Every year for the last 20 years or so, I've nagged at my adult child and their partner to give me their Xmas wish list from the middle of October (amongst adults in our family it's usual to have a wish list, with no expectations that all of our wishes will be granted.) Until they comply somewhere around the middle of November.
This year I started my usual naggathon, but added "and you know I'll keep doing this until you give me a list, so why not save all our time and do it now?" .
It worked! So I've had all my gifts since early November, and so have they.
As a result child started doing home decorations today, and their partner was actually excited, instead of panicking because it's 14 (now 13) days to xmas. Usually by this time they are in a right state, wondering where to get what they want to gift.
Now all that's left to decide is what to have for Xmas day lunch.
