Thread 14 - the one where I'm still not sure what a cheese spoiler is

Welcome to Christmas 2025!

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread here and share around the joy/referral perks.

I just found this code for Sports shoes on Google and checked it and it works for a 15% discount.
activeinclusion15
Has he tried them on already?

Genius! Thanks it worked! No he hasn’t tried them on, but hoping if I size half a size down from usual size shoes that should be a nice fit. It is a bit hit or miss with climbing shoes but he’s been asking for la Sportiva for ages, so I am very hopeful…

Mokeytree · 06/12/2025 21:02

Glad the code worked.
It would be best to try them if he can. Or you can do brand comparison calculators online and use his current pair as a comparison. For instance my sportivas are 2 sizes smaller than my scarpa shoes so they really do vary.

mumonthehill · 06/12/2025 21:04

@Houseofsardines sports pursuit has some climbing shoes quite reduced so maybe worth a look.

Mokeytree · 06/12/2025 21:04

Bananafingers has a 'shoeculator' which compares across climbing brands and street shoes incase it's helpful. Sorry to go on but like you say they really aren't cheap.

My Fahlo was ordered on 25 November but not appeared. Royal Mail just says they are waiting for it but its not changed in a week 🙈

Same. Generic email reply when I queried how slow delivery is. Bit disappointing to see people who ordered after getting theirs already. Makes me wonder how they process orders.

It’s really difficult as he’s just had a huge growth spurt and has gone from a 7.5 to 11 in regular shoes! So I don’t have much to compare against apart from the shoes he’s borrowing at the climbing centre and they are a 10.5. Our local sports direct doesn’t have any climbing shoes in stock anywhere near his size!

Loreli1983 · 06/12/2025 21:33

Ordered my Fahlo bracelets on the 25th and still no sign. I've tried the tracking number and apparently RM were unable to deliver yesterday (th), unable to deliver today (6th) but will try next working day. Fingers crossed - someone has been home both days and surely they fit through the letter box so I'm guessing its a RM backlog...

Anyone seen any barganious stocking fillers. Just wrapped majority of Ds7 presents and the actual stocking isn't actually that full. He's got a toothbrush Nd toothpaste to come but could do with 4/5 small inexpensive things to bulk it out. Any ideas? Ta

I'd bulk it out with edible treats, like a chocolate Santa and a tube of Pringles. Does he need a new water bottle?

stevegrabshall · 06/12/2025 21:41

My fahlo bracelets were ordered on 25th, had a generic email when I chased it up, and still not been despatched.
not very impressed at the moment.

44PumpLane · 06/12/2025 21:50

@AlfiesMum42 B&M has some milk straws in that flavour the milk and they had all sorts of different flavours when I was last in.

You could get a few fidgets, small pots of slime/play doh/ kinetic sand, personalised (or favourite character) bookmark, themed socks, a eugy 3d model (not cheap but it's a good activity to give you a bit more time in bed perhaps), Smart Games "Reverso" (fun for all the family), top trumps/uno/taco cat goat cheese pizza/"Eye Found It" (the Marvel version of this is only £6.71 at the minute and it's a great game), kids blue/pink shower mousse, small magic trick....

Add some of the above to choc coins and the other bits you already have and you'll be set.

Same here waiting for mine with no information really, as long as it turns up before Christmas I don't mind it being slow.

A bit of a weird one, but has anyone seen some rabbit themed Christmas giftwrap in the shops or online? It could also be a character rabbit like miffy or Peter rabbit.

It's for Santa's presents for my DD but she's only 18 months so is not into any characters yet... but I need to wrap them with a different paper from my DS who is Bluey obsessed and got his Bluey paper. DD has a couple of bunny cuddly toys that she always carries around so it's the only thing I could think of, but I haven't seen any and the only options I see online cost almost as much as the gifts I have to wrap... thanks!

MerylSqueak · 06/12/2025 22:11

They have Peter Rabbit paper in M and S but it's not a bargain at £5. It is on 3for2 though.

Apologies as not offering a bargain but I’ve seen heated gilets mentioned on here a few times. The prices vary wildly- can anyone recommend one for my 87 year old mum?

Mandarina33 · 06/12/2025 23:12

Thanks for the suggestions. I was hoping for something christmassy and I love the one from Dunelm, but my nearest store is a 30 min drive and I'm not sure it's worth it 😅 so I'll probably settle for the peter rabbit one from Asda. I have also found one from Next but it's a massive roll for £7, and I only need it for three small gifts

EweProfessorSurnameDoctorProfessor · 06/12/2025 23:37

Can you stick snowflake stickers or something similarly seasonal? If they were glittery, it wouldn’t look out of place whilst still adding some festivity!

ETA the end of the sentence

DuckDuckDuckDuckGoose · 06/12/2025 23:39

@passremarkable can you not ship to brother in law, then ask him to post it on to you? I'm sure it won't cost as much as £67 for him to post it to the UK unless it's a giant plushie.

Neals Yard sell lovely items specifically for mothers to be - maybe a gift box of those?
