I’m more ready- goodie shopping was done on the 24th- never again! Also working worse hours😅(retail!)

Lulu1919 · 05/12/2025 14:49

Last Christmas I had one grandchild now I have two !!

Talkingtomyhouseplants · 05/12/2025 14:53

My brother has separated from my SIL who I used to be really close to. The children will be dropped at my parents at midday to spend time with my brother and our side. I’m furious with her so saying I will miss her is not quite right, but her absence will be noteworthy

Sandcaaarstle · 05/12/2025 14:54

I was too late booking the restaurant so now I’ve got to cook and host 😩

sciaticafanatica · 05/12/2025 14:57

New grandson

Aweekoffwork · 05/12/2025 14:59

Three adult children so no advent calendars and no stocking fillers (chocolate/tat/rubbish) this year.

Sorry, you asked for one difference ☺️

Hudders3 · 05/12/2025 15:02

I’m moving on 18th, so it will be in a new home and new county !

Partickle · 05/12/2025 15:22

A third granddaughter

Chickoletta · 05/12/2025 15:27

This time last year we were frantically finishing massive renovations to our house, trying to get finished in time as we’d promised the kids we’d be ‘in’ for Christmas. DH was working full time whilst staying up until 2am plastering, painting, laying flooring etc and I was working full time whilst trying to do everything else for all of us. It nearly drove him to a nervous breakdown. We slept in the house for the first time on 23rd. This year, we’re actually living a relatively normal life although there is still work ongoing. We have more money and infinitely more time and have a good chance of actually enjoying ourselves!

One sad thing - mum is no longer here and she loved Christmas and family. However one good thing- my son who hasn't been in touch for three years, got in touch with us and will be with us at Christmas. He's been unwell and reached out and I'm glad he did.

This one really brought a tear to my eye.

Sorry for the loss of your mum, but I hope you have a lovely Christmas with your son.

ErlingHaalandsManBun · 05/12/2025 15:33

I won't have my dad or my best friend 😭Lost my Dad earlier this year and my best friend 2 weeks ago.

Loub1987 · 05/12/2025 15:34

Last year we were mid point through getting our run down two up, two down extended at the back. So Christmas dinner was eating on a table on a concrete floor with no heating. This year, it’s mostly done!

Also for the first time ever I will not be employed at Christmas. Current job is ending now, new contract early next year. This sounds bad but I’m really looking forward to no work related stress over Christmas and starting new next year!

Tisfortired · 05/12/2025 15:36

I have another baby - DS3 is 9 weeks old and if you’d have told me this Christmas would look like this I’d have fell over.

HeadNorth · 05/12/2025 15:37

Oldest child has a puppy - with a broken leg

CatCaretaker · 05/12/2025 15:37

11 month old baby girl (born 30th Dec 2024) ❤

First Christmas without my lovely Christmas mad mum, It will be the first time i have ever spent Christmas day in my own home as always stayed with her ( we lost dad a few years ago) So this will be a strange one of just me and my son. In fact we have decided to just have a very relaxed cosy pajama Christmas , to the point we are not even bothering with a meal. We will be getting through the day powered by Bacon rolls, Chocolate and trifle

willitevergetwarm · 05/12/2025 15:51

2024 - 3 grandchildren and a kitten
2025 - 5 grandchildren, a cat and a puppy

Wonderfully chaotic Christmas for us

Yiayoula · 05/12/2025 16:01

Just DH and me on Christmas Day, first time in over 50 years : we’re having curry for lunch which I’m unreasonably excited about !

honeylulu · 05/12/2025 16:02

It's usually just us 4 (parents and 2 kids) but this year my son's girlfriend is joining us so we will be 5!

NorthernDancer · 05/12/2025 16:13

Last Christmas we were full of hope for the year ahead after some tough years ( health, litigation, redundancy) and we started with the birth of a new DGC.

This year DD's not so DH has ended their marriage and my DH has incurable cancer, so we will be a grim little gathering.

christmassaurus · 05/12/2025 16:16

I now have two children instead of one.... and I'm going to have to barricade the tree somehow 🥰

Hello39 · 05/12/2025 16:17

No one in the house who believes in the elf / Santa this year

Seawolves · 05/12/2025 16:20

Sounds mad but I have bought my little one something for him, something he will love. I don't feel I have ever been able to do that in the past (he is severely disabled and has never expressed an interest in any toys, he doesn't know how to use his hands and is blind) but this year I have nailed it and I am so excited!

TheFairyCaravan · 05/12/2025 16:21

We don’t have FIL anymore. 💔
