Twinnings Tea have Mother's Day tea selection gift boxes reduced from £16 to £5. There is a sleeve around the boxes saying 'Happy Mother's Day' but this slides off without damaging the box, (think the sleeves they put on the boxes in Hotel Chocolate - works the same way.)
There are also some other bargains including Christmas tins,

That is a great bargain @Toooldforlonghair . Thank you!

@MamaK19
Heroes of goo jitsu minecraft edition. Enderman is half price at £8, and is buy 2 get 1 free. Would work out as £5.33 each. They are quite big too, and usually around £14 each individually.

Not a bargain as such, but I think these Bluey and Paddington soft cushion chairs in Aldi are adorable: £24.99 each.

I particularly like Paddington’s marmalade sandwich pocket!

This is not remotely christmassy bur does anyone have any advice on electric toothbrushes or good offers? My Oral B one has died so in need of a new one.

MerylSqueak · 28/03/2026 10:28

I'm not impressed with my Oral B Io that I got for Christmas. I'm not sure why but it constantly has toothpaste streaming down it when I brush. It's the one that's always on offer for about £40. Don't get that one!

I love my iO and my dentist likes hers, too.

Consider your toothpaste, though. I’m almost at the end of a tube of Colgate sensitive, and I’ll be glad when it’s finished because I have toothpaste and dribble escaping from my mouth when I use it. It doesn’t happen at all with other brands, though. I’ve occasionally swopped to another brand for a day or so to test it and the toothpaste stays where it should.

I appreciate that I could just throw the Colgate away, but I’m too much of a saver (money and the planet) to do that. Also, it tastes good and it’s effective for reducing my tooth sensitivity, so I just wipe it off my face afterwards.

TheWeeDonkeyFella · 28/03/2026 13:24

Nice bargain jigsaw for maybe stockings or Christmas Eve box for 99p in Home Bargains. The boxes themselves are sturdy with cord hanging/carry strap.

I can’t really advise as I don’t know which I have. It has Bluetooth and can, apparently, monitor which teeth you’re cleaning and for how long but I don’t bother with that.

When you stop brushing it shows a reaction - a smiley face if you’ve done the full 2 minutes, with stars for eyes if you’ve done it well. That’s probably if you’ve brushed everywhere with the right pressure. I am very surprised, but it does. keep me brushing. If you stop sooner you get a different face, but if you then switch it on again and finish the rest of the 2 minutes it remembers the earlier time and smiles.

It sounds daft, but it works for me so I’d get a model which does that. There’s an area on the handset which changes colour if you’re brushing too hard, but you’d have to stand in front of a mirror to see that.

edited to add: I’ve looked at the website, but can’t tell which is my model. I know it came in black, white and amethyst, and I bought the amethyst one. Stock up on brush heads when they are on the £10 Tuesday offer at Boots.

Hi all,

Looking for something Julia Donaldson themed for a 3 year old's birthday. I've already bought the Melissa & Doug stackables suggested upthread- thanks- but wanted something little to go with it. Up to £10. It's my great nephew.

Thanks!

These cute gruffalo jigsaws went down well for my son's 3rd birthday.

Both Sainsbury’s and Tesco have had some clothes with Julia Donaldson book pictures and quotes on them

There's 20% off all Tu clothing at Sainsbury's at the moment too.

Puffalicious · 28/03/2026 23:13

Thank you so much for the suggestions. I've ordered a set of 2 tshirts from Sainsbury's. The jigsaw also looks good for future reference.

Whilst looking I found some super character onesies in Asda. I've ordered Room on the Broom, but there's loads of others for £5-7 instead of £13+. Great to put away for Christmas.

Poonu · 29/03/2026 22:11

I need to buy ten boxes of chocolates or gifts for a family event. I wish I'd been quicker I would have got the twinings tea if anyone sees anything quality on offer please let me know. Thank you

IlovePond · 30/03/2026 10:52

@Poonu - these are short-dated but look good:

https://twinings.co.uk/products/short-dated-superblends-collection-gift-box-20-envelopes?

Best before June 26 but would be ok for a while afterwards.

I guess it depends on how soon your event is and whether people would be miffed at a short date.

Short Dated Superblends Collection Gift Box - 20 Envelopes
