Thread 14 - the one where I'm still not sure what a cheese spoiler is

Welcome to Christmas 2025!

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread here and share around the joy/referral perks.

Hi - recommendations for really nice dark hot chocolate. Am looking for something for my sister in law - am currently tempted by Knoops or Guppy’s but was also thinking perhaps Betty’s or Chococo but I’ve only ever had the Knoops personally.

Cocoa canopy is quite nice

QueenOfThorns · 06/12/2025 12:30

My popcorn box arrived early! Great flavours, too, no espresso or chocolate orange in sight. For anyone who didn’t order a Blue Monday box, the code THANKYOU20 gets you 20% off at Joe & Seph’s

teaandkittens123 · 06/12/2025 12:44

Ok, inexplicably I’ve just received my Fahlo order again! It looks exactly the same.

AmazingBees · 06/12/2025 12:54

I've just collected my Hotel Chocolat advent calendar, it's huge! Thanks to the original poster 😊

Smiggle advent calendars are also down to £8

fishfingersandchipsagain · 06/12/2025 12:55

First world problem - I can’t decide what to buy with my free £20 anthropology voucher, or my £5 Hobbycraft voucher, or my £5 hotel chocolat voucher😂

However I resent that Hot Diamonds didn’t send me a birthday voucher, particularly when I had a nice ring waiting in my basket.

Cos1970 · 06/12/2025 13:01

Just got my Fahlo order, card and bracelet are the right ones but the bracelet isn’t too big so will fit my DS 12 years old fine

Can anyone remember the 6 foot nutcracker from Costco from a few threads ago?

I just happened to be in Costco last week and they had a reduced ex-display slightly damaged but still working one ... who is now in my house Grin all fixed and attached to a motion sensor so he starts singing and dancing and lighting up every time someone walks past. Still not sure if he was an absolute bargain or will be the bane of my life over Christmas, and then again in the new year when I have to find a home for him.

Sockshop have got £7 off their sock crackers.

Anyone have any recommendations for a kettle for and outdoor log burner please? I think they have to be cast iron - but as a confirmed apartment dweller I have no idea!! For this stove if anyone is knowledgeable?
https://outbackerstoves.co.uk/products/outbacker-portable-log-burning-stove

I've always used a rather unglamorous aluminium camping kettle on my wood burner and never had an issue, though I'm sure a cast iron one would be lovely.

But any kettle it's safe to put on a campfire is safe for a wood burner.

Could you do a photo with something to scale it? I'm so tempted but not quite gone for it

CatCatCatCatCatCatCat · 06/12/2025 15:04

Not sure if it's in all stores, but my local currys has some funko pops for 6.97 in store. Not sure if the same offer is online. Random selection, including some harry potter ones and stranger things, amongst others.
Looked at them the other week when they were £13, glad I didn't buy then!

SugarCookieMonster · 06/12/2025 15:09

I went real life shopping in Sainsburys today and their Roald Dahl felt Christmas decorations were half price. Got a BFG and Willy Wonka for £2.50 each instead of £4.

I realise it was Cyber Monday, not Blue Monday! Just showing my age and current distracted state Grin

Whoever was after Lord of the Rings merchandise a few threads back, Fun have some heavily reduced items in their sale. Only downside is the shipping, which goes up by weight. They’ve also got lots of reduced Harry Potter, Funko, Marvel stuff, as well as Princess Bride, Care Bears, Christmas jumpers etc.

I’ll put the link in a new comment, as I’m never sure if my comments with links get seen or hidden!

PeoniesAreMyFavouriteFlower · 06/12/2025 15:49

Lots of Funko as well.

That site looks dodgy as anything - the returns policy pretty much non existent and it's not based in the UK.

DaffodilsInAJamjar · 06/12/2025 15:55

Many threads back someone recommended a Whiskey cake. Was it the Glenfiddich one? Just realised I need one and looking for one with minimal p&p ideally!

N96 · 06/12/2025 15:56

Can I please ask about the degusta deal. I must have missed that one and it looks interesting.
Thank You

CatCatCatCatCatCatCat · 06/12/2025 16:15

Just checked and the discounted funko pops at currys also available online
Funko POP! Vinyl figures | Currys https://share.google/aUEVMMewH7Gv2AmIL

Chocolateteabag · 06/12/2025 16:15

@BeaLola - my Dd is 18 and thinks of Sol de Janeiro for younger teens ( although I like it) If she’s had a lot though she may be very appreciative of it . The gift sets look lovely. Benefit gift sets are also very popular depending on whether she wears make up.
Otherwise a Dior lipgloss , or lip oil. Comes beautifully packaged and are much sought after by Dd and her uni counterparts.

Edited

I've bought Sol de Janeiro for my DS's GF 18. He told me he's looked it up and it's for younger teens. I'm not buying anything else at this stage.

To contradict that my DH took a Sol de Janeiro gift set in for his team's white elephant (after my original idea didn't arrive in time, thanks Papier). It was the most popular gift amongst the young female team and the final recipient was very grateful.

So who knows.
