I have a large family so Christmas always exists in the back of my mind. I love seeing something that will be just perfect as a present for someone - and I'm doing that all year round to spread the cost! So I don't see anything wrong with a bit of Christmas nostalgia/longing (there must be a word that mixes the two emotions), because I basically need to be preparing for 11 months out of 12.

Exactly how I feel. Would be happy to go from Sept to Feb and back round again 😄
I also love it when the solstice is here. And from the big 6 week summer hol you can feel autumn gradually approaching once again.

I don’t personally get it, or really get anyone who wishes time away like the summer haters or winter haters. Always looking for the next thing. The secret to contentment is finding happiness in every season, the positive side to everything.

BUT whatever makes you happy! Life is short so enjoy what you want to enjoy if it’s not harming anyone. We need to find whatever joy we can in the world.

You do know you're not compelled to click on threads in active which don't interest you? I don't go shitting all over the private school threads which pop up in there which hold no interest for me (and I've not got round to hiding in my settings yet).

I am a huge lover of spring and summer and a winter hater. That does not stop me loving the whole atmosphere of the lead up to Christmas! So I am looking forward to the whole 'cosy, in front of the fire with a big blanket, wrapping presents', but I'm not wishing away the summer - I'm anticipating the fun to come.

Bloody hell, I can't imagine living for the next Christmas. I live day to day and find joy in the little things every day. Imagine looking forward to something over 9 months away! What a way to wish your life away

I've left this thread as I'm peed off that i was suspended over defending myself. Honestly its just a harmless thread about how much I enjoy that time of year.

Completely get how the site works, but Christmas doesn’t bother me to the extent I’d take the trouble to hide the topic. Assume it’s the same for most - so we’re seeing this in Active, some are finding it a bit odd and commenting. As you do on a forum.

But for people who maybe don't have a lovely summer holiday to look forward to, or who are just getting through life without a lot of lovely treats to anticipate, at least there's Christmas! Having something to look forward to, however far in advance it might be, can make life look a little brighter.
