Just to go back to my comment about Fahlo - excellent customer service and they have added a new turtle to my account as the other stopped tracking.

Lakeland vouchers for August if anyone has a big purchase - can be used online with an account (you have to be logged in) - have to have the actual barcode if in store (& probably also an account)

Not Christmas related but if you shop with Tesco, check your coupons in the app. I had a coupon for a free pizza!

My Yorkshire trading parcel arrived and I'm really pleased. The Galt sets are massive! Thanks for the recommendation.

I ordered the science set too. Just a little concerned it may be a bit young for my almost 10 year old grandson. What do you think?

Theimpossiblegirl · 19/07/2026 12:41

I think open it and check the accessories are an ok size, I've purchased for a six year old and 9 year old. I teach Y4 and I know they'd love it.

My DD is nearly 10 and we have opening it and been doing the experiments. She thinks it’s great!

Oh that's good to hear. I'm keeping it until Christmas so haven't actually opened it, just read the box.
Can I ask, is the lab coat plastic?

No it’s cloth - I can check the fabric when I get home if you like?

Oh yes please if you don't mind.

Beach coasters ordered - thanks for the info @Fortheloveofpenguins I got them for me 😹 but added a reduced priced reindeer felting kit as a Xmas present.

Tip: The coasters and reindeer are sold out online but are available for C&C from stores that still have stock.

It’s 100% polyester, washable at 30c but can’t be tumble dried.

No discounts but if anyone is buying for a Gilmore Girls fan they have some things in Home Bargains at the moment: fuzzy pyjamas, a blanket, a notebook, a candle in a Luke’s cup, a cushion shaped like a Luke’s cup and a coffee set with a travel cup and syrup. I didn’t check the prices for all of it but I bought the candle which was £2.99 and the notebook which was £1.49.

watchuswreckthemic · 19/07/2026 20:34

Cranium in store for £4.99 at home bargains

I think it works for that age. Could gift with the books if he is a reader - also a great price atm!

Great idea - thanks

Thanks @Sideorderofchips
This truly is the best part of Mumsnet.

If you're lucky enough to be going abroad, I always look out for alcohol gifts in duty free. I got a lovely whisky for £27 that retails at £58. I price check as I shop, not everything is a bargain.
