I’m absolutely out of ideas this year. He is 57. For once I’m completely stuck. I’m looking for inspiration.

OP posts:
TheCurious0range · 04/12/2025 05:53

A new monitor for the pc he built, a book, pyjamas, some kind of unusual hot sauce, pair of trainers, some aftershave and then little bits, he's partial to a lush bubble bar, some chocolate, some small hobby related bits. It was his birthday recently so I'm a bit out of ideas

Exceptionalice · 04/12/2025 05:55

Obligatory body wash set with a wash bag as we’ve got a holiday booked in May.

A smartwatch

A hoody he’s been eyeing up.

A water bottle for work.

TheSandgroper · 04/12/2025 06:00

Well, we bought a Bluetti power station this year and Clever Dick said “we’ll wait until the power goes out and then charge it”.

He’s not in the habit of being quite this thick so I was speechless.

I have bought him a solar panel.

mrssunshinexxx · 04/12/2025 06:04

Oh What is this deodorant?

AKT London. It comes in little aluminium tubes - I have no idea if it works but gets good reviews.

Plinketyplonks · 04/12/2025 06:14

Just bought mine a stovetop smoker! You can smoke all meats, cheeses, salmon. Can’t wait for him to open it!

Conniebygaslight · 04/12/2025 06:19

A V8 model engine and Strictly tour tickets for us. Will also write a lovely card and probably some chocs.

Leopardsandcheetahsarefast · 04/12/2025 06:20

We’ve got each other a shed for the allotment out of the joint account. He doesn’t know but he also has a cordless chain saw!

TwinklyNight · 04/12/2025 06:22

A new laptop, his current one is getting too outdated for updates. A mechanics chair, a toque, chocolates, a pair of pjamas and that's it.

Girlintheframe · 04/12/2025 06:24

I’ve gone for running gear, HR monitor, new jumper and shirt and an air fix model.

ThatDearBrickFish · 04/12/2025 07:08

Airfix car model
Toblerone or Chocolate Orange
Socks
Pants
Car cleaning products from Autoglym
And some other stuff I haven't thought of yet.

mine is getting a portable dvd player and dvds for his lorry and a new leather jacket as his old one looks scruffy

We aren't big on Christmas gifts for each other, so normally I get him upgraded versions of whatever he uses like skincare, cologne, maybe a set of t-shirts of the style he usually wears, things like that and it goes down well.

Could you get him something related to his interests? Is he into gym or photography or gardening, etc? Could be gift cards to stores he's buying equipment from or an upgraded gym card, a box of protein bars, a bag, etc.

If he's into tech, you can look into programs he might find useful like photo software or a good video editing app, etc.

Tickets to events or shows he would enjoy?

MiddleAgedDread · 04/12/2025 11:14

I still have no idea!!
Not getting much inspo from this thread either 😨
Thought about an experience but not sure what (not an escape room, both our ideas of hell!)

blizymitzy · 04/12/2025 11:42

Hmmmmwineandchocs · 04/12/2025 12:49

Running shoes and from our daughter some new slippers that he really likes.
Might throw in a nice bottle of port but the shoes were expensive.

MrsSkylerWhite · 04/12/2025 12:52

We’re buying each other nothing. We’ve downsized to a fabulous flat, had it professionally decorated, bought some lovely furniture in an antique style we love and don’t need anything at all.
Its just the two of us for the first time in over 30 years, so its a lie in, Carols from Kings, a tasty brunch and a takeaway curry.

We’ll have plenty to open when our eldest’s family comes for a week a couple of days later.

Oh thanks - I’m don’t Christmas shopping but his birthday is soon too and I will be adding that!

mamaduckbone · 04/12/2025 18:14

A record weight (apparently it stops records bouncing around when you play them)
A record
A couple of books
Socks
Favourite chocolate
Some local honey

We have a £50 ish limit then put the money to a weekend away instead. I can't decide whether to just book somewhere so we actually get round to doing it.

2025mustbebetter · 04/12/2025 18:18

I have thought a new Leatherman (on offer) as his is broken. And name stickers for his boats (yes he has 2, we're not rich they're cheap boats and subsidised by his parents!) plus the usual chocolates and socks

Iliketulips · 05/12/2025 10:24

A book, jigsaw, B&K gift voucher, fun socksx2 - all of which he's asked for. Also, another jigsaw (little wooden one I know he'd like), Lindt chocolate, can M&S G&T he really likes, car air fresherner (he'll understand the joke behind it) and fun screen wipe.

GumFossil · 05/12/2025 10:33

Jo Malone cologne, a few Rodd and Gunn tops and shirts, some new Adidas. And I’m out of ideas apart from that.

RMenergy · 05/12/2025 22:10

A card shuffling machine for games, new pjs and a book. I will probably get him some chocolate too.
