Welcome to Christmas 2025!

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread here and share around the joy/referral perks.

I am also chuffed with my Joe & Steph's popcorn order. I'd definitely purchase again. It'll make slightly different stocking fillers for my three

I've just finished wrapping and have realised that I've bought nothing for my husband or mother in law yet. Husband wants a home brew kit but I have no idea which one to get him as I don't drink - can anyone recommend one that makes lager? He likes lagers like Cobra, Staropramen, Estrella. Thank you! :)

Just catching up on the thread. This is a great shop for home brew stuff. There are a couple of lager options on there.

I got the Degustabox on Groupon waaaay back for £27.99, can’t remember if topcashback tracked though I noticed that Degusta has taken a £5 paypal Degusta registration fee not sure what that’s about or if I did it when ordering. The calendar itself is fab, we are loving it.

Definitely white or rose. Fruity. Normally more of a fruit cider drinker really. But as much as it shames me to admit, we normally drink the sort of wine that you have a slight grimace after 😬
Really enjoyed a sparkling red we got from the caves in France once!
Thank you all, will peruse naked wines, good pair days and perhaps visit a majestic wines!

Do you have a local (ISH) specialist wine merchant? Ideally an independent one?

There's one in the next town to us who do tasting evenings. I'd give him a gift voucher so he can go and taste some, explore the sorts of nicer wines that he would genuinely enjoy, and come away with a nice bottle or two

Wine's so subjective! It would be a shame to spend good money on a nice bottle and not enjoy it

WimbyAce · 06/12/2025 16:35

I have bitten the bullet and done that Virgin wine thing for parents. Have currently set up a 3 month payment holiday but will hopefully cancel wine club as soon as the order arrives as I really have no use for wine club.

Thank you for the new thread.
Just posted on the old thread about a gift for my dad. I just had an idea about a terrarium, has anyone seen any shops selling them? I have one a got a few months back from Lidl but they never have them near Christmas. He already has everything he needs for his garden but I don’t think he has much in the way of house plants other than a few orchids 🤔.

I was in our local Lidl yesterday and they had terrariums in the entrance bit with the logs etc. can't see them listed on the app so it may just be that our local branch has them leftover from a previous week but worth a check if you're passing.

@BeaLola Re the SDJ, (which I love and I am NOT a teen 😹), and other products which might be more aimed at young people.

Imo, older teens are very quick to reject stuff that has filtered down in popularity from their age group to tweens, etc. (It’s all about being perceived as ‘grown up’.) So they may perceive SDJ as something for younger kids, (even if they secretly love it).

By contrast, slightly older young adults, (or indeed those of us who are more mature!) are confident enough to say they like a certain product, regardless of which age group it’s ´in’ with.

I second PP who said that Dior lip gloss is often a win with 17/18 year olds, (if only because very few people are going to be buying one of these for their 12 year old, unlike SDJ!) Laneige lip masks also seem quite popular, as do CT lip products.

@DaffodilsInAJamjar this one. It’s lovely, been buying it for 15+ years

That sound lovely! I hope it goes well. We’re thinking of going to the Winchester market tomorrow

Ooh maybe see you there. Is there a secret mn tell so we can identify each other irl? 😉

That site looks dodgy as anything - the returns policy pretty much non existent and it's not based in the UK.

I’ve bought quite a few things from them before and they’ve been ok, if that helps. I didn’t have to return anything though, so don’t have any experience of how that would work.

Espresso and Caramel (big)
Espresso Martini (big)
White chocolate and raspberry (may be another ingredient? We are it and the label is in the recycling)
Strawberry Cheesecake (big))
Truffle
Speculoos
Honey and Hazelnut (big)
Gin and tonic (big)
Chilli chocolate caramel
Chocolate orange slab (big)

Quite happy with it, as DH loves the ones DD and I won't eat.

Is this deal still available?

Thank you re SDJ products for sons 17 year old girlfriend - I really didn't know whether this was suitable - I had thought about Laneige lip stuff as had seen it mentioned but when I casually threw it into a conversation with said girlfriend she mentioned that her sister liked this (sister is 14) ...

Those buying the Fahlo animal tracking stuff - if you shine a torch through the card packet you can figure out which animal it is (especially if you google the animal name with the word ‘Fahlo’ for extra confirmation). I ordered 3 different sea animals and they were all identical with turtle pictures but I can see all 3 cards are different and correct without opening to check. It’s my first time ordering and I’m impressed.

Oneborneverydecade · 06/12/2025 17:26

Can anyone suggest a <£20 present for my personal trainer? He lives alone and is in his early 20s. He has braids and likes white chocolate.

IlovePond · 06/12/2025 17:27

Good to know @BeaLola - it’s a minefield.

I’d go with the Dior if it’s within budget. There are discounts to be found.

Thank you for Anthropologie code- just got around to ordering and I have treated myself to Espa bath and shower gel for £3.95 postage.
Now to spend DH’s code!

zacsGranny · 06/12/2025 17:48

My Anthropologie order arrived today via Evri. Seems they are more reliable than RM at the moment.
I have three orders that retailers say are dispatched last week, but RM say they haven't received My DH has friends who work for RM and they told him that there are trailers full of parcels waiting to be unloaded. They haven't been scanned into the system or sorted yet so goodness knows when they'll arrive..

Anyone seen any barganious stocking fillers. Just wrapped majority of Ds7 presents and the actual stocking isn't actually that full. He's got a toothbrush Nd toothpaste to come but could do with 4/5 small inexpensive things to bulk it out. Any ideas? Ta

Is he in to Lego? I’ve got my almost 7 year old a couple of Lego poly bags for his stocking!
Ive also one of the pocket potter books, some Bertie Botts every flavour beans, and a Lego ruler set and I’ll bulk out the rest with a chocolate Santa and hot chocolate!

Puffalicious · 06/12/2025 18:20

Delighted with my popcorn- one big slab, 4 large bags & 4 smaller bags. Good variety inc birthday cake (will go in with DNeph birthday gift on Monday), caramel, white choc & raspberry, strawberry, chocolate, Baileys, Gin & tonic (will do DNiece). Only weird one is egg nog, but we'll try that one! Plenty for my 3's stocking. Great deal.

They had quite a few Grinch things in Home Bargains - got DD a little bucket of candy floss for 99p. It’ll take up a bit of space Smile
