are actively choosing not to use that solution.

Winteriscoming80 · 14/03/2026 14:51

The op has put a post in the Christmas section so why comment?!

Because it’s a comment forum. I like to talk about Christmas. At Christmas. When it pops up in March - and someone says they’ve been ‘doomscrolling Xmas tik toks all day’ then I may choose to comment. Which I have. It’s not a ‘you must be 100% positive about Christmas at all times section.’

Iloveluna · 14/03/2026 15:45

NoCommentingFromNowOn · 14/03/2026 14:51

Wait - what? You were suspended for having a Christmas thread in the Christmas section? Why? None of your posts are rude unlike some.

You can’t see the rude ones - they’re deleted!

No-one’s complaining. A fair few are just saying we find it really odd behaviour. To be yearning for Xmas in March. I don’t find that boring. The opposite really as it’s really weird!

BaublesAndGlitter · 14/03/2026 15:54

I never understand these arguments. A lot of the areas on mn are contentious but there a few boards that are generally known as gentle, friendly etc and the Christmas board is one of them.

Also, for all the posters making the shitty “why are you wishing your life away” comments, you do realise you can both enjoy your life as it is at the same time as wanting it to be the right time for a particular celebration don’t you?
I love Christmas, I plan parts of it throughout the year. Doesn’t mean I don’t also enjoy spring, summer and autumn.

The spirit of the thread was clearly meant to invite like minded people. OP didn’t ask anyone if they thought she was doing something strange or invite opinions about her yearning for Christmas at all. Posters who came on just to tell her it’s odd etc were just being snarky for no reason.

As for you OP, I’m sorry the thread has been derailed. I usually get a random wave of festive feeling around now but it hasn’t come around this year - although this may be related to having a 4yo who has been singing Christmas songs and asking to watch the snowman repeatedly since December Xmas Grin
I’d say indulge away - the world isn’t an overly happy place right now so if this helps you, go for it!

But you do know that it's quite rude to call somebody weird, right? There's no need to come into a thread to say stuff like that really. Just leave it. Saying somebody is weird isn't a debate, it's a low level personal attack.

It’s nice that you still follow this section in March though!

#Christmas lovers in March Unite.

I'm definitely not following it. It came up in Active along with many other topics I don't follow

You don't have to click on the threads in active. You can even hide boards if you're bothered by them! Or just individual threads as you browse active.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 14/03/2026 14:52

But for people who maybe don't have a lovely summer holiday to look forward to, or who are just getting through life without a lot of lovely treats to anticipate, at least there's Christmas! Having something to look forward to, however far in advance it might be, can make life look a little brighter.

I have a holiday. In August. I'm not looking forward to it as its still 5 months away.

I didn’t call the poster weird. I said yearning for Christmas in March to the point you’re spending all day doomscrolling TikTok’s is weird to me. Clear difference.

But anyway, I don’t think weird is an insult anyway. Weird people are the best ones.

I don’t mean to sound…whatever…, but have you checked? It literally says ‘unfollow these sections so you don’t see them in Active’.

Again, I am happy to talk anyone through it, I can do it on mobile (phone or iPad).

Good for you. I can't have a holiday this year. My life is looking pretty dull for the whole year - so I reserve the right to look forward to Christmas.

But I'm sure we can agree to differ.

NoCommentingFromNowOn · 14/03/2026 16:06

People can look forward to whatever they want, whenever they want.

Don't piss on their chips if you’ve done nothing to avoid seeing it.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 14/03/2026 14:48

I've left this thread as I'm peed off that i was suspended over defending myself. Honestly its just a harmless thread about how much I enjoy that time of year.

Don’t let a few twats chase you off your own thread OP…..that you posted in the correct section!

And there we go. Looking forward to Christmas in March is a symptom of feeling you’ve nothing else to look forward to. Hence my first post! It can help to work through how to find the joy in little things every day and live in the moment more. It took this long a thread for some to understand!

NoCommentingFromNowOn · 14/03/2026 16:12

@BiscoffCheesecakes here are two screenshots showing that if you go to the trouble of a couple of clicks you can hide this topic until whenever you want.

Bless you for not thinking I have one single other thing to look forward to! I said my life is dull, not completely moribund.

286 days to go (and yes , I am counting )
We have booked our Traditional Pre-Christmas Trip ( weekend city break)

I have perfected the Cinnamon Buns recipe and have a batch in the freezer for this week .

er, you said it yourself. ‘My life is looking pretty dull for the whole year, so I reserve the right to look forward to Christmas.’ I didn’t extrapolate inferred intention, you literally said it!

Who are you to tell someone what they’re allowed to look forward to and how to live?

I hope you’re here winding people up because it’s too sad to think you’re a professional person. Did you say you’re a psychotherapist? Or similar?
