I drove home from family this morning. 3hrs. Then did the food shop. Home at 4. I had every intention of starting to wrap, but have drank half a bottle of sherry and watched two Christmas films instead 😆

I only have 22 pressies to wrap!

I’ve found a hack!!…. I’ve locked my dh in the bedroom with xmas songs and a flask of hot mulled wine! Winner winner, no wrapping for me!

Just ginger bread House making from scratch… i gave my dh the option 😆

Did all mine this afternoon. Reusable fabric gift bags from Etsy. Half an hour and done

Nofksleft2give · 24/12/2025 16:11

It’s too late for this year, but wrap when you buy next time and it spaces the whole chore out. That way it doesn’t overwhelm. As long as you label them and remember what’s what.

FunnyOrca · 24/12/2025 16:21

Well done everybody who has finished!

Good luck to everyone still going… including my husband, who has exactly 3 gifts to wrap.

I managed to wrap the gifts I’m giving and gifts from both of us, make up 4 stockings, build the two flat pack gifts from the grandparents, make christmas ornaments from the baby all while exclusively breastfeeding. But yes, good luck to him with his 3 gifts…

Oh, and now he has asked me to clean out the litter tray he has been procrastinating for days… delightful

Wrap and go is the way.

But yes, you do forget everything you've bought.

@Globules turns out wrapping while watching Die Hard is a genius hack, I'm doing that right now and I'm almost done. Thanks for the tip!

Every year 🤣 That's the formal start of Christmas in our house - the tree is up, there's somewhere to put the gifts, the sherry or Vino Santo gets opened and Die Hard goes on and the first batch of wrapping gets done (Die Hard 2 for batch 2, obvs).

IsadoraBathrobe · 24/12/2025 18:11

Good luck everyone still wrapping 😵‍💫

GIFT BAGS!!! That is what you need OP. Plonk the gift in, a bit of tape at the top to stop if gaping and done! I have some that have been reused year after year within the family.

You can get foil ones that you tie. So no sellotape either.

Crikeyalmighty · 24/12/2025 18:20

Honestly I can say gift bags have been a total revelation ( the packs I have come in a variety of mixed sizes too -) I do admit to using plastic ones With Christmassy messages on them , but they will def be reusable -I honestly never knew such things existed — came up on a Facebook feed - -brilliant too for awkward shaped things -my ‘wrapping’ literally took 25 minutes ! I’ve used different coloured ones for different people .

S4uk · 24/12/2025 18:26

After doing the building yesterday; I’ve just finished the wrapping.
one year I built a small trampoline on Xmas eve. It was a disaster, mostly in the wrong order - I kept drinking and it kept getting worse… then I had to do the super simple wheelbarrow which was also a nightmare!!!

luckily I have a bungalow i can lock and abandon; and it’s that house we’re going to to unwrap everything tomorrow!!

DramaAlpaca · 24/12/2025 19:54

@Gliblet and @Globules there's now a new tradition in our house Grin

Happy Christmas everyone!

But as DD said tonight (she can't remember what she wrapped in one of her parcels for her brother 24 hours earlier), it'll be a more of a surprise for everyone! 😆

I'm not wrapping because I'm no longer buying Christmas tat for people any more.

Most houses are heaving with stuff. I'm decluttering, an ongoing project.

If you have some tips please share them in the decluttering thread. Would love to have your determination

Tin foil is your friend. So festive!!!

I love you entrepreneurial skills. Might borrow this 💡 fabulous idea. Extra points if you add a bow or sticker

One of the best things I've ever done IN MY LIFE was to make fabric gift bags. Different fabric for different people, so no need to even label.

Some of the fabric is also suitable for birthdays, and I never intend to wrap another present to my immediate family again.

It will take me all of 10 minutes tomorrow.

Please can i see your fabric wrap? X

This is very true.

Although I need to make sure DS doesn't get the wrong present too early or others he will disappear for the rest of the day.

I use wrapping bags from Amazon. Bought them a couple of years ago and reuse them every year. They go in the attic with the decorations then I just pop each person's in a large gift bag from my stock of them so no need for tags. I did everyone's including the stocking in less than half an hour tonight
