I’m absolutely out of ideas this year. He is 57. For once I’m completely stuck. I’m looking for inspiration.

Noise cancelling headphones, a summer shirt for an upcoming holiday, and a couple of bottles of port he likes. Oh, and a book. He dislikes after-shave and it makes him sneeze. I shall probably get a few chocs and bits, too - depends what I see when I’m out and about.

Escape room in a box
Curry recipe kit selection
Craft beer
Food flask
Theatre vouchers

GreyhoundLurcher · 30/11/2025 06:10

A holiday in Barbados - we'll be there for Christmas Day!

GnomeDePlume · 30/11/2025 06:34

Not helpful but nothing.

DH and I have been married 34 years and have not bought each other Christmas or birthday presents in that time. Reason for this, when we first married we had little money. Now we can afford it we just buy what we want when we want it.

DCs do buy for us (and we for them). We each of us have great fun making suggestions for DCs to buy for the other. These gifts will be things we never even knew we wanted.

We have been married nearly thirty years. He buys his own clothes, but I have stopped him as he has too many. I plan to send them to the charity shop. For Christmas we always give each other a diary, old fashioned but practical. Sometimes I get a ring.

ATadSurprised · 30/11/2025 06:44

an Advent calendar, a place mat for his wine bottle, and a thing for the ridiculously expensive coffee machine he's ordered himself.

Mumdiva99 · 30/11/2025 06:50

A jar of peanut butter,, a pair of socks, probably a bag of nuts and a bar of soap.

Similar to @gnomedeplume husband buys whatever he wants. He's also rubbish at buying presents as he has no interest in them himself so I've given up and buy myself what I want.

I bought him a concert ticket last month. So I do treat him. He got me a new phone for my birthday which I really needed.

I got my dad a cheese subscription last year which was fantastic and am doing it again this year....only for 3 months but the cheese is beautifully packaged and I go and share it with my parents - so sociable too.

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 30/11/2025 06:54

he hates “stuff” and is very utilitarian with what he owns so nothing, but taking him for a nice dinner the week before

TimeForATerf · 30/11/2025 06:55

He chose a golf bag. I bought a tin of flapjack, men’s soap, a book and a specific branded sock. He loves flapjacks, uses soap, reads and I buy him an item of clothing from this brand every year.

job done.

Mikart · 30/11/2025 06:56

Sour dough course.
Tickets to a gig.

Mintine · 30/11/2025 07:20

we e been together 32 years, he rarely buys himself anything and I love buying him presents! I’ve bought him a beautiful fisherman jumper in bright orange, which he will look fabulous in, a book and an old silver pocket watch. I’m thinking I’ll get him some chocolate to wrap up, I saw a good marks and Spencer, chocolate bar, full of peanuts. Not for me as I’m allergic!

Can you recommend some port pls?

You’ve inspired me with the cheese subscription, that sounds right up DH’s street, so can I ask you for the name of it?

Justlostmybagel · 30/11/2025 07:36

Socks and underpants. He's very particular and the kind he likes are expensive.

FourChimneys · 30/11/2025 07:37

A book and some fancy marmalade. Like previous posters we treat each other through the year if we see something. We agree to limit Christmas to one book and something to eat.

deadpantrashcan · 30/11/2025 07:38

Nothing. We’ll just save to do something nice in the new year.

Yuja · 30/11/2025 07:40

Ive got my husband an acupressure mat

What would you class as fancy marmalade? This is another thing DH would like. I might get his shopping done just from this thread!

VegQueen · 30/11/2025 07:41

A Japanese kitchen knife

Nifty50something · 30/11/2025 07:43

Last year - a ridiculously overpriced Patagonia fleece that he loves and wears constantly

This year - an electric rice cooker and an inflatable kayak

Radiatorvalves · 30/11/2025 07:43

He needs a new jacket so I may get one for him. Possibly a new book. He’s quite into making cocktails, but other than a bottle of pisco (or something wierd) he’s got all the kit he needs. Likes Aesop stuff but his birthday was last month and I got him a couple of things.

Flowersandthorns · 30/11/2025 07:44

I love buying gifts for my husband. I have got him a make your own cheese kit, Eurotunnel ticket for a weekend in January so we can do a post-Christmas Bruge/Ghent visit, Bialetti coffee set and a shaket from 2tall. He keeps trying them on but the high street ones are too short in the arm.

Fortnums? I make my own so don’t buy it.

Strider55 · 30/11/2025 07:53

A new thick, fluffy dressing gown because he keeps stealing mine.

Although I really like the one I bought him, so I might end up stealing it and he can keep my baby pink one 😈

Batteriesoptional · 30/11/2025 07:54

A Japanese kitchen knife, gadget for sharpening knifes & metal knife block - cooking is his thing. Some stuff from Kiehls, a book, chocolate orange, socks and a deodorant that supposedly stops shirts from being stained.
