I drove home from family this morning. 3hrs. Then did the food shop. Home at 4. I had every intention of starting to wrap, but have drank half a bottle of sherry and watched two Christmas films instead 😆

I only have 22 pressies to wrap!

you sound like me! I do best when my back is against the wall! If I buy too early I get the twitch. Last minute serves me well 😂
Im glad some one gets it!
Ive always been like this and its have tried to change but it always goes wrong!
Dh has done the food shopping and organised his presents.

I’ve tried to change too and it has never worked. So last minute it is. On the plus side I scrubbed my kitchen this evening 😂

Quick question about gift bags - how do you label who it’s to and from? Assuming the original tag is long gone 😫

Wee pack of sticky labels. We all use them in my family and just stick them on top until the gift bag gives up 😆
We seriously get years out of them! Can't remember last one I actually bought.

soupyspoon · 23/12/2025 23:05

Sherry is mandatory when wrapping and they get progressively more 'bomb squad' like as time goes on
This year however I succumbed to gift bags and just shoved stuff in bags and was done, Magic

I will do this again next year.

WimbyAce · 23/12/2025 23:07

Whispers.....we are actually all done for once! This has never happened in the 10 years that we have had children so I am a bit suspicious and will await some kind of catastrophe tomorrow 😶‍🌫️

IsadoraBathrobe · 23/12/2025 23:13

ADHDer here. Same as every year, have bought random stuff in a panicky rush. Presents not evenly spread between all the DCs. Will have to head out again first thing tomorrow to plug the gaps. Will be up all night Christmas Eve wrapping. House is a cluttered mess despite vowing that in 2025 I would turn it into a minimalist paradise. DH in bed with flu for 3rd Christmas in a row. Fuck my life 🤣 (but we do have food 🥳)

Globules · 23/12/2025 23:18

I've got this to look forward to tomorrow 🫤

I've been avoiding for weeks. Time has run out.

You are not alone! I am you (minus the dh) but we all know it will be fine come Christmas morning! I am leaning into who I am rather than trying to change myself. Not had one child disappointed on Christmas Day yet 🤞🏼
Told my ds (15) that this year is a tight Christmas for various reasons and he responded ‘mum, I know how privileged I am and I don’t need anything’ He literally has 3 presents to open totalling £50 and he knows that is far more than others get. That’s Christmas!

Giraffe007 · 23/12/2025 23:24

Finished mine yesterday. I'm always terrified I will get ill before Christmas and it won't get done!

Whichone2024 · 23/12/2025 23:25

What I like to do is start drinking while I am wrapping, then the next day is hilarious that you can tell which ones I wrapped sober and which ones I wrapped after having a few too many. It just amuses me soooo much 😂

Your DS sounds lovely! My DCs are also very appreciative of anything they get (even the random stuff) but I’d just like to be a bit less stressed. Maybe next year 🤞

Tissue paper and gift bag. Sorted.

MaybeItsTimeForMeNow · 23/12/2025 23:36

Im done but can't work out how to get the presents downstairs tomorrow unnoticed. Theyre under our ottoman bed. 3 kids 8 5 and 3 in a small house, and 2 of the kids are very light sleepers. Nowhere else to hide anything. How the hell do I get them downstairs??

DH took kids to the cinema this morning and I had a very civilised session of wrapping at the dining table - so much better than hiding away to do it as usual! Its only stuff for kids though as we’ve already exchanged presents with my side of the family and DH buys for his side (well, he’s still got most to buy but that’s what Christmas Eve is for, he tells me). And DH and I have bought house stuff jointly this year so not getting presents for each other (I hope he sticks to this or it’s going to be embarrassing!)

Ha ha me too! Somehow them being so appreciative and telling me it’s all good stresses me out even more because I want to reward them for having no demands or expectations by getting them more 🤦🏽‍♀️ And this is why I shop at the last minute so I don’t go over the top 🙈😂

silkyfilament · 23/12/2025 23:49

I’m fucking pissed off. I’ve spent roughly 12 hours wrapping over four days for our family of 7. The last gift to wrap was to me from DH. I asked him if he would prefer to wrap it and he looked at ne like I’d lost my mind.
So I wrote a gushing declaration of his love for me on the label and thanked me for wrapping it. I know it’ll cause some laughs on Christmas Day…,but come the fuck on! It’s not like he bought me a Chanel bag either, it’s something I don’t want, don’t need and didn’t ask for. 🤷‍♀️

DramaAlpaca · 23/12/2025 23:54

I'm glad it's not just me! Every year I intend to get the wrapping done well in advance of the day, but I never do. It's always a last minute rush and this year is no different. Thankfully we are all adults here so no Santa. I've just had a confab with DH and DS3 and they think we should do whatever's easiest, so I might do a quick tissue paper wrap and shove everything into pillow cases. No sellotape required - shame I went out earlier today and bought three rolls of the stuff!

Thesummer · 24/12/2025 00:14

Every year I say I'll wrap before Christmas Eve and every year I fail. Tbh me and DH have sort of turned it into a tradition now, we get literally everything else done first (house clean, Xmas eve traditions with the kids, food prep etc) and then knuckle down with a Baileys or similar and get it done very efficiently.

I used to like making presents look pretty with ribbons and bows etc but fuck that with the kids' presents, they don't care or notice! Anything awkward gets shoved in a gift bag and nice square boxes get speed wrapped. Stocking fillers never get wrapped.

Cappie73 · 24/12/2025 00:19

Taken me all evening to wrap 16 presents helped along with a large bottle of Baileys, one left to do as had enough now to be honest, why did I not do them when I started buying in October 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️😩

Windowcleaning · 24/12/2025 00:24

One of the best things I've ever done IN MY LIFE was to make fabric gift bags. Different fabric for different people, so no need to even label.

Some of the fabric is also suitable for birthdays, and I never intend to wrap another present to my immediate family again.

It will take me all of 10 minutes tomorrow.

Alwaysonthebrightside08 · 24/12/2025 00:57

me & Dh finished about 30 mins ago! DD couldn’t get to seep til midnight… too excited. 🥴 We’ve always done it Christmas Eve while watching Bad Santa & drinking red wine 😂 DD is 11, first year we haven’t had to faff with Father Christmas stuff & getting the presents down from the loft or in from the garage ect then waiting for her to be fast asleep crawling in to bed at 2 in the morning! Just want a nice chilled night tomorrow as working in morning then out for early dinner with PIL. Good luck to the rest of you 😬

Manbaby expecting you to wrap your own present and you just did it?? Wow.

Tryingtohelp12 · 24/12/2025 01:08

Should have wrapped tonight, but no! Spent it finishing off handmade Christmas crowns (11if them!)…. Priorities 😂😂😂

TheSandgroper · 24/12/2025 01:21

My cloth bags are nearly 30 years old now. Honestly, such a game changer. Present in bag and pull the drawstring. Tie on the label. Just make sure you get them back after presents have been opened.
