I drove home from family this morning. 3hrs. Then did the food shop. Home at 4. I had every intention of starting to wrap, but have drank half a bottle of sherry and watched two Christmas films instead 😆

I only have 22 pressies to wrap!

This is me minus the sherry 🤣🤦‍♀️

kenadams5 · 23/12/2025 21:50

I outsourced our wrapping this year. 4DC and I don’t know why we’ve only just done it. Best £20 I’ve spent

Outsourced? Never heard of such a thing! Sounds magical ☺️

GIFT BAGS!!! That is what you need OP. Plonk the gift in, a bit of tape at the top to stop if gaping and done! I have some that have been reused year after year within the family.

suburberphobe · 23/12/2025 21:52

I'm not wrapping because I'm no longer buying Christmas tat for people any more.

Most houses are heaving with stuff. I'm decluttering, an ongoing project.

CharlotteCChapel · 23/12/2025 21:53

I have wrecked my nails, due to a serious illness, and can't do sellotape. DH is having his presets unwrapped in a Christmas sack, and he's going to wrap DS's and mine.

Loungingbutnotforlong · 23/12/2025 21:53

Ha! That is me apart from I haven’t done my wrapping yet or bought my Christmas food! Yikes! Slightly stressed so DH suggested opening the Baileys.

IndigoIsMyFavouriteColour · 23/12/2025 21:54

We do all the wrapping on Christmas Eve, it’s a tradition to get the kids to bed early and just wrap everything and leave it by the tree.

PickledElectricity · 23/12/2025 21:54

I'm shocked that you didn't wrap while drinking and watching films! I used to love to do that!

Sounds like an excellent evening OP, you can wrap tomorrow, or Christmas morning, or if it comes to it, not at all.

Obviously I haven't finished shopping..

Deafnotdumb · 23/12/2025 21:57

Thanks guys. I'm ahead on the wrapping and behind on the drinking.
I've taken a leaf out of the japenese book this year and bagged or wrapped up presents in fabric. It's pretty, reusable and easy to do. I keep the amazon gift bags or picked up scarfs from charity shops.

Not started yet.

I looked at the pile.

The pile looked at me.

I gave up and had some wine.

Will probably try again in the morning.

RescueMeFromThisSilliness · 23/12/2025 22:00

I have just finished mine. It is truly a Christmas miracle this year, and I can't quite believe it is all done.

<gives self pat on back>

TheNightingalesStarling · 23/12/2025 22:01

Including stocking presents, I have wrapped approximately 80 items. But everything is wrapped.

Same. Except my narcissistic mother (who moved in with me ‘temporarily’ last year) has been wrapping presents in her room for what feels like weeks. Fingers crossed she’s bought them for herself because I’m a minimalist who’s spent close to ten years getting rid of the bulk of my possessions. Christmas excess makes me feel ill.

cinnamongirl123 · 23/12/2025 22:07

This is me now….I need to start asap 😫 There’s no way I can face doing it tomorrow! Plus we’re out tomorrow aft and evening

Sunshineo · 23/12/2025 22:09

@Deafnotdumb what book?

cinnamongirl123 · 23/12/2025 22:09

Quick question about gift bags - how do you label who it’s to and from? Assuming the original tag is long gone 😫

Sunshineo · 23/12/2025 22:10

We haven’t bought much. Less to wrap 😉

Hankunamatata · 23/12/2025 22:12

Poundstretchers gift bag with tie tops. You can tie gift tags (brought separately) straight onto the ribbons

mondaytosunday · 23/12/2025 22:13

i remember staying up till 3am wrapping one year after my DH passed away. Now my kids are 20 and 22 they don’t get many - about 6-7 each so not much wrapping to do!

Great idea!… not sure what my teens would think of that though. Maybe in a few years!
